Many things have prepared me to be a successful student at Jones College Prep. The following are the main things that have and continue to prepare me to attend Jones.
My dad passed away when I was 12 years old. It traumatized me of course, but it also taught me to be courageous and to not give up no matter how hard the situation is. I know my dad would have been very proud of me for trying to apply to this school. He was the bravest, most dependable person I have ever known.
After my father's death my mom, my little sister and I moved to a small city in Brasil. I did not know how to speak Portuguese but I had to start school. After a few month I was the best student in my class and I had learned the language. That taught me how important
Losing my mother, the most important person to me , was a life changing event that altered the way I see the world. Knowing that she is in a better place and at peace is everything I could've wanted for my mother. As me and my siblings grow older we miss her more every day. I have learned never to take someone for granted because we aren't promised forever with them. We have to make the most of who and what we
Ela-Vernon East was the first name of today’s Adlai E. Stevenson High School. Ela-Vernon East was the second school in the Ela-Vernon Township High School District with district offices in Lake Zurich. Because of the growing disagreement between Ela-Vernon West and Ela-Vernon East, current Stevenson, about the direction the school should take, Adlai E. Stevenson High School was born in November 1965. The school was to open as a school for freshman and sophomores living in the area. Juniors and seniors were to continue to attend Ela-Vernon West in Lake Zurich (http://www.d125.org).

Established in 1876, the school was relocated once in 1905 and again in 1928 to accommodate the growing student population. The first building to house Fairmont High School was the Second Ward Building on the corner of Adams and Quincy. Between 1872, when the building was constructed, and 1892 the building jointly held the public and normal schools of Fairmont despite the public school and normal department's separation in 1875. Fairmont High School was founded in the Second Ward Building in 1876, and the first graduating class consisted of four students in 1877. Increased enrollment and the need for additional facilities eventually lead to the construction of a new
Trees are going up, ornaments are being hung, and presents are being placed under the tree, ready to be opened. It’s no lie that the holidays are approaching, as children make their lists for the things they want. For some, however, making a list is not a option, some families will not to be able afford new toys and gadgets for this upcoming holiday, or just everyday essentials. For some, the holidays are a struggle to get families decent gifts. At Northrop High School, students and their families live like this everyday, never being able to afford the essentials due to having little funds.
On the dark and stormy night of October 27th, superheroes, princesses, and critters of all kinds invaded Sullivan High School. They weren’t there to cause Halloween havoc, but to participate in Key Club and FCCLA’s Reading in Disguise event.

Seaman High School has many policies that keep its students in check and ready for the everyday life outside of it. The rule that I find non-beneficial to its students is, the parking fee it charges us who drive to school. Money that the school obtains from this fee isn’t used beneficially for its students in the correct way; for example, every winter when we have a heavy output of snow or ice on the ground, nothing is done to the parking lots, to ensure student safety. A parking fee should be used for the up keep and safety level of the parking lot. So, why should we have to pay a fee to drive to school when it isn’t used to benefit us? For this reason, our school should do away with a parking fee, if we are to be charged to park here, then
Lonestar College is the first college that I study in the United States. Everything is new and completely different from my hometown but especially it is very impressive. It was very difficult for me to integrate and to properly handle everything, Lonestar College has helped me a lot, and since then Lonestar College has become very close to me as a second home.

In fifth grade I found out my mom had breast cancer. I didn’t fully understand what it meant at the time, but as I got older I understood the severity of the situation my mother had to face. Eight surgeries and seven years later she is cancer free but still faces severe nerve damage and lots of doctors appointments and physical therapy. This put strains on me to take care of her and to do everything in my power to make her day easier by having one less thing to worry about: me. This was, and continues to be my driving force and motivation in school, my extra curriculars, and every day life choices.
While most people tend to overlook it; Smithville High School has an issue with drugs. The drugs are negatively affecting the students taking the drugs and the students surrounded by others doing drugs.
Closed lunch at Seaman High School should be modified to an open lunch hour. Currently, Seaman High School has a closed policy for lunch which basically means that students are not allowed to exit the building to pick up lunch during their regularly scheduled lunch hour; as well as have lunch delivered to them at the high school. I as well as many high students argue against this policy and would like to have it changed. In fact, the closed lunch policy has been an on going topic that students as well as parents have brought before the Board of Education at their regularly scheduled board meetings. During the public communications section of the school board meeting, students and parents have debated the
Byron High School has been a great place for me to grow and complete my high school education. With it’s wonderful staff and positive learning environment this school has helped me reach my highest potential. I believe with the education I have rechieved I will be able to reach my goal of becoming a kindergarten teacher.
New trends are set everyday by celebrities with glorious amounts of money. With today’s society people prioritize wealth and looks over anything intellectual. Others would do anything to make their children happy even if it is comprised of spending three hundred dollars on one pair of shoes. The classification groups at Walton High School are very simple. Those who dress nice come from a wealthy family while the others come from a poor, struggling family. Classifying the students like this was made from the people with money. This assumption is inaccurate, unfair, and is also a result of people competing for the most wealth within a school.
