Kurt Cobain and Jim Morrison Despite being almost twenty years in between the time of their fame Kurt Cobain and Jim Morrison are more often than not compared to each other. They had fame, fortune and depression. Both were considered to be poets instead of just musicians. Cobain and Morrison has a lot going for them musically. Kurt was not only the lead of a phenomenal band but a guitarist, song writer and an icon to the masses. Morrison was a writer, film maker and icon as well. Not including all the talent they had going for them, the main thing they had in common was depression. It is true that it does not discriminate. With a lot of fame and fans comes a lot of pressure, too. Both artists agreed that their trying times started when they
Kurt Cobain; one of the most famous and influential musicians in the history of rock and roll - more specifically, Grunge. Being a member of Nirvana, the most prominent band in the history of the genre isn’t the only accomplishment of the late, great musician though as he also won many awards. Kurt Cobain was the singer and guitarist for Nirvana. He was born in Hoquiam (population 9,000) and after six months of life moved to Aberdeen (pop. 16,500), an old lumber town at the eastern-most point of Grays Harbor. The town is about four miles wide and three miles long. On the northern and eastern sides of town are steep hills where the richer families live in Victorian-style houses. At the foot of the

Kurt Cobain was the lead singer of the Seattle based grunge rock band Nirvana. As Nirvana's lead songwriter, guitarist, and singer, Cobain took the music industry by surprise and is considered the godfather of the grunge rock movement. Cobain and his band had a prevalent influence on young teenagers of the 1990s and were considered idols by numerous individuals. Nirvana took the popular music industry by storm when they were able to revamp the genre of grunge rock and cause a dramatic shift in music, away from the dominant genres of the 1980s. The success of Kurt Cobain was overshadowed by numerous of his psychological problems including drug addiction, his unstable marriage to music celebrity Courtney Love, and constant pressure from the
Many people do not realize what it means to be a musician, much less a famous musician. You need to be smart, talented and charasmatic. Dave grohl has achieved all three of these things. He has completed the goals of many young men, including myself. Dave has been in many successful bands and written and performed multiple hit songs. Dave Grohl Has many admirable attributes but considering my time constraints, I will only touch a few of them.
A third thing they have in common is their fans (Deadheads and Phans). The Grateful Dead and Phish have both established quite a following. These fans follow their favorite band around the country to see their shows(this phan has been to over 25 Phish shows). They also collect their favorite shows on cd-r or tape, since both bands have an open taping policy at their concerts. By doing this, Phish and the Dead opened up a new hobby; and other bands have gone along with open taping (e.g. Dave Matthews Band, Moe., Bela Fleck).
For many decades popular cultural icons, Michael Jackson and Prince dominated the music scene. Over the years there are always countless discussions about both of their careers. Although Michael and Prince bear some superficial similarities with their musical influences on the world, the differences between their careers and upbringings are clear.
Jimi hendrix was born November 27,1942 in seattle, WA. He had difficult childhood, sometimes living in the care of relatives and even acquaintances at times. When talking about Montaigne’s ideology and the rock genre, the two names that come to mind are that of Kurt Cobain (lead singer of Nirvana) and Jim Morrison (lead singer of the Doors). Like Wallace and Shukar, Morrison and Cobain also had short-lived lives, each of the two men passing away at the age of 27 (“Jim Morrison”). However, similar to Wallace and Shukar, neither of the two rock legends allowed their short time on this Earth to affect the great impact that they had made. Although Morrison put out more records than that of Cobain (Morrison: 9, Cobain: 3) both man were able to achieve platinum status on numerous albums, including one diamond status album by Cobain(“Kurt Cobain”). In addition to having, platinum and diamond status albums both men have appeared on numerous lists proclaiming each of the two as some of the greatest musicians to live. During each of the two men’s short careers each of the two were able to accomplish so much and achieve many awards such as for Cobain: America’s music awards favorite hard rock band, BRIT Awards best international group and numerous others (“Kurt Cobain”). In addition, for Morrison: Grammy lifetime achievement award, Grammy hall of Fame award, and numerous others (“Jim Morrison”). Although the two rock legends unfortunately had to leave this Earth so soon their music continues to live on and their impact on society
One of my favourite bands of all time is Nirvana, because this was the first rock band I started listening to at the age of twelve and this established my taste of music until nowadays. However, they had a big influence on their contemporary pop-rock musical industry in the early nineties, as well. Despite the fact that they released only three studio albums in seven years, Nirvana is often regarded as one of the most influential, effective and remarkable rock bands of the century.
Overall, it is evident that throughout Bob Dylan’s life, he went through a variety of different experiences. These experiences ultimately shaped him to be the person he is today, and gave him the opportunity to work on becoming a better person. Many of Bob Dylan’s songs hold hidden meaning to different experiences he went through in his life, and these experiences relate closely to Jewish ethics. Kindness is something that we should all strive for in life, however, this is much easier said than done. It is evident that Dylan tried to achieve kindness, as he most certainty was not born with this trait. However, whether it be his personality, or being caught up in the music industry, Dylan struggled to be kind. And not just to be kind to others,
This was the least of the confusion, the two bands matters were in original instrument choice among the members, music style, the band members themselves, and at last the band names. Coincidentally, both bands lost a member who motivated the group; Stuart Sutcliffe for the Beatles, and Syd Barrett mentally handicapped before Pink Floyd’s success. The most common factor for the two United Kingdom, sixties era bands is that they both succeeded.
If we were to create a Venn diagram of these two famous artist, the similarities would be greater than the differences. Even the circumstances surrounding the death of Michael Jackson and Price were similar. They were questionable and sudden. Both artist died at an early age. Michael died when he was fifty years old. Prince died at age fifty seven. Despite their global success and large status, they were suffering in private. Their deaths involved the misuse of prescription drugs and inadequate medical treatment. The autopsies revealed that they died of prescription drug overdoses. Even today, their music can be heard on the radio, internet and other media outlets around the world. Michael Jackson and Prince left an undying
In the 1980s, two musicians were just above everybody else, those two was of course none other than Michael Jackson and Prince. They elevated music to new highs with albums like Thriller and Purple Rain by dominating the charts. With them both being two of the most iconic musicians and both now being deceased, let’s discuss the differences and similarities between the two artists. Another difference between the two is Prince was multi-talented instrumentalist, while Jackson played no instruments. Notably, both are some of the most decorated artists in music with many awards
