True love’s path is paved with every step. Through the assistance of fanciful elements as well as characters Puck and Oberon, the true message of love in William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream is revealed. The four lovers know the direction in which their hearts are inclined to turn, but when the love potion is administered, the bounds of their rectangle are thrashed without knowledge or consent. George Gascoigne’s The Adventures of Master FJ primarily focuses on the affair between FJ and Dame Ellinor. During his time with Dame Ellinor, FJ establishes himself as a man “bounden to love”; however, this declaration is untrue and proven so when Frances tells that story of Bess, her lover, and her husband. The tale about Bess is meant to bring FJ to full realization that the affair he is having with Ellinor is temporary and built solely on lustful feelings. The circumstantial equivalency between FJ and the lover, as well as Ellinor and Bess, is obvious; however, their emotions towards their respective lovers differ greatly. When Bess is discovered by her husband, she repents and ends her affair and her lover to follow her wishes.

The narrator or older brother, whom was never named, is an algebra teacher, at a school in Harlem. On the way to work he reads a newspaper article about his brother; Sonny, who was picked up the night before in a drug raid. The narrator is stunned that his little brother, whom he considered to be “wild but not crazy” and had always been “a good boy” (Baldwin 93), got himself caught up in the world of drugs. While, the narrator is teaching he feels what he describes as a block of ice in his stomach that “melts and sends trickles up and down his veins” (93) at the thought of Sonny. I believe that John Orr does fit the profile of an arsonist in many ways, and not in other ways. John Orr was a blue-collar arson investigator, he also attended investigator conventions and investigated one of his own fires; he kept the “mask of sanity” for quite some time. Orr burned retail stores, specifically in sections where there was foam, he seemed comfortable with this type of location and comfortable with the everyday items he used to start the fires; cigarettes, matches, yellow paper, and rubber bands. John Orr wrote a manifest about how he would get sexually excited at fires, becoming erected and even masturbating to the flames as they surrounded him. Within Poe’s “Annabel Lee”, the narrator depicts of the true love that he and his “Annabel Lee” harbored but it evokes resentful angels to pursue and murder his lover. As within Noyes’ “The Highwayman”, the narrator portrays of a love so pure between the highwayman and Bess, the landlord’s daughter, in which Bess willingly sacrifices her life in hopes of saving the highwayman from being killed but unfortunately, leaves both lovers dead. First, Most men don’t try to woo a girl anymore they try to find the easiest ways to get into a girl pants, and make them obsessed with the man so that he can have someone to cook, clean, and etc, in the story of The Chaser Mr. Austen tries to do just that. In the beginning of the story he isn’t really trying to look for something specific, the old man in the story offers him poison for whatever reason but Alan or Mr. Austen doesn’t want that he says “ I want nothing of that sort”(The Chaser) . The old man tells him how much the potion would cost for poison, but Alan says “ I hope all your mixtures are not as expensive”(The Chaser), as the old man goes on talking about how the “love potion” isn’t as expensive he states “Young people who need a love potion very seldom have five thousand dollars.

Because she begins recalling her childhood, the attachment that she feels towards her brother causes her to dismiss her brother’s disorderly conduct. So even when her brother was out committing crimes, getting drunk, and more, she did not feel that it was important to brood over, because the image does not fit with the perception that she has of him.

Chaucer maintain that the love triangle is represented by Duke Theseus and John the Carpenter by being the elderly authority figure because they try to control Emily and Alison,Palamon and Arcite by Knight’s tale, Absolon, and Nicholas by the Miller’s tale represent the suitors, they had love at first sight. Chaucer’s purpose for writing this text is to compare two characters that have almost the same roles in the stories but with other names and becoming a different type of story.This text is significant to our understanding of love triangle because each one compares how love should be and these stories have some similarities with now.

They say love is the strongest force in the Universe, but by god, “Ethan Frome” by Edith Wharton shows it can also be the stupidest. “Ethan Frome” a Fictional Romantic (and somewhat ironic) novel follows a man named Ethan Frome in his cold, melancholic life in Starkfield, Massachussetts during the late 19th century. Frome is unhappy, married, and desperate. That is until he meets Mattie Silver; his hope for a better life. Breaking down “Ethan Frome” the reader can realize that this is far more than a love story. The major theme is centered on love, but more it’s far more tragic. The novel focuses on creating a love triangle that is far from perfect and slightly awkward, but can somehow still work. Ultimately, “Ethan Frome” proves a point,

Helena and Demetrius in my perspective were meant to love each other so that everyone may be able to love each other in harmony. The love potion was only the push Demetrius needed so that he could be happy forever

Throughout literature, deep relationships can often be discovered between a story and the author who writes it. Relationships can also be found in stories about a husband and wife. In Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales many of the characters make this idea apparent with the stories they tell. In “The Pardoner’s Tale”, a distinct relationship can be made between the character of the Pardoner and his tale of three friends. Also, the Wife in “The Wife of Bath’s Tale” boldly declares her relationship towards her husband.

     Written by Sherwood Anderson in 1919, Winesburg, Ohio, a collection of short stories, allows us to enter the alternately complex, lonely, joyful, and strange lives of the inhabitants of the small town of Winesburg, Ohio. While each character finds definition through their role in the community, we are witness to the individual struggle each faces in trying to reconcile their secret life within. A perfect example of two characters are Alice Hindman and Enoch Robinson. The loneliness and illusion that encompass the lives of Alice Hindman and Enoch Robinson are the result of the discrepancy between their own capacity for intimacy and affection and the inability of others to truly understand them.

The middle-class ladies didn't work, and didn't have a life outside their homes. They dedicated all of their time, energies and passions into keeping their men happy and contented; and in return, were loved, pampered and protected from the harsh realities of life. Even though this idea of total subjection and passivity, wouldn't have a hope of success in today's society, the level of trust and commitment these two "Romantic Poets" apparently share, could be the ideal that all couples should aspire to. In sharp contrast to Browning idealistic and spiritual love poetry of the 1800s, Seamus Heaney's Twice Shy uses an altogether more contemporary and realistic style of prose too describe love in the 20th century.
