Throughout our lifetime, we will have heard at least one influential quote. Due to this individual quote, our lives will be changed forever, whether it be good or bad. This, is the quote that has influenced me the most, and will continue to do so. “I’d rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.”- Kurt Cobain Kurt Cobain, a rock legend especially known for his impact in the grunge sub-culture. However, even though he had an amazing impact on the evolution of music, Cobain was not always loved for who he was. On February 20th, Cobain’s birthday, he would state a quote that would impact the world forever. Cobain’s quote impacted a variety of people, from outcasts and misfits, to accepted and popular people. His quote allowed people to be able to except …show more content…
In today’s society, my generation is fascinated with the newest trends, and whoever does not conform to those trends is deemed an outcast. Due to the impact of this quote on my life, I proudly claim to be an outcast. This quote allows me to understand that whoever I might be, I should always remain true to myself and not let other’s opinions sway who I am. This quote will continue to inspire me in life, no matter where I end up. Due to my career choice, it is vital that I understand who I am and to never let anyone sway that. If I were to allow people the opportunity to impact and change who I am, I would not be able to accomplish any of my dreams. Although, I have chosen this quote, I will not forget any of the others that helped build me into who I am to become. Just like this quote has impacted my life and many others, many more quotes will impact the lives of everyone. Whether it be good or bad, it is up to us to decide what we accept to influence us. As we as seniors, move onto the next steps in our lives, it is important that we all have at least one great quote, which will stay with us
I believe this is a strong quote because no one becoming successful without the help of others. For examples, Bill Gates wouldn’t become successful if it wasn’t for his parents that puts him in Lakeside school then he would have
When I move into my dorm for my first year of college, there is no question of which quote I would put onto my wall. Jimmy Dean, one of my favorite old school country singers, once said "I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination." This quote has really stuck with me. It reminds me that life will not always go my way and it is imperative that I learn to do deal with whatever the world may throw at me.
Kurt Donald Cobain was found dead in the green house of his mansion on March 1994, cause of death “suicide by self inflicted gunshot wound” or at least what was pronounced and believed by many to this day. It is plain and simple he was murdered.
Now I believe that this is an extremely important motto due to the fact that you can use this in every aspect of your life as I stated above. If your mind and body are prepared for any obstacle that is thrown your way there is nothing that can stop you. This hits me strongly because I believe that when you set your mind to a goal in order to better yourself you need to set them out of reach so you continue to grow stronger as an individual.
Cobain was distressed to find out that what he wrote and how it was interpreted could quite often be miles apart. He was appalled when he found out that Polly a heavily ironic anti-rape song had been used as background music in a real gang-rape. He later appealed to fans on the Incesticide liner notes "If any of you don't like gays or women or blacks, please leave us the fuck alone." It was to no avail, Cobain found that as an overnight millionaire musician control was something he had very little of. Cobain also worried that his band had sold-out, that it was attracting the wrong
MLK’s quote “Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do”, that really got to me because I can relate to this quote. This happens on a everyday basis. For example, if somebody kills somebody that person will go back to retaliate and kill somebody from the other side or opponent. I also, think that this is a great motto for our world today. If we lived by this motto the crime rate would definitely decrease.
Concluding this is really hard whether you think it is or not. This is not a persuasive or argumentative essay and I know you wanted one of those. I have such a strong passion for Kurt Cobain and what a beautiful mind he had which is why It’s so hard for me to put those thoughts into words. It pains me to say that Cobain was a bipolar narcissist. Some might take that to offence, which is completely
Kurt Cobain was the lead singer of the Seattle based grunge rock band Nirvana. As Nirvana's lead songwriter, guitarist, and singer, Cobain took the music industry by surprise and is considered the godfather of the grunge rock movement. Cobain and his band had a prevalent influence on young teenagers of the 1990s and were considered idols by numerous individuals. Nirvana took the popular music industry by storm when they were able to revamp the genre of grunge rock and cause a dramatic shift in music, away from the dominant genres of the 1980s. The success of Kurt Cobain was overshadowed by numerous of his psychological problems including drug addiction, his unstable marriage to music celebrity Courtney Love, and constant pressure from the
Karen McKay recalls the day of Kurt Cobain 's suicide like it was yesterday. McKay remembers Kurt Cobain as an inspiring and loved artist. Kurt Cobain was an accomplished lead singer and guitarist of the grunge band Nirvana, known for his appearance, stage presence, and deeply personal lyrics. At the height of his career, Cobain had ended his life not being able to handle all of the fame and glory that was bestowed upon him. He was greatly admired and a great inspiration for many of the world 's youth. He put his own personal feelings and pain into his lyrics, however the pain of his past haunted him until the end. Thus leading to that tragic day on the 5th of April 1994..
"Making yourself valuable to your family and society by studying, learning, growing, earning, helping, giving and saving, is important, but first your must follow the wonderful wisdom of God to retain, teach, and give true love value in your lifestyle and generations to come." ~ Jon Barnes
Kurt Cobain was a man of many gifts. He wrote incredible lyrics, had amazing stage presence, and inspired an entire generation. He was also a man of many flaws. Whether it was his tragic relationship with Courtney Love, his loathing self-image, or his sensational appetite for drugs, there was definitely issues. Surprisingly, Cobain despised drugs, and once stated in an interview that “All drugs are a waste of time. They destroy your memory and your self-respect and everything that goes along with your self-esteem.” (Azerrad). This is shocking for a man who was known to be, well, a junkie. However, when the events of his life are magnified, it makes sense. The music Cobain created revolved around drugs, and the impact they had on his life. His music was
I chose this quote because it means a lot to me; I find that I tend to procrastinate about making important life decisions. For instance about seven months ago I got the opportunity to work for a security company, After passing the interview they scheduled for in-class training that would last about 5-10 days. The third day I debated on if I should go or not, I was struggling with my anxiety at the time, and the class was too overcrowded.
and I just been so lucky to find it on this paper. Even today, I strive to get myself to follow this quote no matter what happened or what did happen, I try to the best person I possibly can. 3. Give a real life example of what this quote is about. If the quote does not apply to you directly, what kind of person or situation where it would apply.
I agree with this quote why because it has a real true meaning behind it. Why I feel this way is because i've had a lot of moments connecting to this quote. One personal experience I have is that I was in a business class and we were investing in a company and I had $10,000 and I took risk and invested into a company and I thought I would lose everything but I didn't and I gained a lot so I took a big risk and I accomplished my goal for getting my profits up. Another Personal experience I have is that one day I was playing basketball and I stole the ball and the score was tied up and I ran and shot a 3 instead of a 2 and I risked my shot but I made the shot and I accomplished my goal when I took that risk either tho I could have missed the
The subject of this writing, is on a man who changed music; a man on the level of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Jim Morrison. This individual is Kurt Donald Cobain from the revolutionary grunge/rock band, Nirvana. While some people would never consider Cobain to hold a major role in the shaping of our music and culture today, they haven’t taken the time to look around. Many people overlook the fact that music played a huge role in the lives of Americans during the 90’s. Someday history books will probably
