Michelangelo was born on March 6, 1475 in Caprese, Italy. Michelangelo was known to be one of the best artists during the renaissance. Michelangelo never was interested in school work. He was always amazed by the painters and artist that were around him. Thus, igniting the flame and desire of him becoming a painter, artist, poet and sculptor. At the age of sixteen Michelangelo sculpted two reliefs, Battle of the Centaurs and Madonna Seated on a Step. Two of Michelangelo’s famous works was the Pieta and David. David is meant to symbolize a young, courageous warrior with a bow and arrow ready to take down his enemy. Michelangelo mad David out of discarded stone, a fact which most people are not aware of. Raphael was a painter during the Italian Renaissance. He is known for his paintings of the Madonna, each one a little different. He was born on April 6, 1483, in Urbino, Italy (Bio.com). His most famous painting was finished in 1507 called La belle jardinière (Bio.com). La belle jardinière is also known as Madonna and Child with Saint John the Baptist (Bio.com). It is different compared to the painting I will be examining but the concept and figures are still the same. Raphael died on April 6, 1520, his 37th birthday, of “unexpectedly of mysterious causes” (Bio.com).

He settled in Florence in 1505 at only fifteen-year’s old. Raphael first produced art in Urbino at a young age. Raphael produced his first piece of art at fifteen year’s old. He is a naturalistic artist. He used paint for his paintings. He started with Marriage of the Virgin (1504), the Dispute over the Sacrament (1510-1511), then the misnamed School of Athens (1510-1511), and lastly the Cardinal Virtues (1511). Raphael was part of the great trio of High Renaissance masters. He became the most prolific and most widely celebrated painter of his time. At age twenty-six-year-old Raphael was called to Rome by Pope Julius II to embark on the major phase of his career. During this time many spectacular things took place. Artwork was created that looked as though it were from the heavens. Sculptures were generated that looked as an angel had sculpted the masterpiece. The architecture that took place looked as though it were created from the 19th century. Many architects, artist, and sculptures were present during the Renaissance, but there was one person that stood out the most. He could paint the most complicated and difficult tasks, an example: painting a ceiling with great detail and story. The ceiling of the system chapel in part shows the separation between God and man as it shows Adam’s arm and finger stretching out to touch God’s. Leonardo da Vinci's story began on April 25th, 1452 in Tuscany. Born out of wedlock to Florentine notary Ser Piero and Caterina, he was raised by his stepmother and father. At the tender age of five years old, he relocated to an estate in the town of Vinci, which later inspired his ever so famous surname. Here, he lived with his uncle and grandparents. He had a minimal education, but his artistic ability flourished throughout his childhood. He began an apprenticeship with Andrea del Verrocchio in Florence, Italy, around the age of fourteen. There, he became skilled in the arts of metalworking, carpentry, leather arts, sculpting, painting, and drawing. At twenty, we set up his own workshop as a master artist in Florence’s Guild of Saint Luke.

In 1498 he moved to rome where he got commissioned by Jean Bilhères de La Graulas, a representative of the French King Charles VIII to the pope, where he did the statue pieta.
