A week after Holloway’s disappearance, police arrested the last men seen with Holloway: Joran Van der Sloot, Deepak Kalpoe, and Satish Kalpoe. In the beginning, the stories of all three men matched. They stated that they all went to the beach and eventually dropped Holloway back off at the Holiday Inn. However, this claim was proven to be false after video tapes were reviewed showing that the Kalpoe car never went to the hotel (Joran van der Sloot Biography, 2016).
The two Kalpoe brothers then changed their story and told authorities that Holloway made them leave her and Joran van der Sloot at a fishermans hut on the beach nearby. The brothers went on to say that they never heard from Natalee again (Joran van der Sloot Biography, 2016).

They also arrested his father on the belief that he helped dispose of the body and helped to coach the testimony of the three men. With no evidence they could be held on, and because of the fact Joran’s father was affluent, authorities had to release the men (Joran van der Sloot Biography, 2016).
Over the course of the investigation, several individuals were arrested and questioned. The stories of the three main figures, the Kalpoe brothers and Joran van der Sloot, changed continuously, especially that of Joran.
