Imagine a country that needed help, and you had the chance to help people, help kids and families in a very poor country that had barely anything. Imagine being able to change someone's life for the better! well katie davis did. In my eyes katie davis is a hero. She lives unselfish, left behind her whole life just to help others and she started a nonprofit organization.
Katie davis lives an unselfish life because she left her whole life to benefit others. She also saved a small child in a burning hut. Another Thing she does is adopt 13 girls! And invites them into her own home.( https://amazima.org/about-us/katie's-story )
She has also left her whole entire life in order to help others. For example She left behind her mother and father She
Like her I find great joy in helping other in need. After reading how she fought to provide help for the mistreated laborers I was moved by her humanitarianism.
Hannah Duston was a big example of Heroism. Hannah was born in 1657. Hannah and her husband Thomas Duston from Massachusetts were attacked by Indians in there town Haverhill. As they were attacked Hannah's husband fled to save there 7 kids and hannah didn't leave because she was in bed rest from just giving birth. Hannah and her nurse got captured by Natives while the newborn got its head bashed against a tree and house got burnt to the ground. Hannah and her nurse both turned into slaves and experienced lots of torture and harsh living inviroments. The Indians started moving and were beyond Penacook where they had some really brutal things done to them. This is when Hannah descided it was time to escape and she had help from her nurse and
Another example of how altruism can be viewed in today’s society can be seen in the works of Mother Teresa and her plethora of altruistic acts throughout the globe. Although her focus was in India where she persued her novitiate (training), her organization has opened over 500 centers around the world helping the dying and the destitute (Moore 2002, pg. x). She took in the “untouchables” of society and gave them care and made sure that they were comfortable. Mother Teresa is often used as the benchmark when determining whether a selfless act is truly altruistic.
Stephanie gave her life in service to our nation. She volunteered to serve her country through a very turbulent time in American history. In spite of the known risks. Stephanie was an elite Soldier, her peers as well as her superiors trusted her. The battalion knew her as a motivator, a sister, and a loyal Soldier on a day to day basis.
Freeburg High School senior Kayla Gerber hopes to leave a legacy on the Freeburg bowling program. She hopes to be remembered for how she never gives up, her determination at school and in bowling, and as someone always willing to help others.
My mom is a perfect example of this because she is one of the most unselfish people that I know. She is constantly putting others first, especially her family. She makes sure we have food on the table, clothes on our back, roof over our head, and a good source of education. She's always trying to make sure that we're at our happiest. While I was growing up, she made sure to involve herself in some of my activities. She used to help with IBL basketball and would help teach younger girls how to play. She also served for our youth group and has helped shaped me and the rest of my friends into the strong Christian woman we are today. Something she has done more recently has been a project called RAK'd. RAK'd stands for random acts of kindness. She'd take time out of her day to put together a little goodie bag and give it to someone who she thought needed it or deserved it. The best part about it was she did everything anonymously. Well, I guess it isn't anonymous anymore because I just told you, but it's the thought that
Can women be important heroes of the society? Kathryn Sullivan proves that they can be by portraying some heroic traits throughout her vocation as an astronaut and in other science related fields such as being the president of the Center of Science and Industry (COSI) in Columbus, Ohio. The traits that portray her as an epic hero are her having ideals of a nation, being courageous and being larger than life.
All over the world, many different people worship many different humanitarians who have effected life today. Many people see the different sides of a story, but eventually see the hero’s side of the story, which might not be the best there is. With life as it is today, a people will have to truly fit into someone else’s shoes in order to understand their life story. Although, even the best stories are judged by the appearance of it’s owner. Many humanitarians are looked to as world heroes, perhaps the ones who might have made a huge impact are Irena Sendler, Mahatmas Gandhi, and Mother Teresa.
Maggie Kathryn Lasley changed my life. She did not fly around and save lives like heroes are supposed too. She simply lived life in the most helpful, caring, and genuine way she knew. I hope and pray everyone has a hero in some way, because that strives us to be better people. Even when Maggie was fighting cancer she still was the same amazing person I always knew. Everyday I still strive to be like her in anyway
What is the definition of a hero? When you hear the word “hero” you may think of Superman or Captain America. I believe that this is incorrect thinking. Heroes don’t need to be big and muscular and famous. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the word “hero” as “a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities”. One figure in my life that I believe meet those qualifications is Mrs. Wendy Hornik. She has helped me on my way to becoming what I’ve always wanted to be since I could read, a writer. I would not be where I am today if it weren’t for her guidance and support. Mrs. Hornik has also given me remarkable advice. She once told me when I was faced with a difficult writing assignment for an advanced literature course to
My name is Hailey Lynn Jones. My favorite sports are volleyball, softball and dance. I’ve been playing volleyball for one year now and i love it! Its probably my favorite sport. Ive been playing softball since fourth grade and its really fun to play. I usually play first or second base. Its sad to know how our nation does not know how important and brave some people were in our world. There was one person in particular that caught my eye and this was Susan B. Anthony. If you don’t know who she is then you don’t know how women got their rights to vote. She is a brave, strong, helpful, kind and courageous women that changed our world. If it wasn’t for her who knows how our world could have ended up.
That is why I picked Rosa Parks for my hero. I do look up to her as a hero, she showed that she cares for others and not just herself. She also showed that if she believes in something then she justs goes after what she
Heroes are not always people who lead marches or do things for their country. For example policemen, firefighters, nurses, lifeguards etc. are heroes everyday because they take the time to save lives. When they’re going through a challenge or trying to overcome a conflict they always have courage. These people risk their own life to save someone else’s. To be more specific Dr. Ginger Holt from Dallas had saved a little boy’s leg. She was confident and determined to finding out what went wrong in the boy’s leg and went through many procedures looking at the tests.
Heroes have many goals and many challenges, but whether they are successful or not is a whole different story. Always trying their best to achieve their certain goal and risking to help others is what heroes live for. For example, during the attacks of 9/11, boat drivers such as were rescuing people from the island of Manhattan in New York. There were thousands upon thousands of people, but with enough support, the boat drivers were able to rescue everybody. Vincent Ardolino, one of the boat drivers during the 9/11 boatlift, said in the documentary “Boatlift” that he tells his children to “never go through life saying you should have. If you want to do something, do it.” This mindset is what all heroes should adopt for the future. These people may not have the most difficult job in the world, but they carry out small challenges with a lot of passion. Likewise, were the heroes during Hurricane Harvey and Irma, two very devastating Hurricanes that have costed the USA many lives. Many people from outside of the area have done countless things to help like rescue people with their boats, donate money, and help rebuild. Many of these heroes have risked their lives and struggled on for the greater good.
