The scenes that show Katniss finally understanding the victors rage and the one where she learns about the riots in the districts from her prep team reinforce the theme Collins is trying to convey to the readers. The theme that ruling in fear leads to a surge of insurgents is quite important for the readers to understand because it can help them make better decisions in the future by not leading with fear. To conclude, after reading this, readers should finally know what the Hunger Games Catching Fire is actually
In the novel, The Hunger Games written by Suzanne Collins is a dystopian young adult book that is based in Panem that is divided into twelve districts. In the beginning, Katniss is living the hard life of her district. She goes to school and hunts so that her family has food. She has a younger sister named Prim and a mother, however it is time for the reaping which is when the Capitol picks names out of a bucket for one boy and one girl from each of the 12 districts to participate in the Hunger Games, a fight to the death tournament where the winner gets fame and fortune. Prim gets chosen to participate in the games, but Katniss volunteers to take her place(22). A boy from their district named Peeta also gets chosen and Katniss realizes that he had given her bread when she didn’t have food for her family. They go to the Capitol and meet their mentor, Haymitch(56), who helps them train, then they go into the arena and battle. Peeta joins up with some Careers, children that trained for the Hunger Games all their lives, and tries to win but then he betrays them. The Gamemakers make a rule change and say that two tributes from the same district can win together so Katniss finds Peeta and helps him because he has been injured. After they are the only two people left the Gamemakers change the rule back to force Katniss and Peeta to fight each other, rather than fight, Katniss takes some poisonous berries, called Nightlock, she found in the arena and gives half of
During the game Katniss have to pretend that she loves Peeta, but inside she knows that her real love was Gale and that he was waiting for her. It was hard for all of them because Gale was outside seeing how Peeta kiss his girlfriend, and for Peeta because he knows that Katniss was in love with another boy and not of him, and to Katniss because maybe she was with Gale, but passing time with Peeta and look how he tries to saved her life make her get confused about her feelings so she focused in what is good for her, and not of what she real want.
While competing in the Hunger Games, Katniss is unsure if Peeta is on her side or not because he betrays her and joins the Careers; plotting to team up and kill the weak. This make Katniss extremely confused, causing her to be uncertain of whether or not she will be able to kill Peeta since he is her supposed star-crossed lover. She also debates with herself because she cannot decide if she is in love with Gale or Peeta. During the Hunger Games, Katniss becomes friends with Rue through the mocking jay pin. Rue is killed, but Katniss remembers her by using the wisdom that she learned from Rue.

The “Hunger Games” trilogy is a story of war, depression, love and survival. It is written in such a way that you connect with the characters; for example, the infamous love triangle of Katniss, Peeta and Gale. By the end, everyone was chanting “Team Peeta” or “Team Gale” as to who Katniss will finally be with. Aside from that, however, the people of the country of Panem were under the control of the Capitol and needed a way to become free from its grasp and that of President Snow. But before the science behind this story is revealed, one must be brought up to speed on how the story all began.
To start, Katniss betrays the Capitols orders and leads the rebellion of districts to fight and start a revolution. This is betraying President Snow and his orders. “Peeta, this is your home. None of your family has been heard of since the bombing. Twelve is gone. And you’re calling for a cease-fire? I look across the emptiness. There’s no one left to hear you.” (Mockingjay 129) This shows that the Capitol is horrible and Katniss is calling them out on it. They brainwashed Peeta and she is trying to explain to him and all of the districts why they need to rebel. Katniss and the rest of the rebellion are trying to betray the Capitol. They want to survive and live a free life. They are doing this through rebellion. As explained previously, Catching Fire shows that betrayal is a common part of survival, and so does Mockingjay. AT the end of the story, “I am Katniss Everdeen… I brought down the Capitol….President snow has been tried and found guilty, sentenced to execution.” (Mockingjay 353) This shows that the rebellion succeeded in taking down the Capitol and betraying them. This let all of the citizens of Panem survive. They betrayed the Capitol and can live on their own now. Both Catching Fire and Mockingjay taught the reader that betrayal is a common part of survival but in different
The Hunger Games Catching Fire, by Suzanne Collins has very deep characterization. Katniss Everdeen, the protagonist, was the winner of the previous Hunger Games. She is picked for the Quarter Quell, which picks winners of past Hunger Games to fight each other again in a new arena. Her and Peeta are chosen again. Katniss is a character who cares about others but will do whatever it takes to make sure the ones she cares about are safe. This is shown on page 189 when she says "But I have a mission. No, it's more than a mission. It's my dying wish. Keep Peeta alive." In this quote, Katniss shows how much she cares about Peeta by putting the safety of his front of her own. Peeta is tough selfless person who cares about Katniss and her well being.
Peeta Mellark is viewed as the ‘hopeless romantic in the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins because he is viewed as a sweet and kind person who has been in love with Katniss ever since they were children. The text states, “Peeta sighs. “Well, there is this one girl. I’ve had a crush on her ever since I can remember,” (Collins 157). The text also states, “”I remember everything about you,” (367). These quotes both show Peeta falling for Katniss ever since he saw her, and cannot stop thinking about her. Peeta also shows he is willing to do anything to help Katniss get home to her family. The text
In the dystopian society that is Panem, Katniss and other tributes exert as much power as they possibly can. The tributes that are against the hunger games exert power to try and turn people away from The Games, the main characters that try to do this are Katniss and Peeta. Some ways that they try to exert power against The Capitol are; Peeta telling Caesar he likes Katniss during his interview, Katniss taking care of rues dead body and the two of them in the end choosing that they would die together. The exertion of power by the tributes represents how even in a dystopia people can be made to feel sympathetic of others and that when courage and faith is used in the right way, people can make a difference to how things are.
During the first games, Katniss's character slowly evolves into The Hunger Games trilogy. Katniss is very humble and focused. She is all about protecting her family. When she left for the capitol, Katniss goes to say her goodbyes to everyone. Furthermore, Prim makes her promise that she will try hard to win. Katniss tells her mother to watch over Prim despite her mother being very ill and sick. Throughout The Hunger Games she stays focused and attentive. Her mind was only set on protecting her loved ones. Even when Katniss struggled with her individuality, her priorities remained the same, which was protecting her mother, sister and Prim.
Introduced in the book called ¨The Hunger Games¨ by Suzanne Collins are our two main characters named Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark who are told throughout the book to be developing a sort of ‘relationship’, I emphasize on the quotations because it seems mostly one-sided, throughout the book, Katniss is repeatedly told what to do around Peeta. How to hug, how to show affection, and how to in general to act around Peeta. Unfortunately, Peeta is unaware of her intentions and Katniss herself isn't really necessarily aware of. You might be wondering what this means, well, it means that technically although this goes on for long enough that she even goes to the point of deceiving herself. Although this is quite an interesting story, why
Throughout the short time they are in the Capitol, Katniss and Peeta established a bond that is broken when they are in the Games and she sees he teamed up with the Careers, who are the tributes from Districts 1,2 and 4 and also the most dangerous when it come to the Arena. Katniss relies on her sharp instincts, her hunting skills, and
