The coast holds the second largest city in Kenya, Mombasa. The city is identified by the Mombasa Tusks built in 1952 to commemorate the visit of Queen Elizabeth. Mombasa holds the coastal administration and it is separated from the mainland by two creeks; The Tudor on the west and Kilindani Harbor on the south. If you have an aerial view of the island it’s a beautiful scene and the separation is so distinct. The island is connected to the mainland by the Nyali bridge to the North, the South by Likoni Ferry and to west by the Makupa Causeway. Taking the Likoni ferry is one short distance but full of life both under the ferry and around the ferry. You get to see the ocean and feel the hot humid breeze as you cross to the mainland.
