Avriel Benjamin Kaplan was born on April 17, 1989, to Michael Kaplan and Shelly Kaplan in Visalia, California. Since Michael Kaplan was Jewish Avriel Benjamin Kaplan’s name was hard to pronounce, so they called him Avi for short. When Avi Kaplan was five years old his sister was born, Esther Kaplan. He went to school at Mt. Whitney High School. In school, Kaplan was bullied because he was part Jewish. As a freshman in high school, he was asked to join a chamber choir primarily made up of junior and senior students. When Kaplan was 15 he taught himself to play guitar, and later in life, he even performed at restaurants and other places. he performed at Visalia, California coffee houses. Ronald Gene Simmons Sr. was born July 15, 1940. He was originally from Chicago, Illinois, but moved to Little Rock, Arkansas with his mother and stepfather. His stepfather, William D. Griffen, was a civil engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Simmon’s biological father, William Simmons, died when he was only three years old. Ronald Gene Simmons Sr. eventually dropped out of school and joined the U.S. Navy. In 1963, he left the navy. Two years later, he joined the air force for twenty two years. Simmons retired in 1979 with the rank of master sergeant.

James Brown Miller, also known as “Killin’ Jim”, “Killer Miller” and “Deacon Jim”, was the son of Jack and Cynthia Miller. He was born on October, 25, 1866 in Van Buren, Arkansas, and was married to the cousin of another famous old west outlaw, John Wesley Hardin. And at the age of one, he moved with his parents to Franklin, Texas. However, just a few years after the move, both of Miller’s parents died, and he was sent to Evant to live with his grandparents. At the age of eight, Miller was again orphaned after both of his grandparents were found murdered in their home. Miller was arrested for the crime, even though he was only eight years old; in the end, he wasn’t charged.

On September 1, North Carolina man by the name of Matthew James Phelps has been charged with murder after stabbing his wife, Lauren Ashley-Nicole Phelps, to death. Phelps claims he was under the influence of cough and cold medicine and does not recall what time it was when he found his hands and dead wife covered in blood with a bloodied knife nearby. Calling 9-1-1 upon waking up to the gruesome scene, Phelps had sounded dazed and confused, according to the operator, freaking out when he realized what he had done. Taking Coricidin, a cold syrup used to suppress common colds, to fall asleep, Phelps had consumed “more medicine than [he] should have” which had caused a cough-syrup-induced psychosis. Shannon miller was known as the most decorated American gymnast. Over the time of her thirteen-year career Miller won forty-nine international medals. Miller competed in the Olympics two times, in 1992 and 1996, and won seven medals overall- two gold, two silver, and three bronze. Miller was also a member of the “Magnificent Seven” a women’s gymnastics team that was the first team to win gold in gymnastics for the United States in 1996. Miller is also the first American to win the World Championships for two years straight, in 1993 and 1994. On the 25th of January in 1759, Robert Burns was the first born of William Burnes and Agnes Broun in Alloway, Scotland. The eldest of seven children, Robert grew up to be the poet that is well known today for his many famous poems, including “A Red, Red Rose.” Burns’ work was influenced by occurrences in his life, with his poems often discussing love, “aspects of farm life, regional experience, traditional culture, class culture and distinctions, and religious practice” (The Poetry Foundation). Although Robert Burns was a poet of the 18th century, his work continues to stir up a wide range of emotions for the many people who read his poems.
