Knights of the Gospel
To be a knight means that you have been assigned by a king or any other political, or religious leader, in our case the most high king, our lord Jesus Christ, to do a service. Our king, Jesus Christ, has called us, the knights of the Kingdom, to, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:19).” This is our mission as Christians, no matter what denomination you are, you have been called by God to spread the gospel.
By being a Bishop Luers student you are taught to from the first time you enter the doors, what it means to be a follower of Christ. Whethers it’s Mrs. Isch reminding you, every friday, “no drugs, no alcohol or fornication,”
All of the Gospels have a special and important message within them. It is the Gospel of Luke that today’s Christians need the most though, due to the message that it holds within it. It seems as though todays Christians seem to have lost the understanding that G-d loves everyone and that Jesus came and died for everyone.
The stages of the development of the gospels consisted of 3 stages. 1st being Jesus Life (period), 2nd stage being period of oral tradition and the third being the period of the evangelists.
Mathews Gospel helps me understand what I need to do and overcome during Lent. As we continue through this Lenten season, we can grow in our faith and trust in God by following Jesus' example while he was in the desert. During Lent, we can grow closer to God by understanding Jesus' love and by doing a little extra to grow in love with God.
Knights lived under a strict code of chivalry. This meant that he had faith and a deep love of the Christian religion, even to the point of death. They also had strong loyalty towards their land of birth, and gave generously to all. They had a duty to protect women and the weak. Knights always fought for good over evil and never surrendered or
The Crusades were a series of “holy wars” called by the Pope with the promise of benefits for those who fought in them and directed against external and internal enemies of the Christian church (Abels). However, were the Crusades really “holy wars” or was it Western Europe's seize of cities for economic gain? In history, the Crusades were known as the most successful failure. The supposed purpose of the Crusades, which were often persuaded by papal policy, was to regain control over the city of Jerusalem or the ‘Holy Land” from the control of the Muslims. Another critical purpose of the Crusades was to heal the Great Schism in 1054.
Early Christianity had a lot to do with the transformation of Rome and posed a challenge to the Roman Empire. Christians were known as the enemy of Rome, primarily because they refused to worship the emperors as the embodiment of Rome’s Gods meaning they were denying his divinity and authority. The one whom the Christians worshiped had been declared a criminal, was tried and put to death the roman state.
The start of the first crusades started back in March 1095 when Alexius Comnenus asked
A knight, when thought of are commonly associated with Chivalry. Chivalry is it code that thing knight and Nobles must follow, although not all people during the Medieval Ages follow the code of chivalry. The code was for the upper class, not indigents such as the surf for the peasants. Those who followed the code of Chivalry we're expected to fight in defense of an honorable cause, which is why the code was used for the upper-class rather in the lower class who had no time to bother with such ideas. By using this code the upper class could make themselves more laudable by accomplishing feats that followed this code. Chivalry also help keep the nobles and knights from staying in a benighted state, as it helped better their treatment of women
Knights were noble men who fought on horseback and often lived in castles (Brooks 4). Becoming a knight was not easy, training and hard work from a young age was required. In order to even consider becoming one,
The four Gospels all tell the same story, but they differ in the small details and the way in which the story is told. The “Gospel Authors” spent much of their time with Jesus and I’m sure the events they witnessed were truly remarkable. These Apostles did have flashbulb memories, which are memories of exciting or shocking events that can be clearly remembered, but they also had much more going on. To remember the events that happened and record them for Scripture, the authors had to encode, store, and retrieve these memories. Encoding would be when the Apostles are first experiencing the event. Their brains are taking in information and processing them in unique ways. They then stored these memories in order to retrieve them later. Finally,
Overall it took some time for Christianity to become a part of the ancient world not everyone believed in Christianity. The messages Jesus preached influenced people to love each other. The Christian alternative to roman thought showed citizens how their lives were of such value to god which in a way is a gift to be appreciated no matter what. The commitment of early Christian's provided information on how a Jewish disfavor became fond of Christianity just by the presence of Jesus, then traveled through many cities to expand society's knowledge of Christianity as well as the importance. These three causes shaped Christianity into a superior religion. Knowing what we comprehend about Christianity I hope that every school can continue to teach
‘The early Christian church made no distinction between sin and suffering, and repentance and healing.” (p. 34) The Scripture equates sickness with unclean spirits and demonic activity. Early Christians understood the relationship between sin and sickness and acted accordingly (see James 5:14,15). Jesus taught the disciples the relationship between sin and sickness. In the early church repentance and healing went hand-in-hand. Unfortunately, in today’s church the first call of a sick Christian is to their doctor or hospital. We have turned to the secular world for a healing, which they cannot offer. Satan’s footprint is everywhere in the medical field. I am reminded of a Scripture, which says that man is always searching for knowledge but never
The sermon on the mount is relevant to my life today because it provides me with multiple life long reminders. When Jesus says "And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?" in verse 27, it is a really comforting reminder for someone who is more often than not, worrying about life.
Throughout my understanding of Christianity growing up, Jesus has become synonymous with salvation through the church. I had spent a considerable amount of time pondering the usefulness or limitations of the church, for if God is everywhere, why would we need to go to church to find him? This is why it's striking that the sayings of this gospel appear to be saying that it is by knowing yourself that you achieve knowledge of salvation. We are divine beings entrapped in an impoverished body, and this entrapment in the material world is portrayed in a variety of ways. Salvation, then, comes by acquiring the true knowledge that can bring liberation from the body, as if waking from a dream. According to the New Testament, Jesus proclaimed “And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
The spiritual/ theological message about “Christ the King” is that Jesus is the Son of God for a multitude of reasons. First, the statue sends the message that Jesus is the Son of God because of the massive size of the statue. The massive size (33 meters tall and weighs 440 tons) of the structure shows that Jesus has the almighty power just as the father does. Another reason that this massive construction sends the massage that Jesus is the Son of God because of the crown on the statue’s head. This crown represents that he is the prince to of king and father God. Lastly, the statue of Jesus sends the message that Jesus is the Son of God because of the effort put in. The effort that was put in by the people of the area wasn’t much (about $70),
