Marilynne K. Roach is a resident of Watertown, Massachusetts. She went on to graduate with a BFA from MCA (Massachusetts College of Art) but she uniquely gives credit to the public library systems for the rest of her education. This is very interesting to me because she says that libraries are what she owes to her education to. Because of all the books she reads she later turns out to be a great book writer herself. The library system really did impact Marilynne’s life drastically. But besides illustrating other writers work in history she also has written and illustrated many books of her own, this including “Six Women of Salem”.
By employing themes such as psychosexual fantasies, race, gender, and violence, artist Kara Walker reconstructs and explores the history and effects of American slavery on American culture. Although being called names like notorious, revolting, anti-progressive, and shameless, she continues to be a pioneer of bringing the unspeakable aspects of American slavery that are not commonly discussed and are left out of the history books to the foreground of public discussion.
I'm absolutely certain that Kykuit is the oldest best kept mansion out there. Constructed in 1913 Kykuit is a historic mansion where onced lived John D. Rockefeller and the family . Who were known for industrial, political, and banking family that owns one of the world's largest fortunes. Kykuit is a six story stone mansion that has been up for more than 100 years. The house has a underground art gallery collection from as far as the 20th century. That contains the artist Pablo Picasso, Henry Moore, and lots more. Also part of his collection is Picasso tapestries, and the cavernous Coach Barn. Trust me it's not an experience you want to miss.
Kara can’t count the number of times she has said “I think they thought they could say that to me because I’m black.” And she equally cannot count the number of times someone has said back to her “I don’t think that’s it.” Kara is fed up with the micro-aggressions and active denial of her feelings and experiences. So she plans to share them whether we like it or not.
Gale is an extraordinary teacher leader. She supports the principal by readily volunteering to take on leadership roles. Currently, she is on the School Leadership Team and diligently spends hours writing and gathering data for our School Improvement Plan. Together with the administration, Gale helped to implement our school’s first Leveled Reader Book Room. She spent endless hours questioning teachers to find out what variety of fiction and nonfiction books would interest their children. Gale wanted to make certain that the children had books that would encourage them to become lifetime readers. Thousands of books were purchased,

Tamora Pierce is a young adult fantasy fiction author who is quite well known for the young, strong and rebellious heroines in all of her novels. She was born December 13th, 1954 in Fayette Country, Pennsylvania. During her childhood, her family moved a great deal and books became her solace. Her uncle gave her a set of books including several from A.A Milne, who wrote all of the “Winnie the Pooh” books, and Dr. Seuss’ “Cat in the Hat.” What really got her into writing was when one day, her father told her she should start writing down her stories instead of just telling them to herself out loud, while also giving her some of her first book ideas. After that it all writing and reading every genre for Pierce, until she got introduced to J.R.R Tolkein in the sixth grade which was her window into fantasy novel, then eventually science fiction. She began writing stories mimicking all her favourite authors writing styles, something she encourages every young writer to do now. Later on in life as she reflected on the writing she did as a child she said: “I tried to write the kind of thing I was reading, with one difference: the books I loved were missing teenaged girl warriors.
Kathryn Howard was the daughter of Lord Edmund Howard, a younger brother of Thomas Howard, Duke of Norfolk. She was also first cousin to Anne Boleyn. Kathryn came to court at about the age of 19 as a lady in waiting to Anne of Cleves and there was no doubt that the spirited young girl caught Henry’s attention. Sixteen days after he was free of Anne, Henry took his fifth wife, Kathryn Howard, on July 28, 1540. Henry was 49 and his bride was no older than 19. King Henry lavished gifts on Kathryn and called her his ‘rose without thorn’ and the ‘very jewel of womanhood’. Less than a year into Kathryn marriage the rumors of her infidelity began. In a way, one couldn’t blame her for seeking the company of handsome young men closer to her age. But for that to happen even only in courtly flirtations, was dangerous for a Queen, especially one who came from a powerful family with a lot of enemies. By November 1541, there was enough evidence against the Queen that Archbishop Cranmer informed the King of Kathryn’s misconduct. At first Henry did not believe the accusations, but he agreed to allow further investigations into the matter. There was enough evidence and
Kristaps Porzingis had the highest free throw % for a rookie in 2015-2016 season. He has so much talent that he has not been able to show yet. He doesn’t play on the best team and doesn’t get a whole lot of opportunities to shoot the ball. He is deadly underneath the hoop and behind the 3 point line. Kristaps is one of the best picks the new york knicks have ever made and he is slowly working at breaking records.
I’ve always had a passion and interest in reading and writing. Ever since I can remember, I’ve curled up, blankets and fluffy pillows protecting me from negative forces with an engaging novel. My diaries, while frequently half written, were attempted multiple times and I signed up for multiple pen pals. Journey’s through reading and written have ended with me running my own online magazine, Girl Gun Magazine.
Johnson says that her greatest accomplishment in life is staying alive. On November 24, 2015, Katherine G. Johnson was one of 17 Americans to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom (Keating and McNeice). Johnson was born on August 26, 1918, and growing up wasn’t easy for her nor her family and friends. She had to live through the struggles of segregation. She had never lived without segregation, so it was something that was “normal” for her, but it was still difficult to go through. Despite being hired at NASA, she and the other African-American females faced struggles as they were separated from everyone else. However, Johnson’s her work has proven influential and significant. With Johnson’s extreme intelligence and influencing spirit,
