The laws, as well as the punishments vary depending on your situation. However, if marijuana was legalized some benefits would include the help for medical illnesses, bringing up the state’s economy and relative safeness compared to alcohol. The U.S Centers For Disease Control and Prevention said that there's a big amount of people who have died from the use of alcohol but not from marijuana. (37,000 annual deaths in the U.S). Alcohol also damages the brain and causes serious problems. It is also proven that alcohol can give you a variety of cancers (stomach, lungs and liver) but on the other hand, marijuana helps to deal with it. Just like marijuana has its good things, it can also have its bad ones. For example, the effects of using marijuana as a medical treatment can interfere with balance attention and judgement. It may also increase in heart rate and decrease in blood pressure. For the people that smoke it, there's a risk of damaging their immune system.
