Over time, he has been cited one of the most crucial figures in the transition that connected the Romantic and Classical ages of Western music. However, Beethoven’s life was marked by his struggles against deafness. This nonetheless did not stand in his way and during the penultimate years of his life, he composed some of the works that are considered his greatest achievements (Corbett).
