Before listening to the opinion announcement of the Supreme Court in the case of Scott v. Harris my opinion was Deputy Timothy Scott did not violate the Fourth Amendment by using deadly force when he used his car to stop Victor Harris that led the police officers on a high speed chase. After listening to the oral arguments of the Supreme Court in the case of Scott v, Harris my opinion was parallel to the U. S. Supreme Court’s opinion. I went in favor of the petitioner, police officer Timothy Scott. Listening to the arguments in this case I gathered that the officer was led into a high speed chase with the respondent Victor Harris. The Canadian North, a rugged landscape often glamorized as a land of adventure and promise, hides a dark history. From the early day’s of the gold rush, when the land was first colonised, to the attempted cultural assimilation of the indigenous peoples through residential schools, the people native to the area are still in a struggle of identity and culture, and the resulting effects such as high suicide rates, poverty and drug abuse,. It is through this lens that I will examine the work of Ted Harrison, a prolific English artist who spent the majority of his life living in the Yukon and painting the contemporary society that he saw around him. There is no doubt that his work was highly intertwined with the indigenous culture, and as such his identity brings up questions regarding the appropriation of native american culture. To that end, this essay will look at the context of his biography, the subject matter of his work, and compare it to contemporary Native American artists in order to clarify the nature of his art.

Upon arrival at the MacLaren exhibition center in Barrie Ontario, I was very surprised to be surrounded unusual art that have been all created by Canadian artists. Junius Edwards and James White used several methods to persuade their audiences. One method that was obvious between both people was the use of a personal story to allow the audience to understand what exactly was going on. Even though White told an actual story and Edwards was fictional both of these stories felt very personal and that allowed the reader to get frustrated, laugh, become sad, etc. In both stories they crafted them in such a way that you got frustrated when White was declined a hotel room or when Will got asked an abundance of questions. There is a difference between a bundle of words that are meaningless to a story that triggers your emotions and you can connect to. Another thing both Edwards and White did was create a clear

The Groups masterworks have a perseverance and impact that represent some aspect of the Canadian experience. However, it is important to remember that the Groups perspective was that of a white, liberal, nationalist who believes Canada is a vast and empty land, waiting to be occupied. In his lecture, Andrew Hunter emphasizes the importance of challenging the relevancy of the Groups work as well as brought to light the cultures and individuals these painters forgot or excluded from the Canadian image.
While reading Meda Chesney-Lind's and Victor Rios' interviews, plenty of powerful insight and advice was given, which on the long run benefits me and guides me on doing research of my own. One of the most important pieces of advice given was to have reflexivity, which in my case I have to understand that I have privilege, thus I should not take anything for granted in my field. Another key piece of advice comes directly from Victor Rios and says, “Although I brought my own biography to this study, that was not enough to give me the insights I needed to develop conceptualizations for understanding the conditions... experience alone did not guarantee entree” (Fentsermaker and Jones. Rios p112). This piece of advice hits home in my case because
Humor is a weird thing, what causes humor or what makes us laugh. In the story “Harris and me” By Gary Paulsen there seemed to be a lot more of low comedy that would cause humor then there was of high comedy. Whether it was because of there being a lot of dialect or amusing things, low comedy just had seem to come out on top. This story seemed to have a lot of the Superiority theory. As they seemed to be a lot of mishaps especially with Harris.
