John Timithy: A Short Story

The book A long walk to Water by Linda Sue Park is about an eleven year old boy named Salva. First in the beginning of the story he is going to school when out of no where his school is in the middle of a war zone, his teacher tells him to run for the bushes but he keeps running until he could run no more. Then he meets some other people that had also ran away from the war, they had broken of into groups separating the men from the women and children, Salva was put with the children. They kept walking until they came across a barn in which they spent the night, when Salva awoke in the morning he was the only one there, the group had left him. He walked outside of the barn and found a lady rocking on a chair, she gives him some peanuts to eat

The story begins in August in a place called Treegap with an 11-year-old girl named Winifred Foster Winnie for short whose parents are very strict, a man in a yellow suit who seems very odd, and the Tuck family who are immortal and finds out it’s not very fun living forever, their names are Angus, Mae, Miles, and Jesse. In the book, Winnie is sick of being treated like a baby so she decides to run away. She goes to the wood where she finds a water fountain and 17-year-old Jesse Tuck drinking from it she instantly falls in love with him. She wants to drink from the water fountain but Jesse wouldn’t let her so he kidnaps her and takes her to Angus and Mae's house where the Tuck family tells Winnie that if she drinks from the fountain she will become immortal like them. Before Winnie ran away the man in the yellow suit stopped and talked to Winnie asking her if she knew of a family that lives in the wood. Turns out that the family he was looking for was the Tucks. Anyways the man in the yellow suit was watching Winnie the whole time and knew where she was while her parents had no idea so, the man in the yellow suit goes and tells Winnie's parents that if they give him the wood that he will go get Winnie and they did. The man in the yellow suit goes to get Winnie with the constable.

In this story Jake Cullen is a freshman that just watched his brother win the state title game and go on to quarterback the Texas Longhorns. He is the third Cullen in granger his father was a legend in granger while getting the local football stadium. While jake is playing he starts at third string quarterback and then the starter gets hurt and he and the second string quarterback.

Throughout the times of slavery slaves were often traded and sold amongst slave owners, thus these people were forced to leave their families or witness family members being taken away. Following the conclusion of the Civil War freed people were anxious to be reunited with their loved ones. The Southwestern Christian Advocate published a “Lost Friends” column, which allowed former slaves to post inquiries regarding their family members’ whereabouts. This column permitted access to communication across the south, which facilitated widespread searches, amongst freed people, for their loved ones. After years of being separated, families and friends were finally able to get information about their lost relatives and possibly even reconnect with them.

After a rough night, Billy and his team went back to the camp with several coon skins. Because of his dogs determination and loyalty even through a blizzard, Billy won the competition. After that, everyone started to head home. Awhile later, Billy, Old Dan, and Little Ann went hunting again. Billy was not prepared for this hunt. During the hunt, Old Dan and Little Ann tracked down a mountain lion. They would not give up the hunt until the lion was dead. While saving Billy's life, Old Dan and Little Ann were wounded very badly. Even though Billy and his parents did their best to treat Old Dan and Little Ann's wounds, Old Dan did not make it long after the hunt. Shortly after Old Dan's death, Billy buried him. Since Old Dan and Little Ann had always done everything together, Little Ann was so sadden that she stopped eating and became weak. As she was dying, she drug herself all the way out to Old Dan's grave and died beside his grave. Billy buried her beside Old Dan. With the competition money, Billy's father and mother had enough money to move to town, so they did. Before leaving, Billy visited Old Dan and Little Ann's grave once more. There he saw the legendary red

“Howdy Emmett” Said Joseph. Then Emmet replied “Get to work and quit messing around.” “You know I’ve been thinking I’m going to tell I want a better place to stay, higher wages and less work hours…… I’m going to request to meet with him” Said Joseph. Emmet bewildered spun around with such speed it slightly spooked trampas and yelled “You Fool, three people have already tried to talk to him and he refused to even meet with them then he fired them!!!” “I think those are just rumors, everyone’s just to chicken to try.” Said Joseph. Annoyed Emmet glared at Joseph and said “Your job, if you lose it, it’s not my problem.” Emmett finished saddling Destiny and he rode to work with Joseph riding closely behind. They reached their destination dismounted and went their separate ways. A half hour later Joseph came up to Emmett dragging his feet and sullen. “Emmett” said Joseph. Emmet looked up from finishing his inspection. “What?” Emmett grumbled. “You were right, I just lost my job. He wouldn’t even meet with me” Joseph replied. Emmett glanced at him then said “What did I tell you?” “Yes, I know, you warned me. I’m going home” said Joseph. He walked over to Trampas, mounted him and rode off. 15 minutes later Jeff, Emmett’s co-worker came up to him and whispered “We are having a meeting 11 o’clock tonight at my place. Be there. Don’t ask any questions, just show up.” Then he walked away.

The history is based on a group of teenagers that not have prospects of life, they live in McFarland which is place without opportunities to progress, the economy and the quality of life are deplorable, and no one is going to be better. Once upon a time there was a 13 year old girl named Emily Anderson who lived in Iowa with her 15 year old brother Jeff and their uncle Ben. It had been 10 years since Emily and Jeff's parents died in a car crash. Emily, Jeff, and their uncle Ben were all super heroes. Emily and Jeff had always questioned their uncle Ben about how they were superheroes, but he would always say they were very lucky but Emily is the special one in the family.

This story is about a girl that lives in Indiana and she is 14 years old and she is trying to figure out what is best for her to live with her mother or her father. She is really scared at the time but as the story goes on she figures out what she wants to do. Her and her mom are becoming best friends and she doesn't want to break that bond that they have together.

She was trying to be nice and polite to him because he didn’t have no place to go or nothing he had no food and no home but what she did was from the kindness of her heart and she took him in and fed him and cleaned him up. He was scared that she was going to call the police on him but she said she wasn’t going to do that. They bet Billy two dollars that his dogs couldn't catch the “ghost coon.” When Billy and his dogs went to hunt the coon, they had treed him after a while. The Pitchard boys said they wanted the coon dead, so Billy climbed the tree to see if the coon was there before he cut it down. The coon was in the tree, but when Billy went to get his ax he saw that one of the boys had fallen on the blade. The boy asked Billy to remove the ax, so he did, but the boy ended up bleeding to death.

There was a young Boy named Steve which had parents named Kelli and Matt. They were a very poor family and almost didn’t have enough money for school let alone food. Steve always got bullied at school all the time because he was very poor. Steve in his free time would try to steal food from carts in the big apple, New York. One day the family got a new better job in Minnesota for more money so Steve and his parents moved over to Minnesota from New York. His parents boss payed for the flight. Once they got all the furniture over to Minnesota the only thing that needed to go there then was the family on the last trip. Steve wanted to move because he got bullied at his old school and he thought this school would give him better opportunities to not be bullied and picked on.
