I was not able to attend the first friday art trail because of work. However, I did have three pieces of art that stood out to me.
This first piece is a fantasy art painting by Josephine Wall. This piece of painting stood out to me because it was so pretty. The colors she used just went to well together. I loved how angeli the little girl looks. This photo has so much going on in it. I love all the flowers and the mystical feel the painting has to it. I know Josephine uses mostly acrylic paint because it allows her to paint quickly and textured colored effects. This is how she is able to create that fantasy look. I also love the many colours too. You can see by looking left to right how the colors go from a warm look to a more cool look. She

This painting is truly beautiful. I love how the flute acts as this magical instrument. As you can see she is playing the instrument but the noise that comes out seem so beautiful. She music seems to be flow and very intoxicating. Now if we look more at the artist, Josephine Wall, she is famous for these types of paintings. In fact she is a popular English fantasy artist and sculpture. Josephine attended college at Bournemouth. She then worked at Poole Pottery as a designer and painter She was born May of 1947. Now Josephine is still painting in the attic in her house. She is married and has children. She continues to get instiripartion from nature to create these amazing fantasy art pieces.
This next piece is call Mouth #11 by Tom Wesselmann. This stood out to me because I found it very fascinating. I loved how it is so simple yet so much detail is added to it. For example the shading on the lips you can clearly tell this is a women smoking the cigarette. You can see the shade of lipstick that is left on the top of the cigarette. You can see how the cigarette is bringing ad how the ash is left on the

I love this painting because it is so simple yet so elegant. This painting is so well drawn and painted. The colors he used was so simple. The way he captured the painting almost seems as if it could've been a picture taken. Even though this painting is two dimensional he use curved lines to make the painting jump out at you. When I first saw this painting it was in the Dallas Museum of Art. This painting was made in 1936 and was made with oil on board. This painting show the beauty of the cotton boll. You can also see the negative in the background. You are able to see the farm and the road that leads up to a house. This painting is lovely and it jumped right at me. Otis Dozier was the artist of this painting and was born in 1904 and died in 1987. Otis was a painter, teach, and print maker who became a member of the Dallas Nine who were a group of regionalist artist. Otis was very prominent in the Dallas Art community. He was in the Dallas artist league and later taught at Dallas School of Creative Arts. He was very well known and a good artist. He also won many prizes in several Allied Art Expeditions and Texas General Exhibitions. He now has many paintings that are held in the Dallas Museum of Art. Otis Dozier was a very successful artist and big in
This painting is a portrait of an old woman who is sitting on a chair while facing to the left. She is wearing a yellow flower dress with a beige jacket while sitting in an empty room. Her beauty is illustrated by her curly, gray hair and also her wrinkled face, neck, and hands. These details is what makes her look real and pure. I like how detailed it is because it reminds me of my grandmothers.
This painting is colorful and suggests a color harmony by using a lots of adjacent colors. It has grey, yellow, brown, green and light blue in the background; it has organic human skin and lip color on the body. Since this work shows nature and human being, it has a real texture. Her body is closer to the viewer, but small hills, trees and mountains are further, which gives it a
One of the aspects I believe unifies this painting is, as I talked about above, the continuation of the blue of the woman’s clothing continuing up into her hair, which gives the piece a sense of wholeness and relativity. There is also balance in this piece, for while the woman’s head is offset, this is balanced out by the elongation of her shoulder and arm in the right side of the image. Variety is also achieved in this piece through the use of a variation of hues and a lot of tonal difference. Emphasis is placed upon the hair with the use of an unnatural hair colour, as well as the face where light colours are used to highlight and pull the attention. Space is not so much of an active principle in this piece, but is still present nonetheless. Beryl is placed in the middle of the painting, with her taking up roughly 50% of the space, and the rest taken up by background.
Her artwork really got my attention because of the large water painting of flowers, trees, leaves, and the landscape
The work I selected was Routes of Influence which is a piece of art with words incepted within. This piece is said to have been based on the inspiration of emphasizing trajectories and this generation’s multi-directional sense of culture. Unfortunately, there are no specific details on who exactly made this piece but the Perez Art Museum.
In this painting, the detail is meticulous. The artist has used a vibrant palette of oil colors.
This is rectangular piece, the size of 65.1 x 54.9 cm. Looking from a distance, painting has a uniform color spectrum. Artist uses mostly warm earth tone palette: beige, grey, yellow and burnt umber, with black for creating outline of the forms, and occasional multicolored patches for additional accents. There is no visible source of light, however lighter areas of the painting are focused in the center, while more contrast and darker areas tend to be around the middle section. From a distance, brushstrokes look more unified, but when looking up closer, we can notice that artist, while blending colors, uses distinctive strokes. So even blended, colors create some visual texture. There is no noticeable degree of perspective or depth, painting looks rather flat.
Marla is a talented artist but, is not a prodigy. She can not explain parts of her painting, video footage of Marla painting are different styles and her family may be helping her with her paintings. When Stuart Simpson explains how he saw a door and the baby's head. Marla not only says she did not see it but also cannot explain what goes into her paintings. Simpson is in an expert in this field as an art critic. If an expert can see it should not the creator be able to see something. Another reason Marla is not a prodigy is she has a different painting style in the ones we have footage than the ones Amir did not videotape. In the Backyard Painting, Marla is shown just swiping paint around into what looks like a flowers and Suns. While in Zane
One artist painted a beautiful portrait of their mother which was incredibly detailed and proportioned. Another artist painted a city landscape which made the big buildings pop out by its amazing depth and shades. The final artist painted a large group of fishes; they added in warm colors to create a relaxing mood.
After I spent most of the afternoon perusing the paintings in the online galleries, I finally selected an oil on canvas painting titled Flowers in a Vase. The artist is Rachel Ruysch and it is displayed at The National Gallery in London. There are many things that I find interesting about this particular piece, aside from its obvious beauty. The most prominent is being painted by a woman.
Closely inspecting the canvas, I initially noticed that the painting was created using a series of thick, short brushstrokes compiled on top of one another almost creating a 3-D effect. Upon first glance you are
The artwork I chose from the Year 12 Body of Art Exhibition was from the collection titled Human Nature, created by Kelly Robinson. The assortment of pieces explored many different art forms as well as an array of different techniques. I thought the whole collection showed a wonderful connection between people and nature and how much they work alongside each other in our world. The piece I chose to draw was in the form of a sculpture, using black perspects and the laser cutter in the technology department Kelly was able to make a fascinating and intriguing piece. The sculpture is a silhouette of the side of a girls face, we know this because she has her hair in a bun, over the top and in the foreground leaves are printed onto the face and in
Inner self is the main theme of the next and final artist in this exhibition. Using paper molds
The second sculpture I want to talk about today is “Campus Talk” by Dennis Smith. This is another permanent sculpture on Western Michigan University and is one that everyone usually sees when they are heading to the library. This sculpture is my third favorite one on campus at this point in time. The sculpture has two students talking to another student on a bike. Dennis Smith also did a superb job using the elements of art throughout this sculpture. When observing the sculpture, the first thing you notice is the contour lines in the sculpture such as the book cover, fingers, and the straps on the backpack. These lines help define the outside edges of the sculpture. The next element of art that one can see in this sculpture is shape. The wheel on the bike is a geometric shape because it is a circle. This a great example of this element and one that anyone who views it can find. The third element present in this sculpture is value. In the sculpture, there is a bit of a grey scale although the sculpture is mostly light green now due to the weather. The fourth element present in this sculpture is the texture. The sculpture has a simulated texture which means that it
When I saw the painting for the first time it grabbed my attention. At first I thought it was the beautiful colors that attracted me to the painting, but it was more. In the picture the shadowy men look scared. They looked as though they were trying to run away from something and this lake that forms into this river that is surrounded by tall grass is the way out, or at least a place to hide until the coast is clear. During that time in my life I felt
