I’ve adored theatre for as long as I can remember. From writing plays throughout elementary school, to being involved in Drama Club in middle school, to performing in community theatre in high school, and to visiting the theatre as often as I could from the very beginning, theatre has always been a part of my life. Every aspect of it engages me: the directors working to bring their vision of the show’s scenes, choreography, or music to life, the actors transforming into different characters through their expression of dialogue, song, or dance, the costumers and set-builders transporting the audience into the setting and time period with their artistry, the backstage tech and crew working quickly and precisely to keep the show flowing to curtain call, and the orchestra bringing the show to life through music. There is nothing like the experience of live theatre, both as a member of the audience and as a member of the cast and crew. …show more content…
Of course, this means that problems can arise at any moment. Live theatre is unpredictable and merciless, and problems must be solved the moment they appear, especially under the pressure of a live audience which will catch the mistake if the solution is even a second off from being found. A scene can easily derail because of an actor forgetting their lines, a prop or piece of the set not being taken on for a scene in which it’s pivotal, or the curtains failing to rise or fall at the right moment. I’ve experienced each of these scenarios multiple times, and the outcome hasn’t always been ideal. Knowing the potential mishaps that may occur, however, has taught me to be prepared for anything. An actor may have to improvise their lines or substitute a missing prop with another as long as the scene keeps going. No matter what, the show must go
The dramatic arts have had great influence on my life and on my perspective of the world. Through this artistic expression, I can take on any persona, freeing both my mind and my heart. The understanding of people’s actions and emotions has shaped me into the young woman I am. Performance and the study of performing, I find, are enlightening, priceless, and eternal. So long as life persists, the timeless themes found in plays and works will persist.
Theatre is reality and it is a living art. It is an important entity of any society. It is the expression of human conditions in its different forms throughout history and it has a long tradition of performances based on the issues and events which are central to a society. So, theatre has a big role to play in building a good society. Through theatre one can know as well as one can show the reality that is happening actually in a society of which he or she is a part. It primarily focusses on performances which deals with the issues of wrongdoings done by the few rich and powerful to many poor and the oppressed people. So, theatre becomes even more important in a country like India where the number of poor and helpless people far
Middle School Theatre as a student is really interesting. I have an amazing teacher and I learn everyday. We learn about lot’s of things in theatre that helps me grow in theatre. In this paper I’m going to talk about all the things I’ve learned so far in Theatre and my favorite unit this year.
Dance is a universal language, there are no words being said but you can still feel something very powerful. Dance has been around for centuries, some of the earliest known records are paintings from nine thousand years ago in India. There are also some dancing figures from an Egyptian tomb that were found which were dated back to three thousand, three hundred BC. It is said that before the invention of written language, dance was the most powerful method to tell stories throughout generations. Is this why dance is still around after so many years, because it can portray amazing stories with no words? Today, we are going to explore the many reasons why dance, in the use of musical theatre, can make the difference between an amateur show and a Broadway show.
More people are choosing to add home theatre rooms Vancouver to their houses. While getting a home theatre room can be quite expensive, it offers a number of benefits. Below is a list of benefits that can be reaped from adding a home theater room:
The art form of Pantomime began as early as Ancient Italy. Comedy shows were put on where there would be little talking and rely on over the top actions accompanied by music. Also in many cases gender roles were switched. For example women would play stoic men, and men would play the damsels in distress. After Roman times the Pantomime form moved on to more parts Italy in the 15th Century. It incorporated famous characters such as well known simpletons and jolly men, that acted out scenes. This form is called Commedia dell’Arte.” This was a "comedy of professional artists" travelling from province to province in Italy and then France, who improvised and told comic stories that held lessons for the crowd, changing the main character depending
Watching a theatrical production come to live is one thing that I can never grow tired of, and being part of the process gives me a warm feeling that can never be replicated by anything else. I always jump up to the opportunity to stage-manage a show or help produce it in a way. Majority of the time, theater is my therapy in where I’m always in my happy place.
Wilson & Goldfarb (2012) suggest that all theater performances have six common elements without which “an event ceases to be theater and becomes a different art form and a different experience” (p. 9). These elements are performers, audience, director, theater space, design aspects, and text (Wilson & Goldfarb, 2012). We can conclude that all those were obvious in the performance from a closer consideration.
To me, theatre is a solar eclipse. Everyone knows about it. There are pictures and videos all attempting to capture the unfathomable beauty. But, when all's said and done, it must be experienced. A recording of a solar eclipse, just like a recording of a show, can never encapsulate the wonder from experiencing it in person. Even though it means it's harder to access and experience theatre, it's one of the reasons I fell in love with it.
Floyd County High School does not have enough theatrical productions. And who doesn't love live performances? Watching plays is fun, but performing them is even more fun. Theatre helps with brain development and learning new things. Plays and musicals are fun to watch , plus performing them and learning, blocking, and memorizing lines can be fun as well. Even if you don't want to perform but learn all about theatre, taking theatre classes can be very helpful and enjoyable. Theatre activities help student involvement, watching, learning, and performing theatre is very fun and enjoyable for all.
One of the wonderful aspects of live theatre is that no two productions will be alike. Even productions of the same play will vary, sometimes to a great extent. The choices that the different actors and directors make changes how the audience interprets and understands the play. Costumes are one of the elements of a production that vary, and costume choices and design can vary greatly, but can give the audience an abundance of details about a character. Secondly, the way an actor delivers his or her lines vary, and can change the meaning of the line depending on how it was said. Lastly, the most noticeable element of a production that varies is the set, and this too can provide a wealth of information about the characters. These elements may
There are many different job positions in a theater production aside from the actors. Theater is one big team effort to create something magical. Some of these positions are directors, producers, assistant directors, stage managers and assistant stage managers. Many of these titles can either be combined into one person or multiple people. For example, there are set designers, costumes designers, lighting designers, sound designers, and props and furnishing designers. Some theater productions contain all of these jobs with separate and multiple people to one job. Other theater productions may only use a couple of people to do multiple job titles. On the other hand, if a theater production feels like it is necessary, they may let the technical
Starting off my group tried to use the list of movement vocabulary. That didn’t work out so instead we decided to focus on what our theme or story would be. Eventually we settled on two topics, unrequited love and love at first sight.
Musical Theatre is an art that I always envisioned myself pursing at the collegiate level and what I want to make a career out of as well. My perfect musical theatre program that I would want, would be a program that would help me to achieve a better understanding of who I am as a musical theatre artist first and then hopefully I can expand my artistic goals and further develop myself through whichever institution that I am attending. The musical theatre training that I have received in high school through my creative arts high school New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) whether its been in dance, vocal, acting, or the productions that I have been cast
The theatre is the place where stage actors belong. One can’t help but admire the structure of the grand stage bordered by big curtains and several seats all facing you. Theatre is my passion and acting is pretty fun as well. Acting is a way to express oneself and hone a skill to portray a character. After settling in after a long day of classes, if there isn’t a tv show, play, or a movie , in the background, the ambience is a buzzkill. It just doesn’t feel right. Theatre is one of the few things in life that brings people from all different backgrounds together. Some of the most dedicated, bravest, and talented people just simply do what has been done for centuries. Deteminately, they tell a story. Even if some tell it better than others,
