The conflict between atheism and theism has been known to man since times immemorial. Depending on people’s belief systems, faith and personal experience one cannot conclude whether God exists or not. The 15th century saw the beginning of the Renaissance in Europe which diverted people’s mind-set from Faith to Reason. A focus on human concerns rather than other worldly possessions, led renaissance figures like Leonardo Da Vinci to spend more time on work that would benefit people in their daily lives rather than the other worldly interests of the Church. The Renaissance’s focus on humanity was an outgrowth of the interest in Greek and Roman philosophy, literature and historiography, all of which offered a stark contrast to what had been produced under the direction of the Medieval Christian Church. Renaissance Italians felt themselves to be the inheritors of Roman culture- an inheritance which they were determined to study and understand. Humanists turned away from a religious preoccupation with personal immorality, focusing instead on how to enjoy, make the most of, and improve this life for the humans living it.

There has always been constant flux and dissatisfaction pertaining to this matter. Many scientists, philosophers and psychologists constantly argue and debate on the existence of God. Any person following a particular religion in this world whether existent or not, always worships a God, not necessarily in that sense or sentiment. Each religion probably has a supernatural power or being, an omnipotent, omnipresent and benovolent being or power known as God.
