“The Dreamer'' by Junot Diaz is a heartfelt story about one phenomenal woman chasing her dreams. When Junot Diaz tells the story about his mother’s achievements and how willing she is to be the best at providing for him and his future, Diaz explains what it took for his mother to be as fearless as she is. As Diaz furthers the story about his mother’s death, another person he talks about is his grandmother. Diaz uses his mother’s life as a prime example for other people to show him or her that they can achieve their dreams by having self-determination. Diaz knew his mom was fearless, but he never knew what it took for her to be as fearless as she is. In the story, Diaz uses his mother’s life to tell the world that he came from a strong woman using the rhetorical device anecdote. …show more content…

His mother took matters into her own hands and fought hard. Diaz’s mother is Dominican and she was destined to never get off the mountain or out of the camp. Her mother expected her to work and stay on the family farm until she was married. His mother knew she was way more capable of the standards her mother had set for her. She knew she deserved a chance at succeeding in life. She knew she could be successful. In addition, Diaz goes on and begins to add the following statement “I think of my mother, of course. She’s one of those iron will rarely speak figures that haunt.” using the rhetorical device
