Kenya is one of the fifty-four countries in Africa being located in Central Africa, near Uganda, Tanzania, Somalia, and Ethiopia. In 1963 Jomo Kenyatta drove Kenya to its autonomy until his demise in 1978, when Vice President Daniel Moi took control in a constitutional succession. The nation was a one-party state from 1969 until 1982, Kenya African National Union (KANU) made itself the sole lawful organization in Kenya. However, the ethnically resistance failed to remove KANU from control during election in 1992 and 1997, which were defaced by viciousness and extortion yet were seen as having, for the most part, mirrored the will of the Kenyan individuals. More than 40 percent of Kenyans are under the age of 15 because of sustained high fertility rate, early marriage and childbearing, and an unmet need for family planning. These females do not seek freedom as they are tied down to cultural rules and family obligation. However, in recent years women are now venturing out looking for opportunity which as lead women to taking jobs such as vendors, clerks and more recently with female politicians. With man feeling threatened because of the lack of available work, rage has boiled to the point of death threats and abuse directed to woman. Woman acquire jobs is considered a major step for the woman in Kenya as they are slowing following in the footsteps of the United States as it was not till the 1960s american women were finally allowed into the workforce. William Kamkwamba, who was born in a place where hunger and drought were some of their biggest problems, was able to overcome these struggles and create an amazing life for himself and his family. William was a very innovative, intelligent and inspirational child growing up. He never let these issues get in his way or distract him from reaching his goals. He was always interested in science and he was devastated when he had to drop-out of school because of the famine in the area where he lived. Yet, even without going to school William continued to teach himself and create new inventions that ended up changing his life for the better.

More than 300,00 children and young adults are fighting in Africa today. Many civil wars and conflicts such as the South Sudanese conflict continue to fight with child soldiers (Gettleman). The South Sudanese conflict is brutal, destructive, and more than the normal American can imagine. The fight for South Sudan to become an independent country called for child soldiers. On June 9th, 2011, South Sudan declared its independence from Sudan, and that is when the brutal fighting began. South Sudan will not be able to resolve the conflict in their own, so they need additional help from other countries. Many different tribal communities inhabited Kenya, during its pre-colonial period. Today there are about 42 different tribes in Kenya who are all different from each other ("Safari in Africa”). The Agikuyu and the Miji Kenda were farmers, the Maasai and the Samburu lived off of livestock, and the majority like the Luo and the Abagusii practiced a mixture of crop cultivation and pastoral work. Subsistence production was the norm and manual labor came from the family. Classes were mostly non-existent and poverty was not much of an issue either as reciprocity was largely practiced. Relations between other tribal communities were for the most part were good as they traded, married with each other, and had limited and sporadic conflicts

It was amazing. I learned all about the history of Swahili. Beginning in the 13th century, Swahili and the surrounding areas were ruled by the Shirazi dynasty until 1498 CE. During this time, the people of Portugal began their conquest of the area. During my arrival I had difficulty with the language. I’ve found the whole Swahili coast has its own language made of a combination of the Bantu descendants and Arabic trader’s native languages. When I was there trade was bustling. So many cultures mixed because there were merchants from China, India, Arabia, and Persia.
