Loyalty, Sacrifice And Compassion Of The Heart

The word 'loyalty ' means 'fidelity to law ' which is generally applicable in the case of the Sovereign of the State. It is one of those noble qualities that is found not only in humans, but in pets as well, such as dogs, horses or even elephants in some countries. But in a broader sense, it means having steadfastness in allegiance to a person, people or a cause, or to an even bigger picture: one 's country. It involves obedience, sacrifice and compassion of the heart. Loyalty is a broad term, which can be applied to one 's family, their locality or their country. Being a loyal per¬son could mean that they are ready to sacrifice even their own life for the sake of whatever they are loyal to. They bear a moral character. A truly loyal man cannot tempt to be bribed or to deviate from his own path. Loyalty is being absolutely dependable in all circumstances. In this world, there are only a few instances of truly loyal personalities. Loyalty is common among the courageous soldiers and servants. There are instances of pets such as dogs, horses or elephants that will give their lives out of loyalty for the interest of their master. In Homer’s The Odyssey, loyalty is a major theme that underlies the entire story. There are several examples of loyalty, such as one of the most apparent ones; Penelope’s loyalty to her husband, Odysseus’s loyalty to his men throughout their quest and even some smaller examples such as Odysseus’s dog and servants.
