Lois Elizabeth Traeger was born on August 15, 1926. Lois was born on the Traeger farm in Stanton township. Stanton is located in goodhue county, Minnesota. Lois’s parents were Lawerence Traeger and Laura Carlson. Lawrence had inherited the farm from his parents. The farm had over forty acres of land and the family didn’t use all of the land. Lawrence sold the farm and the house. Lois and her family moved to Cannon Falls township.
When Lois moved to the township of Cannon Falls, her family started to struggle because of the great depression that just happened a few years back. Lois begged her father and he finally said yes. They bought one male horse named Ace. Lawrence also bought a female horse named Nelly. Nelly was Lois’s favorite horse after Thunder was sold to help the family out. When Lois was growing up, Lawrence was a farmer and Laura stayed at home and cleaned and made dinner for the family. Her father provided the food by farming for grains and corn. He also had many chickens and cattle so he used those animals too. Ludafisk is a Swedish Tradition where all the family members come together and celebrate the new year. usually the feast consists of tator tot hotdish and oyster stew. It is one of Lois’ favorite times of the year when she can see many family members that she hasn't seen in over a year. What Lois did for work was when She grew up on a farm so she helped with farm chores. She raised the kids and when the kids were older she worked off the farm, at the hospital as a cook, Lorentz locker, and a clerk at the Cheese Cave.
