Webster’s Dictionary defines the word love with several definitions. However, the definitions of love are interpreted in different ways. Even though love is a small abstract four-letter-word, it affects those who experience it in various ways. Love is the one unifying word that binds us together as humans as we strive for its meaning. Love can bring life into the world, and yet it can end life as well, as it is an emotion that is felt so differently by so many people. For me, love is defined as the love of God, the love of family, and the love for a significant other.
The first definition of love is the unconditional love of God. When I was a little girl, raised in the church, I learned one simple rule: God is love. I would sing songs about God's love in front of the congregation on Sunday school mornings, never really knowing what God's love truly was. It wasn’t until I grew older that I fully understood what those Sunday school songs were all about. Love for God and His love for us is unconditional and will withstand all troubles through time. There was a time in my life where I did not have God as the center of my life and I spiraled down a road of sin and pain. Through my sins and trials God stayed with me because His love is unconditional as opposed to human love that tends to be conditional and based emotions. He does not love me because I am lovable; He loves me because He is the definition of love. He created me to have an unconditional loving relationship with
