Leroy Neiman was an american artist known for painting great artwork with brightly colored acrylics. A great impressionist, Leroy created most of his paintings with the feel and flow of almost a cartoonic vibe. His art is like he took an ordinary picture and completely recreated it with a childs coloring book. Colorful, bright, yet sophisticated looking.
Mr. Neiman brought color, he brought life into ordinary things like animals, athletes, musicians, etc. He made excellent sketches of the television when he was young, which, later on, then evolved his sketches into paintings. Lots of Leroy’s paintings were of real life actions, for example his painting of the 1967 Dolphins against the jets football, a big tackle.
Leroy Neiman was born June 8th, 1921 in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He later died June 20th, 2012 in New York City. He lived his life traveling the U.S, experiencing new things, painting,

One of his piece called Portrait of a Black Panther, really caught my attention. I love how deep and dark the way he captured the intensity of the animal, yet keeping it bright and illuminated. I would like to base my painting off of the panther.
Building the canvas was fairly easy, always making sure the cotton fabric was stretched enough wasn’t the hardest. Properly stapling the ends slightly hurt my wrists, although it was easily done. Priming was super easy, lightly spreading the primer, the layers, it was simple.
For my canvas painting I would like to keep that dark yet illuminated feel, like the panther. I’m going to be painting a wolf howling with an almost illuminated fire escaping from its mouth. I would like to keep it dark colors, so deep purples, blues, greys and blacks. Than the “fire” will be that light, the bright side to the dark. I would also like to have the spattered look around the “fire” with white to give that, poppy
He is best known for his oil paints, but he is also considered one of the founders of English landscape painting with watercolor. Within his travels of Europe he found his own style, known as “Painter of Light”, which created scenes of luminous imagery using brilliant colors and had only been 17 years old when he received the Great Silver Pallet for landscape drawing from the Royal Society of Arts (2015).

CLS- He achieved a mystical attribute into all of his images with the inspiration from various paintings that shared the same aspect and editing them to have a natural effect.
As well as in both seamless brush strokes and pixilated, quasi-Pointillist grids. Up close his paintings are more abstract, but as you back away from the painting it becomes a big, almost up to 9 feet tall, realistic portrait. In his colorful portraits he would mix up to 6 colors in a square so when you step away, you can see all the value and shading in the painting. His artwork is in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).
He is an artist who focuses mostly on portrait art. Most of his paintings are created from oil painting on canvas, and some of his other works are paintings that are on stained glass. Many of his paintings focus on the recreation of old historical paintings in between seventeenth through the nineteenth century art. However, instead of including the historical people in the paintings, he replaces people from history with people in the black community. He wants to break the stereotype of the identity of black people and show that he is not just a black American living in America, but something more than that. In many of his paintings, he decides to use many different types of textiles and patterns from different times to bring out his artistic technique. New York Times explains that his “subjects wear hip-hop fashion or designer gowns, and in addition to posing as kings and saints, they mimic aristocratic ladies in well-known paintings from the Louvre or masterworks of African sculpture.” (New York Times 1). He also uses the bold and colorful colors to bring the painting to life. In many of his paintings, he also brings out some of the hip-hop cultures in each of his paintings, using the different looks from the hip-hop era. One of his most famous paintings was the Napoléon Leading the Army Over the Alps, which he replaces Napoléon Bonaparte with a black
One of his major works was the beginning of the Migration of the Negro or better known as “The migration series”. This is a 60 -panel painting that depicted the life of the Southern Negros migrating the urban cities in the North in the 1900’s straight up to world war l in search of work. The migration series had many pieces to it; however the cohesiveness of this work made it into a mural-like piece of art. This series of painting captured the
All of his sixty paintings show that African American in the south had a hardship of work, the long journey that African Americans take to reach their destination and sadness of leaving their home and the new life that awaited. In the painting that shows the hardship of works it shows the sadness of their face and some of them with their heads and back forward and carrying baskets loads of product. The painting of the Long journey shows African Americans walking through dry fields as sunset is setting and in the new life painting it shows a family looking out through a train with happiness in their face as they see new land. This reflects to the many immigrants that are coming from different parts of the world presently and seeing new opportunities and with leaving there is a purpose and take a long journey such as Nayo and Milto in the film Wet Backs : The Undocumented documentary for the new life that was before them. But there are struggles that were portrayed in this series of panting being that on one painting it had a group of people mistreating and beating an African American. There was also racial injustice with cops and the people of the U.S have seen many stories still happening presently with many deportations and this connects to the Arizona policy to deport as many as one-hundred thousand undocumented
Arthur Merric Bloomfield Boyd was born on the 24th of April 1920 and was a leading Australian artist through the late 20th century. After serving in World War II, Richard enrolled in the University of New Mexico where he painted the Albuquerque series, his master thesis. He was taking a flight above the clouds where he saw farm lands and farm roads. Albuquerque is an oil based paint on muslin that follows the idea of abstract thought. Richard is on of the greatest artist ofd the postwar era and many look up to him and his art abilities. I still have a hard time wrapping my mind around the abstract thoughts paintings. However, they are absolutely stunning paintings. They can be seen in all modern places throughout the world. Abstract paintings are taking over the art world for their unique looks. For such an odd painting, art like this make you appreciate the thought behind
Timothy Kobs bought a famous monster magazines whenever he could find them. The magazines was in color. The paintings by Basil Gogos were his favorite paintings. Timothy Kobs started to do acrylic paintings on black canvas using only white to bring out the midtones and highlights. Then he would subtle colors to bring out the paintings to life. Frankster was painted with the open acrylic on canvas.
A notable artist Archibald Motley Jr. sought to challenge this theory by creating portraits of cinema and minstrel characters. Motley did not feel his depiction of Black culture should be limited to a single body of “Middle Class” intellectuals to come to a decision on if it’s proper look for Blacks in America. (Colored Pictures) Motley sought to create a variety of African American images. Motley, a Du Boisians, called for a broader view of Blacks in America. Artists as James Porter disagreed with that view felt Negros should be seen one way. Often considered "Father of African-American Art History," James Porter sought to create positive images of blacks by only showing them in a morally upright ways and situations.
I chose George Rodrigue for my art showcase project, because his artwork was one of a kind. He was born on March 13th, the year of 1944. George was born in New Iberia in Louisiana. He spent most of his childhood life living there. George passed away in 2013, December 14th, unfortunately from lung cancer.
As a learning artist, I always search for others who share the idea that art is more than what lies on a picture plane. One artist, in particular, has drawn my attention since I was young and he is a self-taught artist named Guy Dennings. While taking the hearts of thousands of others with his various media that range from pastel on newsprint to Conte crayon on paper; he has also captured my imagination with these emotional creations.

The main theme that seems to apply to both “Miles and JoJo” and “He Was” is Human Experience. Additionally, these arts differ in some ways.
