Sonia Sotomayor was born on June 25, 1954 , now in day she is 61 years old. She attended Yale Law School and graduated in the year 1980. She became one of the many U.S. Distract Court Judges in 1992. Then later on in her life (1998) she became a part of the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals. But , what Sonia is most known for is for being the first latinathat is in the Supreme Court Justice in the U.S. in the year 2009. The person who actually nominanted Sonia was President Barack Obama so that she could be part of the Supreme Court Justice. Sonia is making a yearly salary of 1.7 million dollars to 10.3 million dollars. She also has a book which is called My Beloved World. These are some facts on Sonia Sotomayor .

President Barack Obama nominated Sonia Sotomayor for Supreme Court justice on May 26, 2009, making Sonia Sotomayor the first Hispanic female to be nominated for higher court. Sonia Sotomayor was born on June 25, 1954. She is currently a federal judge on the U.S Courts of Appeals for a Second Circuit. If nominated she will be replacing the retiring Justice David Souter and she will also be the first Hispanic and the third female Justice. This will be a huge milestone for the Hispanic community. Currently, she serves as the United States Secretary of Education. For those unaware, Betsy DeVos remains extremely popular in her political party. Gabrielle Dee Giffords, born June 8th, 1970, was a US representative from Arizona(2007 - 2012), and before her life changing experience in 2011 she was the youngest woman to be elected to the Arizona State Senate. Before she was elected into the House of Representatives she had sold her family’s tire business, El Campo Tire Warehouse, to Goodyear Tire. After making her way up to Arizona Senate, she resigned to run for US House of Representatives, and she was the third woman from Arizona to serve in the US House of Representatives.

Her imprint on Chelsea is so deep and permanent. Whether its the Chelsea Recreation Center, Elliot-Chelsea public housing, Hudson Guild, she’s done it all. She was a jack of all trades and an expert on so many issues that concerned the community. Mrs. Martinez is a lady colored in achievements. First of all, achieving the position of Governor is an honor and huge achievement in its own. She was elected in 2010 and still serves as governor today. Another huge accomplishment is that she was New Mexico’s first female Governor. Every other Governor before her was male so her election was important in the fact that women can be in power too. She also has another similar accomplishment, but this one is more personal because she was the first to achieve it. She was the first Hispanic Woman to achieve the title of Governor in the whole United States of America. This is amazing because not only was she the first female governor, but she was also the first Hispanic woman in the nation. Susana Martinez has so many accomplishments in the little time that she has been working as governor. From the beginning of her career as the governor of New Mexico, she started to fix money situations that were happening in New Mexico. She did this in one way by helping balancing the budget of the state. She did this by increasing around 82,000 government personnel’s pensions by 1.75 percent. She then reduced the state’s contribution by the same amount which helped to balance out the funds. Another great thing is that she is truly paying attention to the education of New Mexico. One example of this is that she is making education more of a priority in the state and she is putting funds into it. She is, in one way, putting money forth to pre-SAT’s for every tenth grader. She has been on the fight to improve the affordability of health services which led to protect the health of mothers and babies; she accomplished the local health needs that includes the infant and child care, HIV testing, Substance abuse, diabetes treatment, dental etc. she even obtain federal dollars for local education such as afterschool care, early education and magnet

Her family struggled with medical bills, making her in favor of Obamacare. She grew up with pride in her country, and she wants to allow immigrants to have the chance to feel the same way about the United States.

Grew up on the Southside of Chicago, earned degrees from Princeton and Harvard Law School, married the man she loved, became the first black woman to be the First Lady of the United States, improved civil rights for people of color, and changed the face of feminism; these are some, but most certainly not all, of the accomplishments of the same woman, Michelle Obama. She is overall an inspiring woman to so many people that have had to struggle in life. She has done everything in her power to help those people lead a life of justice and equality that they otherwise, had been prevented from doing. Michelle Obama has achieved things most others with her upbringing could only dream of. She used her achievements to give those people a better chance. Michelle Obama has become an extremely important figure in America because of her inspiring advocacy for women, girls, and people of color, and she was doing this far before she became the first lady of the United States.
