When I started this project, my thinking was ¨why would they carve croatoan and cro and not just one or the other and why carve it and not write it? So I decided to put the letters “croatoancro” in an anagram solver and one word was undefined but as two words there was raccoon taro, and the word raccoon originated from them, in Virginia which could have been a code of some sort that only John White and his family knew about and taro is a tropical asian plant which was very popular in Asia and worth many. My end theory is that an asian ship was making a voyage to the new land to try and grow the Taro plants and the ship was leaking and crash landed on Roanoke. The Asian explorers offered the chance for the colonists to come with them and live …show more content…
The Asian explorers knew they couldn't let the refusing villagers spill the beans about them being there, so they planned to kill the refusing half when the repairs were done with their ship(which they used the houses for). Eventually, one of the villagers figured out and made a plan to stage they were running to Croatoan but they actually went into hiding with Indians to throw the Asian explorers off their tail. The remaining half went into hiding and were eventually able to communicate with John White, which explains his mysterious disappearance. I believe they went into a secret colony in the area of John White’s planned “Cit-tie of Raleigh”, which was hidden on a map that had been sitting in the British Museum, in London. When historians were looking at a new area of the map rarely focused on, which was the island itself. Before, historians focused on the beach, but when nothing showed up, they started to work inland, discovering many things, but not the right things until they noticed a patch on the paper where they believed before that John White just messed up and that was his form of white out, and it was never bothered again until a non profit research group insisted that it be viewed under infrared and discovered a symbol under the
The Crucible was created to described what really happened in these witch trials, and the effects it had on the Colony itself. There was more than 50 men and women accused of witchcraft but less than 20 were hung. The town embraced their trials as a template for their envy of hate.
“Croatoan” was carved into a tree.John white told the colonists before he left for England

First, the author claims that the word “Crotoa” is founded onto a piece of wood, that illustrates that they sended a message. As a result only there is one explanation for this, the settlers relocated the Island of Croatoa. However, the professor opposes this point by saying that this does not indicates they relocated Croatoa. If they encountered any trouble while the governor away,
On Wednesday August 31st 2016 in North Muskegon Michigan, Brittany Miller and six year old son Granderson went shopping at a local grocery store. As they made their way up and down each individual isle Granderson suddenly began making high pitched screeching sounds. Just as some other autistic individuals, Granderson is more sensitive to sound. Therefore as a coping mechanism, Granderson often will imitate the sound of a fire alarm to help him deal with the overwhelming sounds and noise. Miller explains shortly after her son began to display this behavior it was only a few brief moments afterward, that she turned around to find a note that was placed upon her bag that read: “You need to buy that kid a muzzle!!”. His mother expresses that she

Our groups theory on what happened to the Lost Colony is, either the Croatans took them away, or they came and killed them. We believe that they might have made some of the Indians angry and they had war between the Lost Colony. We also think that some died from lack of resources and the others died when the Croatoans came and invaded.
John White came back a month later, but nobody was there. He walked around and noticed that the word Croatoan was carved into a wooden post. John recognized the name and realized that it was the name of the island south of Roanoke, home of the native american tribe of the same name. John had no idea where they went and was very confused on why they left. He kept walking around, but nothing was gone just the Roanoke
The civil war did reduce sectional antagonist a huge amount but it also made the United states One Nation. The war was a test for the nation or in this case ANY nation for those dedicated to see if they could endure and a final resting place for those who died and for the nation to live. There was division between the north and the south which eventually brought upon the Brutal Civil War. In president Andrew John’s Amnesty proclamation, the Union forgave the confederate and made them swear on an oath to faithfully support, protect, and defend the constitution of the United States. “The union eventually showed that they had no “antagonist” against the south which made the United States One nation once again. The soldiers that risked their lives
In 1760, when George III was made kind of England, he saw that Britain are in debt because of the seven years’ war, he decided to make a way out by making the colonies be part of the payment. Likewise, he increases the taxes and make sure they did not enough partner to trade with so that they can gain more profits. To the people in the colonies they felt it was a cheat and violation of “Navigation Act” (Foner 186). Just because they did not have a representative in the parliament. In 1761, James Otis was a lawyer, who stood against the writs of assistance to combat smuggling (Foner 186). The writs were a search houses if there is an evidence of smuggling goods. In addition, some people who do not support the stamp Act oppose it and differentiate between “internal taxes” from the stamp duty, brought about the idea that the parliament do not have the right to impose any thing on them or their trade. Above all, they do not have right to tax American since they do not have
The war delayed White’s return trip back three years, making it difficult for the colonist because they didn’t know how to start a colony so they didn’t farm nor begin any type settlement. On August 1590, White was finally able to return to Roanoke and those left behind, where he had left before his family and the rest of the English settlers three years ago. Once he arrived back at Roanoke he found nothing whatsoever, no trace or indication of whether or not they were alive except a few clues and a wooden post with the word “Croatoan” carved into it. White thought the writing meant the colonists had moved to an island nearby, but later search found none of the settlers. It is still unknown the cause of their disappearance, maybe it could’ve been the harsh weather conditions or did the colonists peacefully joined the natives, or even Spanish attacks. This led to White ending the idea of any form of settlement on any Roanoke island. The fate of the people at Roanoke still remains a mystery today but this didn’t England’s desire to claim territory in the new world. This cause English settlers to go westward in search now of
When you see yourself living out your dream, the thought of what you're most passionate about pulls you in. Passions in one's life change based on what had affected that person. Dreams are defined to change. However, the benefits of these thoughts is that they belong to you and only you. Not one person's opinions matter but your own. Chris McCandless simply was living out his own ideal life, the way he wanted; not to the idea of his parents, his friends or of society. McCandless wanted to escape society and civilization which he felt was tying him down, while also trying to discover himself. McCandless is not by any means a wacko. He was simply defying society and its ideal expectation it holds upon us as a whole.
The two previous expeditions that had been sent to this region by Sir Walter Raleigh had been unsuccessful in establishing a settlement. The first group had simply returned to England. The second group had left fifteen men to stay on the island to start a colony. The third group had expected to find these men when they arrived, but the logs of Fort Raleigh had been pulled down. One corpse was found and it became clear that the destiny of the others was not good, and none had survived (“The Lost Colony of Roanoke” 2).

This was the second reading assignment that we received in class. Emily White posted about how she believes that illegally downloading music is ok and does not affect the artist. To counteract this a professor named David Lowery from a college in Georgia wrote a letter to her about how illegally downloading music was in fact wrong and proceeded to explain why. After reading we were assigned a persuasive essay. In the essay we had to compare and contrast what Emily White stated and David Lowery’s response to her statements. This helped me to critically read because not only was I reading White’s point of view but Lowery’s as well and from that I had to form a conclusion about whether or not illegally downloading music was wrong or
