Each love story is beautiful, and everyone’s is different. Keep Me in Mind by Jaime Reed is relating to a girl, Ellia, who recently had head trauma, now she has forgot the last two years of her life. Which includes her boyfriend Liam and all of his relatives and all of his family conflicts with her family. Before and after the head incident, both families believes that they should not date or even hangout, but they still find their ways. Two possible themes are love never forgets and just one person could change your life. “True love stories never have endings.” One major theme of the novel is love never gets left behind. One example of the theme is when “ Liam had a nice smile, bright and playful. And wow, he wasn’t kidding about us …show more content…

Cody has a different kind of amnesia where he forgets after every hour. This text conversation was a few days after he asked to get Ellia’s best friend’s,Stacey, number, and now he still has feelings for her. Like in my past claim, this shows that love truly never forgets. This is important because some people think that people with amnesia just forget about their crushes or true loves. If love always forgets, then no one would find true love. Whether it is good or bad, a person could change your life. One example of the theme, just one person could change your life, is when Liam and Ellia snuck out of the house in the morning and had a race, and Liam decided to let Ellia have a head start. Little does he know that Ellia would be rushed to the hospital, and soon have two years of her memory lost. This means that this is a big change for both Ellia and Liam. When she wakes up she won’t even know who he is. If no one could help or impact your life, then why was Liam was one of the people who caused this accident. This shows that Liam changed Ellia’s life for the worse.Another example is, “But I’d be a liar if I said I wasn’t happy to see her” (pg. 322) This shows how Ellia has impacted Liam’s life for the better, therefore, just one person could change your life. She showed him what a real relationship is and that all families aren't
Life isn’t fair. This common phrase rings true for the characters in A Separate Peace, a novel from 1959. The story takes place in the time of World War Two. Gene and Finny are the best of friends, but the entire book revolves around an accident where Gene causes Finny, or Phineas, to fall off a tree and shatter his leg, changing his life forever. Finny denies anything he finds negative or harmful, including the war, his injury, and Gene’s part in the accident, choosing to remain young and ignorant of since he knows he’ll be happier that way. However, Finny does eventually recognizes the facts of his life. John Knowles uses characterization to shed light on the dangers of naivete through the character Finny. Innocence causes Phineas to become ignorant of what’s happening all around him, which makes it dangerous. This becomes a problem because nobody can run away from the truth forever, and whenever all the facts of war and the accident catch up with him they will hit hard.
Power and control plays a big role in the lives many. When power is used as a form of control, it leads to depression and misery in the relationship. This is proven through the themes and symbolism used in the stories Lesson before Dying, The fun they had, The strangers that came to town, and Dolls house through the median of three major unsuccessful relationship: racial tension between the African Americans and the caucasians in the novel Lesson before Dying, Doll’s House demonstrates a controlling relationship can be detrimental for both individuals and The Stranger That Came To Town along with The Fun They Had show that when an individual is suppressed by majority they become despondent.
In the short story “Dr. Heidegger’s Experiment” by Nathaniel Hawthorne, there is a great deal of literary elements used to enhance the story. For example, imagery is used to draw the reader 's attention further into the story by having them see it happening in their head and allegory is used to pull the reader away from the story by referencing things that happened somewhere else. While these two literary elements are both used to magnify different parts of the story, as well as counterbalance each other, the literary device that this essay will be focused on is symbolism. While it appears in many parts of the story one of the most obvious uses of
In the book Everything I Never Told You, there are many different elements and techniques used within the book. The technique that I want to go into more depth on is the use of symbolism. I specifically want to focus on the symbolism in regards to Lydia, Hannah, and Nath’s love of astronauts and space.
In past years, as well as, in the twenty-first century, African Americans are being oppressed and judged based on the color of their skin. In, A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest J. Gaines, this is the primary conflict that plagues Jefferson’s as well as Grant’s everyday life. By pleading guilty to a murder that he did not commit, Jefferson has to choose to die just as he is, a hog in the white’s eyes, or die a man. On the other hand, Grant, who is his teacher, is faced with being looked down upon by his community all because of his race and status. He is graced with the challenge of turning Jefferson into a man before his execution date. It is only a matter of time before they both realize that they cannot change the past and they have
Throughout the context of “Bless Me Ultima,” it is evident that there are many motifs and examples of dichotomy. I believe that Anaya uses the previously mentioned elements of literature in order to provoke his readers’ thinking and help embody a struggle of understanding the world we live in. Motifs in this novel include: family, dreams, religion, education, and the list continues. For examples of dichotomy, the idea of good versus evil is the most vivid in this novel.
Tim learned and never forgot about his first love and friend, Linda. He was very young and didn’t know what love is, but he felt like it was real and meaningful to him. For instance, in this quote Tom remember Linda and the impact she had on him. “A nine-year-old girl, just a kid, and yet there was something ageless in her eyes-not a child, not an adult-just a bright ongoing evenness, that same pinprick of absolute lasting light that I see today in my own eyes as Timmy smiles nd Tim from the graying photographs of that time”(pg.225). From just a small instance in his life, Tim taught the readers that the littlest things can bring you love and joy.
This essay originally titled Studying Literature in Grade 12, has an abundance of information regarding and convincing the readers that the grade twelve English course should be composed of Canadian literature. The grammar in this essay however, was weak. The subject did not agree to their pronouns, making many sentences awkward. Overall, improvements could have been made. Some of these include MLA format, the title, introduction paragraph, grammar, punctuation and the citation format.
In the book, Brave New World, the author, Aldous Huxley, creates and alternated world in the 1930’s to show us how political and society were during that year. There was a lot of cruel, violence, segregations compare to the world in BNW. He also uses many literary devices to tell use what his society looks like during the 1930’s. Some of those devices are simile, details, metaphor...

Chinua Achebe was a Nigerian novelist, poet, professor and critic. He is mainly known for his trilogy that investigates, using fiction, the history of Nigeria. The trilogy begins with Things Fall Apart, followed by No Longer at Ease and ended with Arrow of God. Furthermore, in this critically analytical essay, through a feminist perspective, a chapter of his second novel, No Longer at Ease, published in 1960, will be discussed. The setting of the novel is Lagos, Nigeria and Umuofia, Nigeria during the 1950s, before Nigeria attained independence from Great Britain. The novel, No Longer at Ease begins with Obi Okonkwo on trial, charged for accepting a bribe. However, using flashback, the author takes us back to the point before Obi’s departure
Roy Conli once said “When you're telling a story, the best stories, every character has an arc. Every one. And that arc is usually about finding yourself, or about at least finding something about yourself that you didn't know.” This is a prevalent theme in many examples of Young Adult Literature (YAL or YA). Three books that demonstrate the critical transformation between childhood and adulthood by exploring difficult social issues, finding personal identity, and letting go are a Monster Calls by Patrick Ness, The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton, and Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson.
