It is with great honor that I, Congressman Al Lawson Jr., write this letter of endorsement to the Charmettes, Incorporated of the Leon County Chapter in support of the 3rd Annual Dr. Eva C. Wanton Women of Faith Praying for a Cure Recognition Luncheon. It is with great pleasure that I recognize the service and bravery of this year’s honorees. The fight against cancer takes strength, bravery, and caring individuals. Winning the battle with cancer could not be done without selfless deeds and commitment to others to take on the fight while also giving back to the community. This year’s honorees and the Charmettes are incredible examples of how commitment to community positively impacts the lives of others. The dedication from these individuals
Cancer on the one hand can be called as a disaster of life for most people;it affects brings death to some and depression and sadness for families and friends who were involved.Lots of people are mentally broken down by such a terrifying disease but some chose to fight against it.Terry Fox is a great example of a hero which has such life threatening illness still remains positive towards and always inspires other to cherish their lives. He tried to run all across the country with an artificial leg after his right leg was amputated six inches above the knee. He showed the whole world that it is still possible to gain hope and happiness even when life is dogged with illness or cancer; he raised money for cancer research in order to improve the medical techniques as same as to figure out a possible cure to save people’s life and to lessen their pain; he motivated people just
“Don’t give up, don’t ever give up.” The words of the great Jimmy Valvano. Jimmy was a Men’s Basketball Coach at N.C. State University. He is one of the greatest coaches of all time. But he is also the man who delivered the “Never Give Up” speech at the ESPY Awards in 1993. This has inspired so many people. It’s the thought of Cancer that often brings Jimmy into mind. Stuart Scott is also very inspirational when it comes to cancer. A real inspiration is Mrs. Spatz. She has beat cancer 4 times. Over and over again, she has fought and beat cancer. She is now a teacher at Wyndcroft Private School in Pottstown. Although she is my mother, she creates inspiration for many
Many people can relate to his personal battle with cancer and his dedication to cancer research. His speech was full of emotion. He gave examples of his anguish during a seven-day stay before the awards ceremony, explaining his liver complications, kidney failure, and multiple surgeries. This provided the audience with real life experiences to understand the depth of what this award stands for.
It is a huge deal when someone is free from cancer, so we want to celebrate this amazing
According to the National Cancer Institute, everyday 43 kids are diagnosed with cancer, and in a year over 1,960 of them will die. That’s why the America Make a Wish Foundation grants a wish every 35 minutes to kids with life threatening diseases. They believe that in some cases, giving the kids their one heartfelt wish could be a real game changer. That's why, one way I’m going to pay it forward is sponsoring a wish.
First of all, I would like to thank you for taking me into consideration as a nominee for the National Honor Society of Coolidge High School
Since the beginning of my high school career I have embodied the four pillars of National Honor Society. The past summer I spent over a hundred hours volunteering at Pocono Medical Center. At PMC I was entrusted to escort patients being discharged by wheelchair or walking,
I couldn't bear it. When my father pulled up to the curb, I quickly kissed them both good-bye and jumped out of the car. I was just about inside when I heard a funny sound that sounded like my name. I stopped in my tracks and turned around. There was Suzy, standing up outside the car on wobbly knees, wig slightly askew. With her arms outstretched, she said gently, "Good-bye, Nanny, I love you." I hugged her so hard I was afraid she might crumble. And then I ran to catch my plane. I never saw my sister alive again. After nine operations, three courses of chemotherapy and radiation, she had lost her three-year war. By the time I flew back to her side it was too late. She was gone.” Nancy founded the Susan G Komen foundation to save as many people from going through what her sister and her family went though. Susan G Komen foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for breast cancer so that there are no more sad stories like the one you just heard me tell about Nancy and Susan. The Susan G Komen foundation has come long way and has had a huge impact on the fight against breast cancer, I support them and I know they will never give up until we find a cure for breast cancer, and neither will I.
I would like to take the time to thank you for your incredible generosity in awarding me with the Kelley & Shannon Gibson Bluegrass Scholarship. Coming to SUNY Plattsburgh, I was looking for a club that would allow me to express myself musically and would also help me to build friendships that would last throughout college. I am glad that the bluegrass club ended up being the club that provided me with so many opportunities.
We can not begin the thank you enough for the Hero Award you and the Luft Family presented to Preston. We feel so honored and appreciate that both families were able to come and present this to him. It means so much to know that Preston is out on the roads helping bring awareness to different causes and running in honor of those who can not. Preston may not speak words but I know he is so proud of this Hero Award. Again, Thank You for this special award and being present to present it to him on awards night. Hugs to all!

Jimmy Valvano once said “Don’t give up. Don’t ever give up”. When you hear these words, what do you think of? Do you think about participating on a sports team and being down by a few points? Do you think about being so exhausted that you need to stop working and sleep? When Mr. Valvano said this, he was not thinking about how he wanted his team to come back and win or how tired he was and was not sure if he could do what needed to be done. He was talking about his battle with cancer (2012 ESPYS). and how he would never give up. This award is not just apart of an award, it is part of a foundation. The “V” foundation gives grants to companies to fund cancer research (2012 ESPYS). This foundation has helped create opportunities for men and
I’d like to start off by thanking everyone involved in me being here today. Not just on this stage, but here mentally in my life. The fans are especially a big part of why and how i’m here today. For every young girl who’s ever came to one of our games and desires to get here in life, I know how you felt. I remember my dad alway bringing me to USSSA softball games and watching every move they made so I could be just like them. You guys are the reason why I get up every morning and go to practice every night, no matter the aching. While many of you voted for me to win this award, there are definitely still people who would’ve never voted for me in a million years. But those people don’t matter in life. Those people shouldn’t have an affect
