Wyoming College Student Levy Thamba Pongi, 19, jumped to his death at a Denver hotel on March 11, 2016 after eating more of a marijuana cookie than was recommended by a seller. Pongi consumed more than one cookie purchased by a friend - even though a store clerk told the friend to cut each cookie into six pieces and to eat just one piece at a time, said the reports obtained Thursday. My spring internship with Charles L. Levy Law Firm introduced me to the complexities of children protective services (CPS) cases and contractual law. While working with Mr. Levy on CPS cases, I was able to observe over 30 civil cases at the Waco courthouse and help supervise child visits. I developed a more complete understanding of the importance of CPS cases through attending meetings with caseworkers, investigating suspect parents, and visiting children that had been placed in new homes. Mr. Levy also gave me the opportunity to collaborate on various insurance cases that exposed me to legal materials, such as depositions, that are common in many legal practices. Although tedious at times, helping Mr. Levy with insurance cases was interesting

Despite the efforts of lawyers and judges to eliminate racial discrimination in the courts, does racial bias play a part in today’s jury selection? Positive steps have been taken in past court cases to ensure fair and unbiased juries. Unfortunately, a popular strategy among lawyers is to incorporate racial bias without directing attention to their actions. They are taught to look for the unseen and to notice the unnoticed. The Supreme Court in its precedent setting decision on the case of Batson v. Kentucky, 476 U.S. 79 (1986), is the first step to limiting racial discrimination in the court room. The process of selecting jurors begins with prospective jurors being brought into the courtroom, then

Savoie tried everything from breaking up with his girlfriend and avoiding people to try and stop his depression, not really thinking it could be a drug issue until he consulted with a doctor. There are many more stories out there similar to Savoies that just have not been talked about. There is even a term for the mellow feel that marijuana users get after a high: the stoners. Another mental disorder that is caused by marijuana is an acute psychotic reaction or marijuana-induced psychosis. In one instance of this, a young teenager aged around 19 had eaten a marijuana cookie meant for to be eaten by multiple people and lost his touch with reality. This young man jumped out the window after damaging and breaking many things in his hotel room: killing himself. Also, “in another horrific incident, a Denver man ate marijuana-infused candy and a few hours later begun ranting and raving. He then took out a gun and killed his wife” (Goldstein 70). This Denver Man’s loss of reality is also because of a case of marijuana-induced
