Jonah is from Tonga and has trouble spelling, reading and behaving properly, this is the result of his mother dying, which has led his down this path. Jonah becomes expelled after repetitive disobedience, bullying and harassment of younger students and when he threatens a teacher. Just before Jonah leaves for Tonga he does his recital in front of the class and says his final goodbye. Jonah couldn’t leave without his mark, in this

I can remember the stares and glares of people eyes boring a hole into my body as I stated the elementary school I attended. To me, Booker T. Washington Academy was a place of hard work, recess, and friendship- but to others, Booker T. Washington is "poor," "ghetto," and " unsuccessful school." I have always wanted to debunk these stereotypes, but first I have to acknowledge and accept the fact that Booker T. Washington Academy has poor standardized scores and a high in and out of school suspension rate before I present promising approaches to make Booker T. Washington Academy more successful. Three great techniques for Booker T. Washington Academy to increase their ranking and lower their in and out of school suspension rates is incorporating

In this case the island had little representation and extremely low school funding. For the whole island there was just one school for all grade levels. The school was split into two classes, one with the school principle Mrs. Scott and the second with Conroy. Conroy taught fifth to eighth grade. The funding that the school received appeared to be very minimal because the school had no proper resources to offer the student. Conroy’s class only had a chalkboard with a map and enough desks for the students to sit. They had a projector but it was only used a couple of times. The school it self was only one old building. The schools funding reflects on the student’s performance. A result of not giving children proper resources in school is that the students will not receive progressive academic achievement. In the island one of the reasons as to why these children were not receiving a proper education was because the school did not have the proper resources for the children to learn.

In the southeast corner of Pennsylvania, lies the town of Kennett Square. While it is a part of two school districts, the downtown area is located in the Kennett Consolidated School District. Like with all districts, there are intricacies that make Kennett special. The students are the essence of any school and those that attend affect the climate and culture. Another group of important people in the building is the teachers and administrators that help the school function every day. There are many moving parts in an educational system, and the way they come together tells the story of a school.
As the name implies the Academy of the Pacific Rim highlights Eastern pedagogical customs and practices. Pacific Rim specifically focuses upon two Eastern concepts, gambatte and kaizen. Gambatte is defined for the students of Pacific Rim as meaning “to persist or never give up” (Seider, 2012, p. 164). Kaizen is characterized by the faculty “as a commitment to working for the continuous improvement of the community” (Seider, 2012, p. 164) These two phrases are the foundation of the common language used by Pacific Rim faculty, students, and families to promote civic character education. Gambatte is used as an expression of encouragement when overcoming life’s hurdles. Kaizen drives the manner in which students interact with one another and motivates them to work for the good of the community.
In the rural southern town of Wrongberight, Virginia, the eighty-six residences gather in front of the one room schoolhouse to witness the historic High School Graduation Ceremony, for the Class of 1965, which consist of one student, Homer Gilmore. Shortly after, Reverend Jarvis gave the benediction, and several speeches by local dignitaries, Sally P. Strong, the Principal, called Homer, a shy lanky boy with pale green eyes, sun bleached hair, to the podium, and presented him with his diploma. Afterwards, she placed her arm around Homer’s boney shoulders, and addressed those in attendance – It tickles my heart that I can stand here and share with y’all the most amazing news. Several weeks back Homer received a letter from Princeton University
With almost no governmental support, the donation driven, Every Child Counts School (ECC) is positioned as one of the most highly respected learning institutions in the Abaco islands. This respect is generated through the schools commitment to compassionate, ethnically inclusionary practices in assisting young community members whom might otherwise be ineligible or omitted by the public school system due to the disabilities they live with. As a mature, visiting placement student, I was welcomed and immediately indoctrinated into the schools philosophy around care and support.
