In my opinion, leaders should “lead by example.” This is particularly important because when it is time to identify new potential or developing leaders, there are multiple characteristics and qualities to consider. While serving in the military, I came across a few leaders, as well as several managers. There is a misconception that good managers are good leaders, which is usually not the case. There are certain qualities that make up effective leaders. Equally as important, it usually does not take much effort to recognize the leader. Since no one is born a leader, there are appropriate methods to assist in making a leader. Now, the challenge is to identify and develop an emerging leader will require some effort. First of all, a leader has a vision; they set the goal and set the tenor on how it will be achieved. “Lead by example,” is one way a good leader will motivate people to follow and having high expectations. Moreover, emerging leaders are often revered as energetic self-starters, always seeking extra responsibility and one who pursues the most challenging assignments. Nevertheless, most leaders are driven to accomplish great things! In order to fulfill their vision, frequently they are ready to take risks and be agents of change or simply phrased as “change agents.” Basically, leaders are willing share ideas and initiate innovative practices to bring about desired outcomes. Therefore, they must be astute, strategic-minded and demonstrate business acumen in the

In today’s society, there are some people who possesses the qualities of outstanding leadership. Also, in today’s society, there are some people who keep qualities of a poor leader. A good leader is someone who reads and understands their own emotions and recognize the impact on themselves and others. Another thing great leaders do is think and act with optimism, by looking at the positives and not so much on the negatives. Another great strength a good leader has is that he or she knows the strengths and limits of the certain people on their team (Hewertson). Furthermore, a great leader leads by example, set achievable goals, assigns tasks within someone’s strengths, gets the right people on board,

"Leaders are people who are able to express themselves fully they know who they are, what their strengths and weaknesses are, and how to fully deploy their strengths and compensate for their weaknesses. They also know what they want, why they want it, and how to communicate what they want to others in order to gain their cooperation and support. From all the readings and assessments, A leader to me is someone who is able to set a positive example to their peers but also capable of receiving feedback. Leaders make
There are various styles that create a strong leader. However, I believe that the best ideal way to lead, is by showing love. You can be motivational and you can be diligent, nevertheless if it accomplished without love it is done in vain.
While lots of theories of leadership have been projected, characteristics of leaders have been endless over a period and around the world. Leaders are individuals with vision and he/her view the future different from the commonly accepted view. A leader can influence change and communicate his/her vision to other staff and gain the support, and acceptance in order to implementing the vision. Leaders have established values which offer a basis for vision and passion to attain individual and organizational goals. Throughout my short life, I have come to realize that a leader does not necessarily, although they may, maintain a defined position of leadership. A leader is one who will rise to the challenge even when the odds in opposition. A leader will tackle any barrier that stands in the way of the goal. A leader is willing to be hated and face criticism for doing what is right. Leaders come in all different forms, but a leader is the one who is always willing to make the difficult decisions.
A leader must be able to move quickly from one agenda to another. A leader must be able to inspire a person or a group of people to want to do their best. A definition of leadership can be, “A relationship through which one person influences the behavior of other people” ( Mullins, p. 904 ). One of the biggest problems that a leader in any organization has to deal with is change. Leaders have to be versatile and willing to make tough decisions in today’s economic climate. We will analyze what it takes to be a successful leader and how to manage the people around you for the best results. Asking questions
Third, a leader must proactively seek challenges and solutions. Leaders must view themselves as self-efficacious and able to change the status quo. Their passionate belief in their ability to change things will inspire others to join them in making a difference. This will give everyone involved in this process a feeling of meaning and purpose. Leaders must also be continuously aware of their environment and the factors outside of their organization that may impact them. This ability to exercise outsight will make a leader innovative and others-oriented.
Becoming an effective leader is a lot like being in the stock market. You don’t make your fortune in a day; you make it daily, a little bit at a time. What matters most is what you do day after day, over the long haul. The secret to leadership success is investing in your leadership development, much like letting your assets compound. The final result is “Leadership Growth” over time. Leaders aren’t born; their made. The process of leadership is long, complicated and has made elements. Respect, dignity, discipline, people skills, vision, emotional strength, opportunity, preparedness and experience are just some of
In order for a leader to be a leader he/she must begin with the assumption that you are the one who matters most. As a leader you have to possess that level of confidence in yourself that you are capable of leading yourself “before you can lead others”. And when you develop this belief then you are better able of affirmative influence “on others”.
Although I am in the process of becoming a good leader myself, I would also like to help those who look up to me become good leaders as well. I do attain most traits of those of a good leader but that doesn’t automatically mean I am a good leader. Another contributing factor to becoming a leader is time. My father did not become a good leader overnight and neither will I. It may take months or maybe even years but waiting is something one must be willing to
For decade’s individuals, companies, and organizations have spent an unprecedented amount of money on researching, molding, modeling and working to define what a leader is and what characteristics make successful leaders. Despite all the research, there is not a quick answer or even full agreement as to what makes an individual an effective leader. The definition of a leader is “someone who can influence others and who has managerial authority.” (Robbins, Decenzo, Coulter, 2015. P.370)
