On a Saturday Night Live episode that aired Oct. 10, Amy Shumer said what we have all been thinking, “We have to be role models for these little girls, because who do they have? All they have literally is the Kardashians. Is that a great message for little girls? A whole family of women who take the faces they were born with as, like, a light suggestion. Many people have fallen prey to the reality show, "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," whether it be because their drama is so surprisingly addicting, or just because it’s too easy to make fun of the show all together. One Kardashian specifically has spiraled downward, leaving her innocent pre-teen years far behind and promoting dramatic transformations filled with plastic surgery and racy actions: Kylie Jenner. To be blunt, Kylie Jenner has quite possibly become the epitome of a terrible role model for young girls, but are we really surprised? Her role models growing up have been drowning in fame and bad publicity since she was young and she has been forced to grow up too quickly in the media spotlight, giving Jenner instant fame by doing absolutely nothing. This success though isn’t all rainbows and butterflies; instead Jenner has worked up the reputation of being a spoiled, racy, out-of-control teen that is no …show more content…
Jenner’s own lip anxiety left her to take matters into her own hands by resorting to lip injections in order to get plump lips (let’s keep in mind that she was 17 at the time), once again leaving young girls with a prominent unattainable definition of beauty. Except this unattainable characteristic didn’t stop girls from trying, ultimately leading to the start of the Kylie Jenner Lip Challenge where girls would suck on shot glasses in order to blow up their lips. Of course such a stupid action backfired and left girls seriously bruised, injured, and insecure all thanks to
An outlier is somebody that is distant from the rest. A person that you may classify as unique from those who may be standard or parallel to everyone else. You may not see it however, surrounding us we are permeated with outliers. Kendall Jenner is an outlier of our time because she had work ethic, family, and opportunity.
In 2007 the Keeping upp with the Kardashian first premiered, from that point of introduction we actively became slaves to social learning and made mentors out of reality stars but this isn’t their fault. Social learning is in human nature and in addition to that mentors are essential to growth and learning so truly no one is to blame for the fact that the youth of today have grown to idolize the Kardashians,
Perhaps, Ivanka Trump missed her calling because she keeps killing it -- one fashionable statement after another. If Donald and Ivana's only daughter together grows tired of hobnobbing around the Oval Office and doing damage control for her family that's stewing in political mayhem, she can always do the catwalk thing.
Girls all around the U.S.A strive to be society’s “perfect” image. Using makeup, social media, and even plastic surgery to fit a false image. An impractical image that can ruin one's self-esteem and others.
Some people say that Kris Jenner always planned for her daughters to be famous. The maid of the family has reported that the Kardashian girls always wore the prettiest clothes and went to private catholic schools that other celebrities' children frequented. Kim Kardashian is unarguably the most famous the Kardashian clan, and she of course was popular in high school. This graduation video proves that she was always ready for fame. «When I'm famous, remember me as this beautiful little girl!»
Meanwhile, Kendall Jenner is one of the faces for an anti- violence campaign. Along with other famous Hollywood celebrities, their images were edited with bruises to raise awareness about women's
With all the recent rumors floating around whether Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson are simply friends or if they are interested in each other on a more romantic level, many are wondering what the real relationship between the two consist of.
In early 2007, Britney Jean Spears became very overwhelmed with stress and power. Although it looks very effortless, being an influential role model is a lot of hard work. All individuals have duties to fulfill in order to complete their personal responsibilities. Celebrities must follow very stern rules that are mainly arranged by their managers. They must act a certain way in public, on stage, around fans, and during interviews. Over time, these guidelines can cause great harm to one’s self-respect. All people should have the right to reveal who they really are on the inside (Joyner).
Kylie Jenner may be the youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, but she is well on her way to booming the most famous. With millions of followers on Snapchat, Instagram, and her various other social media and website accounts, little Ms. Jenner has amassed herself quite the fan base. If you don't know much about her and have only heard the rumors, here are the top seven myths you should stop believing about her.
Thar are some teens that have taken this celebrity thing way too far. “Teenscopy what a celebrities wear, and how they will act. Palmer doesn't have many strong supporting ideas.” In Palmers response he states, ¨We teenagers are passionate- maybe even obsessed- about our favorite stars, But that doesn't make it a big problem, and it doesn't mean we won't copy their bad behaviors people have been
The role of celebrities, be it in sports or in entertainment, as a role model for youngsters is widely debated, with many people claiming that these famous personalities have hardly any didactic purpose to serve. In my opinion, this notion merits serious consideration.
Justin Bieber has had a rough life. He’s been photographed supposedly messing with marijuana, kicked out of a nightclub, and almost cussed out a paparazzi. With all of the pressures of fame, it’s caused him to lash out at people and do harmful things that ruined his image. When Lindsay Lohan turned 17 things took a bad turn for her, she was caught driving under the influence many times; and because of that her career was destroyed. She lost the chance to play important roles in hit movies because of her bad decisions with drugs and alcohol. Miley Cyrus had pressures of having to be just like her character, Hannah Montana. In order to distance herself she cut her hair short, and she later stunned her fans by appearing nude in her music video, “Wrecking Ball.” She felt pressured to live up to her character, which led her to make bad choices like being nude in her music video and doing drugs. Fame can pressure you to do things that you normally wouldn’t do if you weren’t
Clearly, the negatives outweigh the positives when it comes to celebrity role models. The lack of monitoring and the lack of morale from the celebrity community is just devastating to our young teens mind’s. Role models advocate good morale and integrity; celebs do the exact opposite. I give credit to the nice charitable things some of them do, but the provocative, inappropriate behavior they display is poisonous to teens and should not be copied or emulated in any way, shape, or form. I mean, would you want your child copying some of these irresponsible
While is it true that teenage girls do need a role model to help them shape their lives, that statement must be expanded upon. Teenage girls must have multiple role models so that they will be shaped by different personalities, styles, and behaviors that will help them to be shaped into the women that they will become. When a teenage girl looks only to Kim Kardashian as a person who has a good sense of style, a good personality, and a good style of behavior as their role model they will become just like Kim Kardashian and in so doing they will never discover other styles or behaviors that they might like better than the ones that Kim Kardashian did not have. For example, throughout American society many teenage girls are infatuated with having “the perfect body”. So they pick one person that they exactly want to look like and try to develop their body by dieting, plastic surgery, and makeup to become exactly like that one person. Then all they have to say for themselves is that they look like that one person. If all we have are copies of that one person then we won’t have any diversity in American society. The reason that it is important to state that Kim Kardashian is not a good role model is because it is important for teenage girls to understand that without multiple role models they run the risk of being exactly like Kim Kardashian and not having anything different from
Stardom often challenges the artist’s process of finding their true identity. From Hannah Montana to “Wrecking Ball”, Miley Cyrus has gone through a series of dramatic changes in style and personality. People went outrageous on her performance at VMA in 2014, questioning her authenticity as an artist as they could not believe that she went from a role model to a latex wearing “seductress” with suggestive dance moves (“twerking”) (Arruda 2013). Started out her career being a child star on Disney Channel, Miley was initially seen as a role model to her peers in the public’s eye. Little did people know, she wanted more than just acting according to the scripts. “I worked for five years on something that
