The Civil War was very traumatic. It caused over six hundred thousand American deaths. That is more than any other war in American history (Fuller).
The Civil War was started on April 12, 1861 when Confederate forces attacked Fort Sumter. About 620,000 young men lost their lives during the Civil War due to combat, accident, starvation and disease. (Civil War Facts Pg1) Two-thirds of these men died from disease. The theory of Germs had not been accepted by doctors yet and modern day antiseptics back then did not exist to prevent the spread of bacteria. This is the most men lost in combat in our nation’s history due to the fact that both sides were Americans.
The story is mostly about this mother named Abigail Adams, and that Abigail Adams sends a letter to her daughter. Abigail Adams was married to John Adams. While Abigail and John was moving into the White House, The White House was getting built. The White House is the new White House. Abigail Adam wrote the letter to her daughter from the White House. The Letter mostly talked about what the White House looked like and what is happening to the white house. After Abigail wrote the letter to her daughter and sent it she couldn’t wait to see how her daughter reacted. She told her daughter to keep the letter to herself. She told her daughter
In the poem the title pretty much gives it away and the paragraphs have dates on them. He mention events that take place during battles among men. There are lines talking about deaths, people resting in their grave, and battle flags. He also speak about the suffering that the people involved had to endure. Lastly he gives name to the other people such as comraderies, armies, and workmen. So based off of the language used we can tell that this man is writing a poem about a war that was during the middle to late 1800’s.
Abraham Lincoln's letter to Mrs.Bixby was definitely written from passion and not duty! I feel that this letter was not something he was required to write to all who lost members in the war. The reason I say this is because of the casualty and lack of the professional mood its gives off to the recipient. He says, " I have been shown in the files of the War Department a Statement of the Adjutant General of Massachusetts that you are a mother of five sons who have died gloriously on the field of battle". In my opinion, this is stating that he was shown files of casualties in the war and this one stood out to him in particular.
The civil war had such an impact on the U.S society. Also it was the most traumatic experience. About 620,000 soldiers lost their lives.

The Union Army of 2,100,000 soldiers was nearly two times the size of the Confederate Army of 1,064,000. It was the deadliest war in american history. Around 9 million people lived in the southern states at the time of the civil war. Thirty percent of all southern white males between the ages of 18 and 40 died in the Civil War. There were 179,000 Afro americans in the Union Army. The Civil War started because of the Missouri Compromise, economics, Bleeding Kansas, cotton production, and Virginia.
Around the time of the civil war 9 million people lived in the southern states and 3.4 million of them were slaves. Neither of the armies wor specific cloths so it was hard for them to figure out whos on which team. During the civil war there was more orphans because a lot of parents died. 20 percent of the soldiers in the civil war were under the age 18.
The American Civil War began in 1861 in order to determine if the United States was to be a confederation of sovereign states or a nation with a sovereign national government. The war would also decide whether slavery would continue to exist in the United States. The American Civil War is recognized as the costliest war ever fought on American soil as it resulted in over 620,000 Soldiers killed (American Civil War History, 2009). The election of Republican President Abraham Lincoln was the catalyst for the
Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address given November 19, 1863, Lincoln state’s that 87 years previous our founding fathers signed the declaration of independence; where the nation was built on the principles of liberty, and that all men are created equal. He gave this speech during the war, while the nation was a battlefield. There were many men who gave their life so that the nation it fought for might be able to live, and it was the right thing for the living to dedicate themselves to the nation that many have died fighting for. A nation is supposed to be a family dedicated to itself, and something had to be done about the situation, not only spoken about. The dead would not have died in vain, but the living would continue to fight so the nation

Ever since I was a small boy in elementary school, and all throughout my grade school days, there were many great names that were spoken of and taught about. Names such as George Washington, (our first president) John Hancock, John Adams, and Mark Twain were among many others who contributed to the betterment of our great country, the United States of America. Yet there was one name that resounded in my classrooms, and in my ears. That name was Abraham Lincoln. As a child, I had heard of great things this man had done, and wonderful things he had said. Of the many great things said by Abraham Lincoln, I recall most vividly the Gettysburg address, given on November 19,
The Civil War has often been described as the first of the modern wars in history. This name has been applied because the conflict was the first to allow military leaders and armies to draw upon all available resources. In addition, the technological
President Lincoln, I know you are a good and fair man. That is why you need to hear and understand why the Sioux people must not be punished. We have been lied to, manipulated, and treated like animals by the American government. In the late 1850’s, a treaty was made between us and the government that resulted in my people being the subject to horrendous treatment and our land significantly reduced. I was one of the warriors fighting for my people, so let me tell you what we encountered. Our fight against the government began on August 17th, 1862, and ended four months later on December 25th, 1862. By the end of our war, more than a thousand Sioux had been taken captive and put into Minnesota prisons. On December 26th,
