We submit here a proposal outlining new applications of virtual reality (VR) towards therapeutic treatments within healthcare. Specifically, we recommend that the Kaiser Medical Groups consider implementing new VR-based therapies within their hospitals in order to improve the quality of patient care and in some cases, to reduce the cost of treatments. Given your previous involvement co-founding Kaiser’s Venture Investment Program and your keen eye for spotting promising new technological innovations within healthcare, we believe you are the best person to consider our proposal on behalf of Kaiser. Your consideration of our proposal is greatly appreciated. We look forward to hearing from you.
In the United States, the convergence of rising healthcare costs and the pursuit of value-based healthcare are driving the growth of consumer engagement in healthcare. Insurance premiums for workers and employers have been steadily rising for years. Overall, the Kaiser Family Foundation estimates a 58% increase in total premiums over the last ten years. When examining the dollar amounts that workers contribute, the average annual contributions for single and family coverage for 2016 are $1,129 and $5,277 respectively. Finally, between 2006 and 2016 covered workers’ average dollar contribution to family coverage has increased 78% (Exhibit A) (Kaiser, 2016). At the same time, reports demonstrating quality variations began to surface. These high
Jones Regional Medical Center is a huge academic health center with 900 beds and are known for its research and teaching hospitals. Additionally, the IT staff at Jones supports 300 applications and 12,000 workstations. The center uses Technology Med (TechMed) for their admitting system. The system includes registration, inpatient charge, payment entry, master patient index, admission, hospital billing, and more. The TechMed system has been accessible since 1998; Jones is beginning to plan a replacement of this systems because of the fragility of the software (Wager, 2013).
In mid-April 2000, Sherri Worth was faced with some very unsettling news about Pate Memorial Clinic’s future with a competitor potentially moving into the area. Worth was the assistant administrator at Pate Memorial Hospital (PMH) and was also responsible for the Pate Health Clinic (PHC). A study by the competitor was being done to see whether sufficient demand existed to establish a clinic 5 blocks north of PHC. The two biggest concerns in regards to the new competition were:
We thank you for your consideration of our request, and look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
Established in the 1930s by Henry J. Kaiser and Dr. Sidney as a health care program for construction, shipyard, and steel mill employees, in 1945 Kaiser Permanente (KP) opened enrollment to the public (Our History, 2016). Despite many challenges and setbacks, KP has grown to become one of the largest leading healthcare providers (SPEC Associates, 2011; "Labor Management," n.d.). However, is KP ready to meet the health care needs of citizens in the next decade? This paper will delve into KP to assess their readiness as well as their strategic plans regarding network growth, adequately staffing nurses, managing resources, and maintaining patient satisfaction.
2. Should Pacific’s supply policies allow for any medical staff personnel to control sourcing decisions?
Data: Client came to appointment on time with a decent attitude, and engaging during session. Today’s individual session was focused on addressing client’s treatment attendance issue. Client has not attending treatment group consistently, which will put her not in compliance with Kaiser Permanente suboxone program, as well as CD treatment at THS. Client has 7 absences from 03/01/17 – 05/25/17. Client reported no use of alcohol or other substances since started treatment. Client reported going to Kaiser Permanente weekly for counseling, UA, and obtain Suboxone prescription at Capitol Hill, Seattle. PC provided client with information for different OP groups but client stated, “I will make it work. Wednesday group works for me better.”
Case Managers have a challenging job, often dealing with patients, community agencies and facilitating their hospital discharge to the next level of care. They collaborate and communicate with the entire healthcare team and mostly with the patient during the hospitalization process. They act as support for all stakeholders to achieve positive patient outcomes. In this paper, I will be interviewing Ian Mopas, who is a Patient Care Coordinator at Kaiser Permanente in Redwood City about his education, work training, goals, and objectives as a Care Coordinator, and his responsibilities in his organization.
Providing quality delivery care is the cornerstone of Kaiser operation and addressing language needs of the diverse communities it serves is receiving attention from the National Diversity and Inclusion Office. Kaiser’s National Diversity and Inclusion was established with the objective to promote, support, and assist the regions in implementing the Kaiser Permanente Board of Directors agenda in providing culturally competent medical care and culturally appropriate services to improve the health and satisfaction of its members.
I am excited about the offer you extended on October 17, 2017, and look forward to accepting it. I feel confident I will make a significant contribution to the growth and standard of care of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center over the short and long term. The terms you have described in the offer are acceptable, with one minor change.
After reading the Kaiser Family Foundation summary on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, state why or why not you believe the act should remain in law, or which pieces should be reversed. Then describe two pieces of the act that you were unaware was part of the act and how that may affect you as a citizen.
Consequently, virtual reality (VR) therapy is now an alternative that is frequently used as a standard exposure treatment for heights and flying phobias (as cited in Rothbaum et al., 2002, P.428-432). While the professional VR system could be relatively expensive, the study conducted by Malbos, Mestre, Note, & Gellato (2008) suggested that a multi-component therapy that involve VR exposure using mainstream video-game level of editor with powerful 3D engines would also be effective comparing to the professionals after eight
I chose to review the University of Kansas Hospital (TUKH). I currently attend clinical at this facility and have had clinical time there in first semester as well. TUKH is an acute care hospital that treats a vast array of patients. The hospital has an overall ranking of 3/5 stars. According to the information from the “Survey of Patient Experiences” (Medicare, n.d.), TUKH met or exceeded most categories on both the state and national levels. Some subjects that were not met were patients not receiving help as soon as they asked for it, patient rooms not remaining clean, and the hospital being a somewhat noisy environment during sleeping hours. In my opinion, the categories not being met by TUKH are issues that all hospitals face. In such a busy hospital it is hard for patients to receive care at the exact moment they want it because staff are extremely busy. Also, hospitals are loud
