English 102 is a college level of reading and writing course based on the theme monster. When I started the class, I thought monsters as scary creature in the books and movies. As I progressed in English 102, I found out monsters is more than what I though t is. Monsters can represent the fear of people and society, a problem in a society, something that is keep coming back and coming back(Such as financial crisis), natural hazard and danger. It also can serve as a warning; so, people avoid the same mistakes.
In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania of 1837, the first higher education institution for African Americans was founded on February 25th given the name Institute for Colored Youth (originally the African Institute). After changing its name again to Cheyney University of Pennsylvania and moving to Delaware County, Pennsylvania, it continues as the oldest predominantly African American school of higher learning. The institute was founded by Richard Humphreys, a Quaker philanthropist who donated 10,000 dollars to establish a school that would educate young African American male and females the skills needed to become more competitive in the job market (Conyers, 1990). The school taught basic subjects such as math, reading and writing, as well as agriculture and mechanics. Humphreys envisioned the institute to train people of color to become teachers who would further instruct more young men and
While attending Liberty Univeristy, I started out as a Business Major, but after a few accounting classes I decided to be an Accountant. UIC Honors College has always been my ambition since the day I decided to go to college. One of the main reason to go to Honors College is because it gives me opportunity to work with Excellent Professor and also learning under their guidance is the prestige experience that I want to gain in my life. Not only that, by getting those need and merit based scholarships would help me fulfill my priority, to support my family financially. I want myself to be part of the leadership opportunities that the honors college offers. Moreover, being a constituent of the community that encourages the development of academic excellence helps me to gain important parts of my life that will be helpful in my future. Moving forwards,
I do not agree with decision of Centenary College. The liberal arts is an important thing for our college students in America. Liberal arts will make you smarter and ready for the real world. Taking these classes will make you smart and will help you get a good job. If it were me making the decision, the college would still have liberal arts classes. Cutting liberal arts would be like cutting a history class. We need classes like this to help us be successful. Many people are not taking these classes any more. According to a professor, liberal arts colleges have dropped from two hundred and two in nineteen ninety to one hundred thirty-six in two thousand nine. The Wisconsin Lutheran College quite teaching political science after losing a three
As a hard-working, committed individual, I believe that being a member of National Honors Society will significantly benefit my personal character, academic achievements, and social life. After conducting some research on National Honors Society, I have come to learn that NHS needs students that exemplify the qualities of character, service, scholarship, and leadership to be qualified for membership. By being qualified for this outstanding opportunity, I believe that I can attain leadership skills, and confidence which can be beneficial in the years to come.
This social issue has been in the spotlight for quite some time now and is the leading cause for students to miss school, become less social, cause self harm and even in some cases death. Bullying and harassment are commonly seen for the most part amongst teenagers who face issues at school, not only does this happen here in the United States, but in schools universally. ¨17% of American students report being bullied 2 to 3 times a month or more within a school semester¨ (Valerie). Although this is mostly seen among teens it can also happen between children and even adults. Bullying can occur everyday throughout Madera High School and no one would be able to acknowledge or stand up for the victim. Vice Principals at MHS have said that more
To conclude, Miami Dade College offers innumerable opportunities, not only to its valued students, but also to its employees. Miami Dade College is a family of change makers and enthusiasts who always aim for greatness. Miami Dade has been the catalyst in my synthesis as a competitive student who refuses to stand still and watch innovation from a distance. This school has taught me to embrace change and adapt to quickly changing situations, since that is what constitutes life. My life has been a chain of events that lead to bigger events, and my stay in the college has been the biggest event that culminated in the fusion of a hardworking, perseverant, competitive, indebted young person with the right tools to flourish. I’m successful because
Pomona College was fused on October 14, 1887, by a gathering of Congregationalists who needed to reproduce on the West Coast "a school of the New England sort," one that would speak to the absolute best of what they had encountered as understudies in the finest universities of the Eastern and Midwestern United States.
Eureka College’s lines of communication have increased in a positive way over the last year, I believe that’s due to the new leadership in the college of communication role. Eureka College’s number one system to communicate for any crisis on campus we use RAVE. This systems alerts everyone who is in the college’s system. Eureka College use to have three different emailing systems that went out over the course of a week, having three different types of emailing systems became very overwhelming. Now there is just “College of Communications and the Re Devil Report.” These two emailing systems provide information from new hires, organization updates, community information, higher education information, spotlight on someone, games, updates, and anything else important. Vice President Dr. Jamel San Cruz Bell is in charge of all internal and external communications that are campus wide messages. Only certain staff and faculty members are allowed to send mass emails to others on campus. Those people are usually:
Dartmouth College dates back to the early days of America, founded in 1769 by “the Rev. Eleazar Wheelock”. It was actually founded for the purpose of giving education to native Americans, and there was one native American who helped raise the money needed for the college, in this way being interesting because the Indians often had hostile feelings towards the whites. It was an interesting idea to create a college mainly meant to educate the Indians, who were from the white’s view uneducated and barbaric, and that the college would go on to become as prominent as it has.
My view of Monroe High School is that it is getting better but it still has a lot of work to do to improve. Since I have attended Monroe High School the school has been pushing towards the right direction when it comes to the education of it’s students. The school has innovated different classrooms in the institution which are called “the class of the future”. these classrooms include exclusive new smart boards and computer monitors the size of TV screens that surround the class that can be easily connected to chromebooks that the school provides for the students. Before the grading scale was changed to the ten point scale the number of Monroe High School students that achieve “A” “B” honor roll would increase each grading period. Now that
It just so happens that the lack of certain classes affect how "boring" or "entertaining" school is. Such classes are that of art, which can be essential to some teenage growth. My school is no exception, Odenville Middle School needs an art class.
