Journey to Finding Someone Out There
Hello, my name is Rainey; you are probably thinking just about now, who named this girl. Well, I have always had that question on my mind as well. What I remember about my childhood (which I might add is not much) is mostly living in this house with about ten other kids who did not have parents either and we living on our worldwide drug Elate, bread and also water. I was told from the older kids that when my mother had dropped me off one day she told the kids that she had been diagnosed with AIDS, and she was going to kill herself. So my best friend was named was Skyleh, she was one of the older kids and she took care of me for many of my

Still, the pace of new infections continues at far too high a level—particularly among certain groups. By all means I could be the 1 in the 6,000 chance area of contracting it.
Anyways back to our drug, Elate, you may have an idea what this drug is. So let me explain what it is. It is what I have heard people used to call "cocaine" or something in that form. And I have also heard that people used to actually pay for this stuff, and used to go to "jail" if they were caught with it or on it. Well nowadays it is completely different; we have to be on it twenty-four hours a day, seven times a week, etc. The drug Elate gives many others such a high, and has got me through some pretty bad times in my life. The older kids have told us that our lives could only last for about forty years, if we are lucky. But forty years of being high; that’s the way I want to live my life. Who really like 's reality in the first place? The only down sides of this drug is that my nose hurts all the time and I do not really sleep, nor eat much; the drug makes me feel full. It is our choice whether we want to sniff the stuff or inject it or do both. I personally switch with both methods every few months. The one thing that I do not do is share needles, that is the huge down side or injecting, some people are so stupid. Well I think I should talk about the world today that is the point of this letter. Well none of my friends have parents; actually a few
The effect of addiction have consumed billions of individuals all over the world, not only consume but also killed. Individuals have relied on drugs to fill the void in their life that is missing. The addict is not only hurting themselves from the drug use but their families, friends, and their community. In this paper, it will give a description of a 21-year-old male named Anthony. Anthony started using marijuana at the age of 20, trying to hide the pain from the death of his sister. Eventually, marijuana was not enough to get Anthony the extra high he wanted which Anthony made the choice to try another drug and eventually it
Gabor Maté’s essay, “Embraced by the Needle” uses client experiences and research to make a valid argument about how drug addictions are not the results of the drug alone, but from suppressed feelings of unhappiness and a lack of nurturing during childhood. Based out of Vancouver, Maté, a physician at a non-profit harm reduction facility, works with individuals who suffer from drug addiction and mental illness. He explores the underlying reasons behind addiction. Maté supports his argument with various patient stories and direct quotations from addicts to give a real life perspective on their inner feelings. Maté also uses statistics and scientific research to describe early brain development in humans and animals. He explains how neglect can cause vulnerability. He also supports his argument with insight behind addicts that come from loving families. These scientific and personal reflections support Matés argument and encourage the reader to agree with his essay.
Most people have a story about how their parents decided on their name, especially those of us who have less common ones. Mine is fairly dry; my parents looked through a book of names and decided that “Maizie” was charming and sweet and would fit me well. My sister’s story, however, is slightly more intriguing. Cleo Arden Seidl, born on August 3rd of 2001, was named by me, Maizie Regan Seidl, when I was just two years and nine months old.
Healthcare is an ever-growing, booming industry and as medical technology advances so should our standards of care. Once known as hospital acquired “nosocomial” infections, Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) are still afflicting the very patients we are to be treating. These patients could be our loved ones, friends, and family so to say that, “1 in 25 hospital patients have at least one HAI in a U.S. acute care hospital” (CDC, 2015), is still one too many.
One day you are living a beautiful and content lifestyle, and then next day you are lying on the floor dead without telling your friends and family you loved them. This could happen to you, if you do not avoid the dodgy lifestyle of a drug user and abuser. Every day drugs, such as: heroine are misused in-order to get a certain feeling called a high. The high is suppose to make you feel good or forget about the world’s everyday problems, but in most cases, the use of these powerful drugs end up hurting, or even killing the users. The PSA “Best High” explains how heroine can easily be influenced into using for amusement. In the Public Service Announcement (PSA), “Best High,” produced by DrugFreeWorldInc, the company is reenacting a story about
Worldwide, infectious diseases kill millions of people each year. In fact, they are the leading killer of children and cause 16% of all global
Throughout history, infectious diseases have impacted communities around the world. Outbreaks of bacteria and viruses in the past have damaged cities and devastated populations. Over the years, new developments in technology have led to advances in medicine and health. The great strides that have been made over the years have helped improve the lives of individuals and have led to a better environment.
Did you know that in 2011, almost five people per hour dies of a drug overdose in the U.S alone? Good morning/afternoon everyone, isn’t it shocking to learn how easy it is to die of a drug overdose, yet, it seems, people in Brave New World are willing to take them in order to retain a permanent happiness holiday 24/7. Drugs both play a massive role in Brave New World and our modern society. I’m sure if I were to ask you if you knew of anyone who has ever tried drugs, I think we all would know the answer. It seems that in The World State you cannot find one person who doesn’t take drugs. Throughout this seminar we are going to see how drugs play an important role in both Brave New World and our modern day society for different reasons but also for some of the same reasons.
As we entered the dim living room we immediately noticed my uncle. He sat there on the ugly floral sofa looking lifeless. Today was his twenty-fourth birthday and we had come over to celebrate. My mother and I brought over cupcakes and streamers. Today was supposed to be a celebration of his life but he was so much closer to death. My mom could tell how alone and scared he was without him even speaking. I looked up at her and could see all the anger in her eyes. She wasn’t mad at her only brother, instead she was mad at heroin. That’s what brought him to this state after all. My uncle is not the only person that’s been brought to this state. Its an epidemic and the only way to win the battle against drugs and addiction is to support the government in finding a solution.
The septicemic plague is rarely transferred from person to person. This plague is a huge issue because it is about 90% chance
Do you ever wonder how many people die from drug abuse each year? An estimated two hundred and eight million people internationally consume illegal drugs a year. (drugfreeworld.org) I hope after you read my paper you have no intensions to take or even be around a drug that can kill you or not even that just hurt you physical or mentally. And don’t forget about your kids because a estimated 8% of the population aged 12 years old and older used drugs without prescription. Just be aware of what your spouse and kids are doing when you aren’t home or even when they aren’t home and out with friends. Just know you have been told.
It is evident, one out of every 25 patients in an acute care setting acquires a HAI the United States alone (Bubb, et al., 2016). Further, HAIs result in a significantly higher morbidity, and mortality, lengths of stay, and cost of health care (McNeill, L. 2017); not to mention the negative health outcomes on families, and communities at large (bubb, et al., 2016). In addition, globalization is another factor that has perpetuated the transmission of infectious diseases as the world population has become more mobile.
On febuary 17, 1999 in Durango Colorado Neil and Sandi McGarraugh had a little baby girl. When Sandi was holding her new baby wondering what she should her, she turned to Neil and ask “What should we name Hannah?” That’s how i was named, by some crazy accident, Hannah Ashley McGarraugh. After i was born i had a normal release and all was well for a short while until one day my moms instincs told her something was wrong. I was acting a completely normal so her sisters and mother told her that she was just freaking out because i was her first child. After going crazy for a week my mom finally decided to take me to the hospital, and i was put into the neonatal intensive care unit for RSV. The doctors told my mom that i was hours away from dying, that she saved
It is very important to immunise against this disease not only because it is a very contagious virus but because it can have some very serious long term effects.
When reflecting on the history of the human species, it is said that the narrative of mankind and infectious diseases are intertwined. For centuries, humans have been exposed to a seemingly infinite amount of contagions. Many viruses, bacteria, and fungi have plagued human beings for ages and have eradicated populations thousands at a time. Through medical innovations and the advancement of scientific knowledge, humans have been able to combat disease and disease-carrying vectors. Through proper hygiene, antibiotics and vaccinations humans have been able to control and eliminate many viruses and bacteria. It would seem that with the growing amount of medical knowledge, that infections would be less common, but this is not the case.
