The book is broken into five sections. The first section tells the beginning of Operation Barbarossa. This was the German codename for the invasion Russia. Although the Germans managed to capture vast amounts of territory, the Soviet military was able to halt the German advance. To regain the momentum, Hitler decides to proceed with the capture of Stalingrad. In addition to gaining access to the fuel in the Caucasus Mountains from the capture of the city, Hitler would destroy the city that bears the name of Soviet dictator, Joseph Stalin.

One of the worst things that happened constantly in the camps did not just have to watch people die, or eve seeing the massive piles of dead bodies but the Germans made the Jews burn their fellow prisoners bodies in the crematoriums. The Jews were taken out of their homes and thrown into camps, while watching people die all around them if cruel and violent conditions as the Germans heartlessly treated them like animals.

It has been days. I stumble, foot over foot to the crack of sunlight that beams into the car. Bang! You door just got broken down by German officers. They yell at you and treat you with disrespect. They accuse you as a Jew and take you to a concentration camp. Well that's what it was like during the Holocaust. Hearing things about the bloodshed history makes you not wanna be alive during that time period, but a boy named Zigmond had to deal with the compelling plans of Hitler.

Hunger. Pain. This is all the Jews feel as they walk through the mud and muck. “Will this ever end”, they think. A few days pass and there are less of them. They can see the smoke rise in the distance; smell the stench of burning flesh. Their bones stick out in sharp angles. Their stomachs ache with the need for food. Months pass and it’s the same routine. Walk. Pain. Work. Hunger. Sleep. Die. All these people know is this. They start to lose hope. Many have died. Many have lost all of their family members. Their children. They start to believe that it will never end. Then, salvation. Soldiers storm the camp. They gather them up. They save them. The expansion to the West in the 19th century was an interesting and incredible time. As the Eastern population of the United States grew, people expanded to the West in search of opportunity. Over population created a lack of jobs and land, so emigration westward was appealing for many. People from many walks of life traveled west and each one experienced their time on the trail a different way. From the time Hitler and the Nazi’s took control of Germany in 1933 until the collapse of the Third Reich in 1945, the aim of the regime under the calculating guidance of Hitler himself sought no less than global conquest. This ambitious objective can be further dissected into short term and long term goals that provide insight into Hitler’s character, thoughts and actions.

We were given a week to receive and put to words the negotiation terms the Fuhrer has given us. The terms are classified so I shouldn’t put them in this journal. We are to depart the Reichland and enter the evil communist country a few days from now. I will not be able to sleep tonight.
