Introduction
1. Abu Solaiman Khalid Ibne Walid Al Makzumi shortly Khalid Bin Walid is one of the famous generals of all times. In the glorious history of Islam in particular, he holds a predominant position. Born in the year 583 AD in the Banu Makhzum branch of the Quraish, Khalid grew amidst marked affluence. His gifted character, notable family background, early military training and the contemporary scenario made him look a leader in the making even in his early age.
2. He eventually became a leader, both in the ranks of Muslims and Quraish. Ironically, this great general of Islam passed 47 of his 60 years lifetime as a non-Muslim and accepted Islam only 3 years before the death of the holly Prophet. Upon his acceptance of Islam this

His success on this battle made him the great hero between the Arab and non-muslims. He fought another battle against the Muslims, which is battle of `Khandak'.
9. Acceptance of Islam. The acceptance of Islam by Khalid was considered as a rare incident and also a blessing by Allah on him. Before that his sword was against Islam. But his acceptance of Islam strengthened the Muslims by many times. In 6th Hizri Prophet Muhammad (SM) with his followers set out for Mecca to obey the "Umrah". The Kafirs thought that the Muslims were coming to conquer of Mecca. They sent Khalid with two hundred soldiers to observe the movement of the Muslims. The Muslims halted in a place named Hudaybiya. Prophet Mohammad (SM) could understand the intention of the Kafir's. He sent a message to the Kafirs that the Muslim has not come for fighting war. But Khalid and his troops were searching for an opportune moment to destroy Prophet (SM) and his followers in an unaware and unarmed condition. But Khalid could not cause any harm to the Muslims due to intelligence and peaceful accords of Prophet. Prophet (SM) proposed for a mutual agreement, which is famous as "Hudaybiya Agreement". During this agreement Khalid came in contact with the prophet Mohammad (SM). The spiritual and character qualities of prophet influenced him much; he was strongly attracted to Islam. But he was strongly opposed by the kafirs. They were also afraid of
In this time period there were two major sea trading routes, the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian Ocean, and a massive network of land trade called the Silk Roads (World History 272). Muslim merchants used Arabic and money credits called sakks in their deals (World History 272). These trade routes provided optimal environments for Islam to spread because the merchants had personal interactions with people where they could inform them of the religion and provide them an opportunity to convert. Muhammad spread his word directly on his journey from Mecca to Medina known as the Hijrah (World History 265). This was a turning point for the spread of Islam because Muhammad became a political leader as well as a religious leader (World History 269). This change allowed religion to inspire governing which was the starting point of the Muslim Empire controlling the region. The Abbasid family pushed out the Umayyads and murdered most of their members as they took control of the Muslim region, but one prince named Abd al-Rahman escaped and fled to Spain (World History 271). He set up a caliphate in Spain and pushed out the Berbers, a Muslim group from North Africa. The Berbers advanced North into Europe and continued to spread Islam farther from its place of origin (World History 271). This change of rule allowed for the Umayyads to
While these people looked for peace, Islam welcomed them with open arms telling of equality and harmony. This appealed to the people and thus led to more Islam believers by showing how peace and harmony was present in the ways of Islam.
hostility from Meccan tribes. After 8 years he had gained up to 10,000 followers who
Muhammad a prophet for our time is written by Karen Armstrong. This book is like a diary that tells the life of Muhammad and how he played a big role in the Islamic religion. Muhammad was born in the year 570 ce and died in 623 ce. Muhammad was a man who did not have much going for him, he couldn’t read and lived in a cave with his wife at the time. When Muhammad was reached down upon by Allah he did not know what was happening and why it was happening. “ he knew that some people expected the imminent arrival of an Arab prophet, but it never occurred to him that he would be the one entrusted with the mission.” (p.10). Muhammad was 40 years old when this happened and he lived in Mecca. Mecca at the time had many different civilizations and was a big trading center. Arabs at the time did not like this and kept moving from places to place to get something stable. Some of the Arabs even had settled in urban areas around Mecca. Society in Mecca was based on laws and traditions that even though Allah is the main god
The religion of Islam is based on the prophet Mohammad ibn-Abdullah born in Mecca around A.D.570 (Braswell, 11). “He served the Muslin community as a prophet, political and economic leader, and a commander –in –chief of his warriors” (Braswell, 19). In Islamic terms, Mohammad means, “the much praised one” and in Moslem it means “submission one”. It educates their followers that there is only one god and it is through their faith and conduct that they will go to a heaven or paradise after their death. Islam gives people principles and encourages unity (Crites, 2011). Mohammad's Islamic teachings manifested over the years. He would take trips into the
At the age of 20 in 1946 he was sentenced to prison for larceny and breaking and entering. During his time in prison he joined the Nation of Islam and after being released in 1952 he became one of its leaders. He was the
The Muslims were very brave people and took part in many different battles to try and outdo their opponents, so that they could overtake different lands. The Muslims proved to be fierce and would show absolutely no mercy to the people that denied to surrender their beliefs to those of the Muslims. After many battles had taken place the Muslims grew stronger, proving that their power was to strong to be taken down.
The Umayya remained a powerful clan as Islam spread under Muhammad and, after his death in 632, his two successors, or caliphs—successors of the Prophet. Still, the clan’s power had far from peaked. After the death of Umar, the second caliph, a member of the Umayya became his successor: Uthman ibn Affan (Kishlansky, Geary and O'Brien). Uthman, however, was quickly murdered because he privileged the Meccan elite over the early converts. Shaken by his death, the Umma charged the fourth caliph, Ali ibn Abi Talib, as being complacent with Uthman’s murder. Eventually Ali himself was murdered by the Umayyad’s supporters, giving rise to an Islamic state ruled by the Umayya, the Umayyad Caliphate, where the Islamic
His experience left him with the conviction that in all the world there is only one true god Allah, that ruled the universe. Before Islam, many Arabs that lived in Northern Arabia were converting to Christianity. The Arabs were Barbaric people, they raided other Arabic tribes for goods. Muhammed told his followers that a Muslim tribe can not raid another Muslim tribe. As a result, many tribes converted to Islam. The Muslim tribes started to raid the non-Muslim tribes. As a result, many members of the non-Muslim tribes started to convert to Islam. The Islamic empire began to expand in area and in the number of followers. Another way Islam spread was through merchants. Merchants would tell other merchants about Islam and Merchants would tell people about the new religion they heard about. Moreover, Islam has significantly influenced the middle east. Islamic scholars made great advances in mathematics and architecture. For example, the middle east contains many Mosques and building that show characteristics Islamic architecture influence such as Domes, arches, and mosaics. Characteristics Islamic architecture is also seen in Spanish architecture. Moreover, the majority of people that live in the middle east is
He became an Islam Minister and established a temple in Springfield Massachusetts amongst other places. Malcolm was now educated, well-spoken and handsome. He attracted thousands of African Americans to the group and became a very influential speaker for the Nations of Islam.
Dreading for his life he ran off to an urban area in Medina. Muhammad was able to construct the first Islamic temple and started to divide Islam from Christianity and Judaism. These visions formed the foundation of a poetic text known as the “Qur’an”, that holds the principles of Islam. Muhammad went into to many battles against his people, he commanded to turn most of the Arabian headland to the new religion and constructed a new empire. After Muhamad’s death the battle over control has separated Muslims till
He is influential because he showed that people could change. It doesn’t matter where they are from, whether they are from Canada, US or Afghanistan. With the whole Muslim situation in the world, it has put a stigma on that culture. This story proves that not all Muslims are bad people, and that they should be looked at in the same regard as a Canadian citizen, and that goes for all cultures and religions around the world. Omar is married and is going to school now. He has been able to rejoin society after thirteen years, and he was only fifteen when he was captured. Yes, some could say that he belongs in a jail cell, he did kill. But he apologized and has proven that he can rejoin society. That is why I think Omar Khadr is

As Muhammad got older, he became known as a very trust-worthy, noble and kind man. When Muhammad was twenty-five years old, he became a trading agent for a wealthy, noble lady by the name of Khadija. Khadija was so
His influence and words continue to deeply inspire muslims even though he has been dead for centuries. Muhammad is one of the most interesting religious figures of any religion. He is a mix of all the other important figures from other religions. Like the Bhudda, he began his life as a normal citizen and then became a spiritual figure. At least for me, this allows me to find his words and teachings more believable because he is completely human. He is like Jesus because he is a prophet of God, but he isn't described as half human, half God. This gives him the same importance and validity as a translator of the Holy Spirits word. Since Muhammad is completely human his interpretations can be more believable because there isn't room for confusion on how he was created. Not only was he a spiritual leader of Islam but, he was also a political leader of the Islamic state. I think his leadership background with his business and political background allows Muhammad to better preach the word of Allah.
