Why do we like music so much? Have you ever wondered why we listen to music almost every day?
Now you may not have known this but the human brain is wired in a way that it enjoys pattern recognition. Weirdly it enjoys it in such a way that successful pattern recognition is rewarded with a positive brain chemistry (Like a tiny neurological high). That's why every time we listen to music we feel a certain way and our mood could change depending on the type of music.
Most people would agree with the fact that music is one of the most pleasurable things to them. As i previously stated humans are wired and the "high" we get from listening to music gives us pleasure. The reason we feel this high is because our neurotransmitters release dopamine
Music has been enjoyed for centuries by people of different cultures, languages, and religions. It is used for general enjoyment, as an outlet for relaxation, and as an auditory distraction from the stressors of daily living.
Music causes the brain to become active in the frontal lobe, parietal lobe, temporal lobe and occipital lobe.Music releases a chemical in the brain called dopamine which is found in the pleasure center of your brain. Depending on what is triggering the dopamine, it can motivate a person OR create cravings for sinful pleasures.
People have been known to use music to listen to music to relive stress. People have been known to use music to help them keep their heart rate down while they are running or when they are mad. People has been known to use music to help their brains function like on “jeopardy” the use incising music to rush our brain and make us think. (Scott, Elizabeth.)

Music can chemically alter your brain, allowing you to feel pleasure as you listen to it. This pleasure is undisputable, as discovered by neuroscientists Robert J. Zatorre and Valarie N. Salimpoor who have conducted research finding, “When pleasurable music is heard dopamine is released in the stratum - an ancient part of the brain found in other vertebrates as well - which is known to respond to naturally rewarding stimuli like food and sex and which is artificially targeted by drugs like cocaine and amphetamine” (Salimpoor). As seen by this research my thesis is supported by the providing that the body does in fact receive a sense of pleasure, however people have different pleasurable music and depending on yours the dopamine will take its course. However how can we tell what we find “pleasurable”? Thanks to
The brain reacts to listening to music by releasing dopamine. The dopamine was released when someone was feeling their best(when listening to their favorite music). Researchers also found out that dopamine was released in response to things like food and money, but also things like love, which cannot be touched. The amount of dopamine raised up 9% when someone was listening to the music they liked, so music was found pleasurable because the brain thought it to be a ‘reward’. This is why we enjoy music so much, but we still don’t really understand why the brain does it. Researchers used a large amount of volunteers to see what music does to the brain, but only eight of them showed any physical sign of dopamine being released. These volunteers

As the combination of different sounds travel through out ears, we tend to connect music with certain emotions or memories. For example, to feel that adrenaline rush we select a more upbeat tone in music. If you want a relaxed mood, you listen to something nice and calm with a relaxing melody. According to an article by Mental Health Center, students at Penn State did a study on music and emotions; they showed that people’s emotions have a more positive attitude after they listened to music.
