Kate Spade, founded by Kate Spade and Andy Spade on January 1993, is an American fashion design corporation for clothing, handbags, jewelry, and other accessories. Currently, the organization had been in a competition with Coach Inc. and Michael Kors since its establishment. However, Kate Spade demonstrated the key elements of critical thinking necessary to turn risk into opportunities, which ultimately resulted in organizational success in the fashion industry.
[ I ] Prior to its establishment, from 1986 to 1991, Kate Spade was formerly known as Katherine Noel Brosnahan before her marriage with Andy Spade, and during this time while working at Mademoiselle Magazine, she noticed that women’s fashion accessories lacked practicality and style. This conclusion led her to the idea to develop handbags that were fashionable, but

In 2006, they and their partners sold their remaining 44 percent to Neiman Marcus, an American luxury department store. This was essential due to the fact that with this action, Kate Spade products earned its brand name to be associated to high-ranking values. Later during this same year, Trudy Sullivan, president of Liz Claireborne Inc., acquired that share of Kate Spade from Neiman Marcus. Consequently, a new strategic plan was implemented which served the purpose to expand Kate Spade with approximately 200 boutique shops both domestically and internationally. This trend is observed to be a strategic alliance, because multiple organizations, in this case Neiman-Marcus and Claireborne Inc., co-operated into a partnership in sense of the goal of pursuing an area of mutual interest. All three companies are related to fashion design, so the conclusion is that the entrepreneurs of Kate Spade had the intention to achieve business success through co-operation with the right strategic

The industry we have chosen is the department store-retail industry. Within this industry, we have chosen the department stores of JCPenney and Macy’s. We find this industry, as well as these two companies, interesting from a strategic perspective. JCPenney has recently undergone a massive strategic restructuring in regards to its pricing, brand offerings, and store layout, pushing it away from the typical department store strategy of discounts and coupons. Its new strategy has become much closer to Wal-Mart’s strategy of every day low prices. Macy’s, on the other hand, has restructured with a push from the economic
Tyra Banks was born on December 4, 1973, in Inglewood, California. She graduated from high school in 1991 and planned to go to Loyola Marymount University and study film. Unfortunately, before she even starts her classes, she discovered by a French modeling scout. Since an early age, she used to dress up in her mom clothes and pretended to be a model. And spend most of her time watching TV shows which are about fashion and styles. This opportunity opened doors to the success she owns. Now a day, If the name of fashion models mentioned, the first person that reaches to most of our minds is Tyra Banks. She is known for being a hugely rewarding model. While fashion holds the biggest part of her success, she continues to grow herself beyond that. Being an African American and being able to break the race barriers in the fashion industry, which was dominated by only whites makes her become an inspiration for lots of African American females.
Pretty in Pink is essentially a love story about a girl from the wrong side of the tracks, the rich high school hunk who has his eye on her, and the peer pressure that threatens their budding romance. Molly Ringwald plays the character of Andie Walsh, an unpopular poor girl living in the shabbier side of town. Andrew McCarthy portrays the role of Blane McDonnagh, a wealthy heartthrob who asks her out to the prom. As their romance evolves, both characters struggle with increasing pressure from their peers whom are unsupportive of the relationship mostly because of the difference in social class. This, however, doesn't necessarily hold true for two of the characters whose objections appear to derive from other

One of my favorite designers is Kate Spade. Kate Spade was born on December 24, 1962 in Kansas City, Missouri. Spade graduated from Arizona State University in 1986 and then went on to New York City. When she was in New York, she worked for a magazine called Mademoiselle. After five years of working for this magazine, she earned the title of senior fashion editor and head of accessories. Shortly after receiving this title, she left the company to create her own line. In 1993, Kate launched her own line of handbags that turned out to be very successful. After she met her husband, Andy Spade, they went into business together and their business together was even more of a success. The company grew from just handbags to a wide variety of items

For decades, J. Crew has been a staple of middle-class America’s wardrobe. The company targets upper-middle class customers, selling Ralph Lauren-like designs at a lower price point. However, in recent years, the company, in addition to numerous other middle-tier American retailers, has struggled to find it’s niche in an industry often focused on the extremes. J. Crew’s executive and marketing teams have implemented new strategies to regain market share.
Gucci was founded in 1921 by Guccio Gucci. In 1938, Gucci expanded and a boutique was opened in Rome. Guccio was responsible for designing many of the company's products. In 1947, Gucci introduced the Bamboo handle handbag, which is still a company mainstay. During the 1950s, Gucci also developed the trademark striped webbing, which was derived from the saddle girth, and the suede moccasin with a metal horsebit. The Gucci group really said it all, Tom Ford, creative director and Domenico de sole, president and CEO, stood side by side facing the camera with eyes of steel. These two men had, in the first six months of 1999, been the centerpiece of one of most higly contested hostile takeover battles ever seen on the Europian
Coco Chanel, born Gabrielle Bonhuer Chanel, on August 19, 1883 in Saumur, France was an amazing woman who redefined fashion as we know it today. She was a clothing designer who revolutionized the fashion industry with her suits, little black dresses, and avant garde flare. Because of this quickly in her young life she became well know, and rose to be the fashion icon that she is today. From the timeless designs that are still popular to this day, and the sophisticated outfits that can be paired with great accessories Chanel has done it all. When it comes down to it though it was Coco Chanel’s philosophy that “luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it’s not luxury” that lead to her success. (“Coco Chanel”)
Thirty-four years ago in the Hartsfield Atlanta Airport, Patricia Miller and Barbara Bradley noticed that the majority of people had the same simple and boring luggage design. These two friends saw the opportunity to pursue a new market that offers colorful and patterned baggage designs, and that is how Vera Bradley began. Vera Bradley started producing colorful and unique pattered designs for luggage, bags, sports bags and handbags; and after the success of the first product line and their economic growth, they
Her transformation of Burberry had become a text book example of how to transform a business that other luxury brands are sometimes said to be “doing a Burberry” (Financial Times 2004). In 2005 Angela Ahrendts, replaced Bravo as Chief Executive who made changes to Burberry product line by making checks more stable and by focusing more on higher-margin products like handbags and perfumes (Friedman 2011).
