Out of all the political parties in Canada, the Liberal party is the party that matches my beliefs and values the best. From their plans for the environment, to the economical agenda, up to social issues, their beliefs are quite similar to the ones I have.
First off, their beliefs on the environment are something I value as the future is not in the hands of those who will be present to see it, but in the hands of those with power. One of the things the Liberal party promises in their platform is putting in effect a Carbon Tax. By doing this they will encourage large contributors of pollution to lower their emission or find ways to have a greener company. Because the Liberal party plans to tax companies that emit a large amount of pollution,
Liberal beliefs on various issues. On terms of property, Liberals believe that the redistribution of wealth would cause for a more just society. They also believe that the government has the responsibility to take from some and give to others. They are more open and accepting of societal change, such as same-sex marriage. Unlike Conservatives, Liberals believe the primary cause of crime is poverty. Poorest neighborhoods have the highest crime rate because the people are hopeless and have no opportunities. The Second Amendment gives the right to bear arms. Liberals have a narrow interpretation. They believe Americans have too many guns, cause violence, and have access to guns too easily. on terms of Abortion, Liberals believe abortion is a
At a glance, the Liberal and Conservative party may look like they occupy opposite sides of the Canadian political spectrum. However, when examined closely one can find many similarities between both parties. Marland and Wesley define brokerage parties as “shock absorbers” because they aim to confide regional conflicts. For example, The Conservatives in 2006, under Stephen harper aimed to reach power through various promises that aimed to appeal to different regions and/or different groups of people. For example:
Democrats and Republicans highly differ when comparing views on climate change. The Democrats accept human role in climate change while many Republicans question if climate change is even real. In the 2016 Democratic Party Platform (27), they state “in the first 100 days of the next administration, the president will convene a summit of the words best engineers, climate scientists, policy experts, activists, and indigenous communities to chart a course to solve the climate crisis.” This is highlighted previously when President Obama, a Democrat, traveled to Paris for a convention about climate change where he met other leaders around the world to make a plan to help fix the issues surrounding climate change. This shows the basic principles of the Democratic Party as internationalist and having the large government—as it states in the
In high school, students separate themselves into different groups. There are the cool ones, smart ones, weird ones, stoners, and several other groups that students separate themselves into. Although, all the students are equals, they do not see themselves as such due to their labels. The voting citizens of America do the same. Americans have six major political parties that they separate themselves into. Each party has different beliefs, although some may have similar ideas.
Signed the Military Peace Establishment Act Aligned more with the Federalist party because it established a military presence in the United States, which is what their party believed in.
The Republican Party believes in conservatism and traditional practices. They are strongly opposed to same-sex marriage and feel that heterosexual marriage is the only right way. Republicans feel that the only ways to economic profit are free market and individual achievement. In addition they oppose high tax rates for the wealthy and believe raising the minimum wage is going to directly hurt the economy. Republicans wish to see increased funding and modernization to the military. In their eyes, a strong defense system is the only way to peace. The Republican Party would like a large reform in social security and want workers to control their own retirement investments.
The Liberal Party's membership of Canada is committed to the fundamentals that have developed and sustained the Liberal Party from any other political party; individual freedom, responsibility and human dignity in the framework of a just society; political freedom in the framework of meaningful participation by all interested persons, and the Constitution and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms provides the framework for both a democratic society and for the interaction of members within the party. It is also devoted to equal opportunity for every person, to the enhancement of our unique and diverse cultural community, to the recognition that English and French are the official languages of Canada, and to the preservation of the Canadian identity
Did you know that the current leader of the New Democratic Party used to be a Liberal? Thomas Mulcair became the leader of the New Democratic Party after the death of Jack Layton. The New Democratic Party (NDP) is one of the major federal political parties in Canada. The NDP was formed in 1961 as the result of the merger of two different parties. There are numerous reasons why the people of Canada should vote for the NDP. Citizens of Canada should vote for the New Democratic Party because if elected, they promise to improve the environmental situation, provide better health care for Canadians, and improve the economy in Canada.
The Liberals have a strong belief in vaccination in order to protect citizens from preventable diseases (such as measles). They also support the legalization of marijuana as well as the process of abortion, as well as having prescription drugs be covered by the universal healthcare system of Canada. The liberals believe in free choice in healthcare and support abortions as well as euthanasia.
The Liberal is the long-running party in Canada, orginally consisted of disenfrachised French-Canadians and Cathloics in 19th century. Previously a centrist party that holds great values on free market and personal responsibility, Liberal has changed to a left-winged party when former leader Pierre Trudeau advocated large and activist government can improve social and economical issues in Canada.
Imagine getting raped by a family member and then are faced with the decision when an unwanted pregnancy occurs due to this unfortunate traumatic event. What should be done? The Republican party should win the 2016 elections because of the parties views on same sex marriage, abortion, and drugs.
The Four Political Parties of Canada In a country as vast and as culturally diverse as Canada, many different political opinions can be found stretched across the country. From the affluent neighbourhoods of West Vancouver to the small fishing towns located on the east coast of Newfoundland, political opinions and affiliations range from the left wing to the right wing. To represent these varying political views, Canada has four official national political parties to choose from: the Liberals (who are currently in power), the Progressive Conservatives, the New Democrats, and the Reform Party. What is particularly interesting is that none of the latter three parties compose Her Majesty's Official Opposition in the House
The Liberal party has a strong values that help the middle class, they value issues on health care, domestic policy, economic, environmental, educational, and immigration. Since they have strong beliefs in these sectors, I align with the Liberal party the most. I make the point on how the Liberal party will benefit the middle class because of their new promises like a tax break for the middle class. This will affect those who have a lower income, and provide respective benefit to them. However economic prowess is key for the survival of a nation, Canadians must also preserve the Environment. Major projects like the Keystone XL Pipeline gave Canadians resources while also being environmentally responsible. However, the Liberals are not fond
If given the opportunity, I would immediately choose to join the Liberal party of Canada. Personally, I consider myself and my beliefs to be generally on the “centre-left wing” of the political spectrum, which falls perfectly under the radar of Liberal beliefs. I believe that I am an informed citizen because I am passionate and updated on current social issues occurring in our society. I vigorously agree with the values that the Liberals possess, such as equality and social development. As well, the Liberal objective is to create the ideal society where all citizens are equals in order to benefit a larger group of people. Whereas the opposing party; the Conservatives, focus on individual welfare which I disagree with. Contemporary situations
Assumptions about human nature in order to create social justice. According to Mill, social justice is “the idea that we can put in place a set of political institutions that will ensure the just distribution of benefits and costs throughout society.” In other words, social justice is in the hands of the government to create certain institutions that will greatly benefit everyone, and equally so. In order to do that, one must have an idea of the way human nature works so as to institute programs and such appropriately and properly.
