Integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobody’s going to know whether you did it or not. Having integrity means doing the right thing in a reliable way. It's a personality trait that we admire, since it means a person has a moral compass that doesn't waver. It literally means having "wholeness" of character, just as an integer is a "whole number" with no fractions. Physical objects can display integrity, too if you're going over a rickety old bridge that sways in the wind, you might question its structural integrity. Integrity is a combination of the words, “integritas” (in-teg- ri-tas) and “integer” (in-te-ger). It refers to the putting on of armor, of building a completeness.
As demonstrated in Shakespeare’s play Macbeth, absolute

When Eddie ran into the burning camp, the Captain shot him in the leg so that they could rescue him from the fire and escape. During their escape, Eddie was unconscious in the vehicle. The men came to a suspicious piece of land and the Captain volunteered to get out of the vehicle to inspect it for his men, before they drove over the land. While securing the land, the Captain stepped on an active landmine that killed him. The other soldiers in the vehicle, including Eddie made it to safety. Eddie was not aware how the Captain had died or why he shot him in the leg. The Captain tells Eddie that, although he shot him in the leg, he kept his promise by not leaving him behind. The Captain even sacrificed his life so that the other soldiers were able to live. Had he not been willing to survey the land himself, all four men would have driven over the land mine and been killed. The text stated “You made one. I made one. We all make them. But you were angry over yours. You kept thinking about what you lost. You didn’t get it. Sacrifice is a part of life. It’s supposed to be. It’s not something to regret. It’s something to aspire to’…. ‘I didn’t die for nothing either. That night, we might have all driven over that land mine. Then the four of us would have been gone” (Albom) meaning that sacrifice is a part of life and everyone sacrifices something in …show more content…
After He was baptized, He went into the wilderness to fast for forty days and nights, during which time Satan came to Him at His weakest to try to break His integrity and corrupt Him. Jesus was wholly man and wholly God at the same time, and He tempted in every way we are, yet he never sinned. He is the only one who was ever without blemish, perfect, completely truthful, and always showing a pattern of good works. As sinful human beings, our integrity is flawed, but Jesus’ integrity is perfect. When we are “in Christ,” we partake of His divine nature, having been given new natures in Christ, and that new nature is one of integrity because it is His nature. In the Bible it says “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15) The meaning of this quote is that we don’t have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet he has not sinned. It also states “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17) The meaning of this quote is that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has

To be loyal to the king is to have integrity, to show this in a tragedy such as William Shakespeare’s Scottish play Macbeth, the use of literary devices is mandatory. Shakespeare showcases a variety in character and plot development; he manipulates this ability he possesses to dissolve the character’s integrity within the play. The overall thematic message of the play is ‘Disloyalty to the king means to lose integrity, and to lose integrity is to be destroyed.’ Macbeth shows his integrity in Act one, Scene two. Shakespeare proves Macbeth possesses integrity in Act one, Scene two. Macbeth’s integrity becomes undone in Act two, Scene two, consequently, the complete destruction of his honour is delivered in a killing blow in Act Five, Scene eight.
Integrity is having a standard of morals and ethics, and living by them. It is a willingness and ability to do the right thing even when it is hard. The story To Kill a Mockingbird is filled with integrity. For example, many of the people in Maycomb share a prejudiced sense of integrity when it comes to its racist views. However, it is Atticus Finch’s integrity throughout the novel that really embodies the idea of moral and ethical principles. He puts into action every moral idea that he supports. Atticus is a role model to not only his children, but to the whole town of Maycomb, and his integrity is a great part of what makes him such a good example. Integrity
Macbeth tells the story of a man named Macbeth and his struggle for power. He and his friend Banquo are told by three witches that Macbeth will become King and Banquo’s children will become king as well. Macbeth, content with his prophecy, goes home to tell his wife. Hungry for power, he kills King Duncan, frames Duncan’s chamberlains for the murder, and takes his throne. He then feels threatened by the others in line for King, so he tries to kill banquo and his son. Banquo is killed but his son escapes. Macbeth continues to indulge in murdering people who are a threat to his tyranny.
Integrity can be defined as "an uncompromising adherence to a code of moral, artistic or other values, utter sincerity, honesty and candor, avoidance of deception, expediency, artificiality or shallowness of any kind" (Webster's 3rd New International Dictionary 1174). In simpler words this means to maintain high standards and follow the rules, even when no one is watching. Integrity is very important in our everyday life if we wish to be good people. The sad thing is that if you ask some people what integrity means to them they will probably tell you that it doesn't mean much and some may not even know what integrity is. Certain people feel that in order to get ahead in life they need to break certain rules. It is
“O worthiest cousin, the sin of my gratitude even now was heavy on me!”(I. i. 347) the king cannot repay him for what he has done for their kingdom. Macbeth is a highly respected warrior because he is loyal, trusted, and honest man. Macbeth is a vulnerable man; he is weak. Letting other people make decisions for him, he becomes more incapable of resisting how people will view him as a “loyal” soldier since he cannot follow through. In the film Macbeth the setting is right in the middle of war. Macbeth has held the enemy facing him, but he hesitates and looks at his soldiers for the okay to kill the enemy. With that being said, he is seriously self conscious and lets others makes the decisions for him. Before he is going to kill King
Conspiracy, corruption, death and a fanatical tyrant. Sounds like something straight out of a modern day movie thriller doesn’t it? Well actually it's not, it's just everyday occurrences in William Shakespeare’s The Tragedy Of Macbeth. (Still sound boring?).
Murders, evil spirits, and manipulation make it evident that something, or rather somebody, is corrupt in Shakespeare’s “Macbeth.” All of the evil acts can be blamed on two specific people: Lord Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, but whose fault is it really? Lady Macbeth is more morally corrupt than Lord Macbeth, because she is the root cause of all of the evil within their country. Lady Macbeth is the first character to have corrupt thoughts; She started all of the evil shenanigans. After reading the letter, she realized that in order to be King, Macbeth would have to kill King Duncan – something she knew her husband was not capable of, so instead, she instigated it.
"'Shakespeare uses his central characters to explore issues in his plays'. To what extent is this true of Macbeth?" William Shakespeare's timeless play "Macbeth" is a complex tragedy which depicts the downfall which follows after the preoccupation of power. The protagonist, who shares the name of the play, struggles with his ambition of attaining greater power and status and succumbs to attaining it through murder and deceit. The Tragedy of Macbeth is a play written by English author William Shakespeare. The play explores the physical and psychological effects of political ambition on those who seek it and is chock-full of bloodshed and corruption. The title character in the play, Macbeth, clearly demonstrates this corruption throughout the plot, but is he solely responsible for the way the plot unfolds? Lady Macbeth, his wife, pushes him to take the first action in what becomes a chain reaction of unfortunate events. She might actually be the root cause of events in Macbeth and the reason the play is the way it is.
Throughout William Shakespeare's tragic play, Macbeth portrays an ordinary thane, by the name of Macbeth. He is constantly prompted by supernatural forces to forgo an unethical duty which pushes his morals to obtain goals. If it was not for the righteous prophecies, moral compass, and ethical stages of life, Macbeth may still uphold his title of King.
I watched as he leaped out the window. He promised that it wouldn’t come to this. That he wouldn’t leave me alone. But I guess what they say is true, everyone eventually breaks their promises at one point. And there was no exception for my own brother as well.
The Captain explains to Eddie that he needed to make this ‘sacrifice’ in order to give Eddie and the other the soldiers a chance to live, as if it weren’t for The Captain ending his own life Eddie and the other soldiers would have driven over the land mines and would have been killed instantly. The Captain tells Eddie “Sometimes when you sacrifice something precious, you’re not really losing it. You’re just passing it on to someone else. ”(98), this quote symbolises the idea that when you sacrifice something it may offer opportunities to others, Eddie realises that by The Captain bravely sacrificing his own life it gave Eddie and the other soldiers the opportunity to continue living. This instant of sacrifice really resonated with me even though the sacrifices I have made cannot even be compared to The Captain’s.
The story of Macbeth is filled with themes, examples, and quotes of ambition, guilt, and examples of things are not what they seem, and nature versus unnatural. These are explained and shown throughout Macbeth. While ambition can help drive dark deeds that help destroy us, the deeds will also produce guilt, through the deeds it is easy to be misled, especially when there is guilt and fear behind you and with those unnatural incidents can be created. As they all come together they can lead to things that there will be no turning back from.
