An Essay by Josie Sopha on My Career to be When I was young, and living in Duluth, Minnesota, I loved animals and still do. My three sisters and I would take in any creature we found and help it survive or keep it warm. Our family We were only children and didn’t know any better, but Addie found a dead mouse in our yard and brought it into the house. She kept him and named him Freddy. When my mom asked her what she was going to do with him she replied, “We can take him out and look at him.” We had him for about a week until our mom got rid of him because of the smell. We were devastated but eventually found ourselves new pets to care for. One of which, was a chipmunk. We used to have a stack of wood outside for our fireplace and every once

My daughter wanted to adopt a dog, and started visiting shelters. She would send me pics of her and dogs while at the shelter. One day a few months after she started, I was at work... a thought came to me to call my daughter and tell her to meet me at the Animal Shelter of Queens, we were going to adopt a dog. Without hesitation, that's what I did, and we adopted my Cheech, that was in 2006.
This is Olivia Fatigato from All Music and I am here today to review some songs that are great and some that are not the best. I will be reviewing 2 songs that I liked and 2 songs that I disliked. I rate H.O.L.Y by Florida Georgia Line a 5/5 and If I Die Young by The Band Perry a 5/5 because they are very good songs that should make people happy. I do not like All We Know by the Chainsmokers, I rate it a ⅖ because it is not a great song because it has a weird tone. I rate Springsteen by Eric Church a ⅗ because it is very over played.
Early October a few years ago I was coming home from my grandma's house. When I walked in the door to my house and saw a strange box. I saw what was inside of the box and immediately was filled with joy and many questions to ask. I’ve always wanted a cat but my mom and dad wouldn’t let me have one in the house. In the drop of a hat I asked my dad where the kitten came from and if it was really ours. He said he found the kitten on the farm without a mother to care for it. Hearing that made put very sad thoughts in my mind. My dad went on telling me that the kitten could die if we didn’t keep it warm, teach it to use the litter box, and make it drink milk from a bottle. It was a long journey of fear and worry as the kitten got sick many times.
For as long as I’ve known Elayna, I’ve never known her to give up on any of her convictions. Not only is she a dedicated student, a passionate basketball player, and a potter in spare time, she’s also very much an animal person, and she’ll say so. Last year when she had the opportunity to volunteer at Antler Ridge, a wildlife rescue center, she enthusiastically took it, even though it meant getting rabies shots. She’s volunteered there every Saturday since, and oftentimes she’ll bring back stories and photos to share over dinner, trying to convince us to adopt stray kittens and rodents that desperately need a home. I’m not a cat person in the slightest, but Elayna has managed to convince even me to consider, albeit briefly, the benefits of
I've always loved animals, and growing up I've always had dogs. I currently have two dogs and one of them just had three little puppies. The picture I have is of my dog Tori. Tori means so much to me because she's so loving and can always cheer you up.
All my animals now have either died or we had to give away. I wanted some new animals, but I wanted a normal animal. I really wanted a cat, a kitten in particular. My mom knows I love animals and always love to be around animals, so she agreed to getting a kitten! I'm in school a lot now, so my mom decided next weekend we would go look for a kitten. I could not wait for that weekend to come!
When I was 7 years old, I fell in love with a psychotic cat. I’ve always had an affinity for animals; I had two dogs and 30 fish that occupied a huge tank in my dining room by the time I was 5--but I loved this cat. She was a birthday present from my mom, who let me pick any kitten I wanted. When I went to choose, a black cat with orange and white splotches climbed up her cage to get my attention. I put her front paws on my shoulder and her hind legs under my hand as she started to play with my hair as if it was yarn. I wanted to take her home right then.
For my whole life, it seems like, I’ve been in love with acting, and animals. Ever since preschool I have been involved with dramas and musicals. Back in 2009 I discovered Richmond Civic Theatre. The first show I was in was The Nutcracker. It was the start of my acting career. Later on in highschool I discovered a program that my school offered, the Vocational Career Program. The class that most appealed to me was the Veterinary Science class. My reasoning to join this class at first, was my love for animals. Once I got accepted into the class, my views changed on what my possibilities were. I learned that this class was not just about loving animals, but also about what their purposes are, what their behavior means, how to count medication,
My father didn't want me to get a pet, at the same time, he wanted me to just stop asking for it. I woke up early in the morning and I saw a small plastic box, my father told me: you wanted a pet? Here you go. I looked inside that box, and I was shocked. It was a baby Nile Crocodile! I still remember his sharp tiny teeth and his striking yellow eyes. My first touch turned out to be the first bite. It bit my finger (although it didn’t hurt me that much) I pulled my hand out quickly. My father thought that I would hate animals since that day, but that wasn't the case. He wanted to return it, but I refused. It was just the beginning of
My family has always had pets. Dogs, cats, hamsters, fish and really every other kind of animal that was available to have live in your home. But dogs were one of the most meaningful to us, and there came a time where we didn’t have one. Not having a dog made life boring and quiet. My mom had made it clear that we weren't getting a dog any time soon, and we had to be okay with that.
As I got older, I discovered where and how I could get my hands on other animals. Probably within one hundred feet of me while at the pond was another amphibian. Under logs at the edge of the woods were salamanders trying to stay cool under the damp wood. I would look under all these longs until I finally came upon one and then I would run to my dad or grandma to show them my discovery. Their praise helped push my drive to find more critters.
Animals have been a part of my family's life before I was even born. According to my mother, we used to have two dogs by the names of Junior and Tiki. My family had a hard time opening up to the dogs apparently, as in Vietnam, my family had always been wary of them due to fear of rabies or other diseases that they were believed to have carried. However, when my uncle decided to bring them home, my older cousins ignored the warnings of their parents and embraced the little puppies.
Taking care of animals was something I learned at a young age. My family and I had all sorts of pets when I was growing up. From goldfish and rats to dogs and cats, we always had some sort of animal in the house to care for. All of us learned to be responsible for their well-being, even though sometimes it took a lot of patience. When we committed to another pet, we understood that it was our job to make sure that they were given the best life possible.
Most of my childhood I’ve had pets or more specifically dogs around me. Having a pet around to feed,
