So recently, I got into a heated discussion with an associate about the supposed suicide of Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain. This began friendly enough but quickly spiraled into both my associate and I just being rude to each other. This started because back in June of this year a documentary was released entitled Soaked in Bleach, which was quite revealing. In it, the former Seattle, WA chief of police Norm Stamper stated that, "We should in fact have taken steps to study patterns involved in the behavior of key individuals who had a motive to see Kurt Cobain dead. If in fact Kurt Cobain was murdered, as opposed to having committed suicide, and it was possible to learn that, shame on us for not doing that. That was in fact our responsibility. It's about right and wrong. It's about honor. …show more content…
From my perspective, I think that both of us were trying to act as if we were an authority, me because of the recent information that confirmed my ideas, and my associate, based solely on how he felt. We were both more concerned with being right than we were concerned about our association. Neither of us communicated with respect, but with authority. We were both applying a win-lose approach to conflict. By the end, we were just trying to make the other look stupid, not trying to help the other save face. Moreover, I did not think of how my actions would make me feel in the future. By the end, I was only trying to make him feel bad so he would just leave me alone. I would like to add that even now this former associate and I still do not speak to each other. There are times that I miss the convenience of our association, but mostly I am glad it ended and do not regret it ending. Nevertheless, I sometimes regret how it ended.

Johnny Cash, born J.R. Cash, was one of seven children born to parents Ray and Carrie Cash in Kingsland, Arkansas on February 26, 1932. The Cash family was a farming family, hit hard by the Depression of the 1930’s. They spent a majority of their time farming to make money, and when there was little to no work left to be done, the family would relocate. When Cash was two, the family was chosen by the government to move to Dyess, Arkansas to grow cotton as a part of a limited community working towards economic recovery. The family attended the communities Baptist chapel every Sunday, which developed Cash into an inspiring Christian. At the age of twelve, his best friend and brother, Jack, was killed in a table saw accident while working at an agricultural shop. The death of his brother along with all of the negativity he felt in Dyess made him search for an escape. He began to take long walks at night while humming music, and he decided music would take him through all of his dark places. Cash attended Dyess High School, and after graduating, he hitchhiked to Pontiac, Michigan to take a job at an automobile constructing plant. He hated it and returned home a few weeks later, when his family decided to pack up and leave Dyess. It was then that he decided to enlist in the United States Air Force, and he would
Jimi Hendrix summed up the meaning of life with his quote, “Music is my religion.” With this, every person can recognize the experience that music gives them. Music is a sense of entertainment that brings feelings that listeners know to the table. Each aspect of the listener’s favorite song brings emotions that they can relate to and know. Over the generations, music has evolved into what we wanted it to be. Now, society has conformed to the effects of different types of music and how it has transformed the world of entertainment. Yet, the beauty of metal music can appeal to traditional music listeners by the creation of both sounds, by the sense of feeling that both types of music arise, and by having the same similarity of influence that

On April 5th, 1994, he ended up killing himself with a shotgun at his Seattle home after doing heroin ("Kurt Cobain Biography"). His drug problems finally got them best of him, as displayed by this incident. Yet, they were most likely not the only reason he committed suicide. About a month prior, he had attempted overdose, and about a week before his death he left Exodus Recovery Center in Los Angeles by hopping the fence, and flew back to Seattle (Kurt Cobain Biography). It can be inferred by this that he was previously suicidal. He also may have stopped trying to get better. Cobain's opinion on death is clear in this quote: "If you die you're completely happy and your soul somewhere lives on. I'm not afraid of dying. Total peace after death, becoming someone else is the best hope I've got" ("Kurt Cobain"). This displays how he may have not wanted to be himself anymore. That may have been due to the stress and pressure he felt as a result of becoming famous. Kurt Cobain's Death altogether served as a reminder that famous people have their problems as

Courtney Michelle Love (previously Courtney Michelle Harrison) is an American rock musician and actress who was born on July 9th, 1964 in California. Growing up, she felt neglected by those around her. After her parents got divorced, Courtney seemed out of control, as she didn’t know how to cope with it. She was then raised by her mom for a few years, but Courtney was so intolerable that she was abandoned by her. She jumped from foster home to foster home and found herself all alone. She got into trouble plenty of times with money, legal issues, careers, and substance abuse, yet she persevered. Courtney Love is an inspiration to me because she strived to get what she wanted, formed a band that is one of the main reasons I play the guitar, and successfully cleaned up from substance abuse after a long battle with it.
Band mates of Nirvana enjoyed the limelight they were in. Money and endorsements rolled in, but Kurt Cobain essentially did not think much of fame. In fact, Kurt Cobain resented his fame. Most band mates, like Dave Grohl, would push for Cobain to seek bigger opportunities. The band would push for Cobain to sign to bigger labels, release albums frequently, and engage in what Cobain viewed as “selling out.” However, Cobain would have none of that. Cobain simply did not care about their fame. Cobain would rail against record labels, artists, and even TV stations just for corrupting the industry. Kurt once sent a letter to MTV, but addressed them as “Empty TV.” The letter continued on about how they are the reason the, “Old school is going down
Cobain’s personality fits rather easily into Alfred Adler’s theory of personality, especially in terms of style of life and birth order. Adler believed that “the individual creates the style of life,” rather than being a victim of fate (Schultz & Schultz, 2009, p. 137). He named four styles of life, dominant, getting, avoiding, and
