The divorce rates nationally are just getting higher and higher year by year. The national average is that 50% of marriages end in divorce (mariage and divorce, 2015). Children who have divorced parents or parents who are going through divorce have more hard times. Some of the reasons of this are because, of the loss of the parent that they are not living

First cause for divorce is infidelity people often cheat because they aren't getting the attention they want or they feel unwanted all the time. They are unhappy with their spouse. They don't feel loved anymore. A good percentage of divorces end because one is unfaithful to the other.

Diverse ways of managing money, different financial incomes, and an absence of cash can create great tension in a marriage. In fact, statistics in a survey conducted by Citibank on the divorce rates in the United States suggested that more than fifty percent of divorced couples referred to financial problems as the cause of their divorce. If the couples have children, cash turns out to be significantly more crucial to the relationship. Many individuals refer to money as the reason for their separation. Divorce is such a personal and common thing in America. There are so many couples who go through the act of divorce every day. According to Kanewicher and Harris (2014), forty to fifty percent of couples will end in divorce within the first few years of marriage. Divorce is the legal dissolution of a marriage by a court or other competent body. There are many factors that may lead couples into divorce. Some of those factors are, marrying too young, low education levels and overall just lack of preparation (Kanewischer, 2015). Although divorce is common now, it was not like this back in the late 1900’s. Divorce was not allowed and most of the time people did not want to get divorce because of all the time and effort they put into their marriage.

Supposedly marriage is for life, but in these days that reality has changed a lot. Divorces have increased and they are now part of the normal constitution of modern society and families. The reasons why couples get divorced can be many but the most commons are: lack of mutual respect, excessive control, and lack of money.

These include academic deterioration, antisocial and delinquent behaviors, anxiety, low self-esteem, and depression. Early promiscuity, relationship difficulties, and illicit drug use are also noted. Other studies correlate resiliency in adulthood as one product of living in a conflictual family system”(Rich et al., 2007 p.164). The effects of divorce vary depending on the situation and the child. “Hess and Camara found that many children of divorce suffer severe emotional consequences such as depression, anger, anxiety, and withdrawal, any of which, if prolonged, can have a negative impact on the child’s overall emotional development. It is also reported adjustment problems in the area of cognitive, emotional, and social development among children of divorce as well. In addition, parental separation has been found to be particularly stressful for adolescents”(Bornstein and Walters, 1988 p.248).

A question that has been plaguing sociologists for years is the issue of high divorce rates. Since the 80's there has been an extremely high rate of divorce in our country. In statistics I found from 2004 the percentage of divorce was at 47(NCHS). This question has been studied vigorously, sociologist have looked in every direction for one solid reason that our divorce rate is so high, even compared to other developed countries. As of right now, a simple answer has not been found, but various theories have been formed to attempt explaining the problem.

People in America are determined to get married and live together. Married couples want to share everything and depend on each other. However, fifty percent of these couples cannot seem to fulfill their marriage vows. As a result, they choose to get a divorce. Divorce is very easy to do nowadays unlike the past. Statistics show that the four main causes of divorce are: financial difficulty, women are more independent, infidelity, and couples are getting married at a young age.

The sanctity of marriage has seemed to have disappeared with the arrival of the 21st century. Though marriage rates have always fluctuated in the past, current events have caused divorce rates to increase. According to recent statistics made by the census bureau, the divorce rate in America is roughly 50 percent. There are a myriad of speculations as to why more people are not staying together. One reason is that people are getting married for the wrong reasons, such as unplanned pregnancies. Another reason is that women have become more independent so that they are not forced in to being in a marriage where they are not happy. Divorce and its effects on children are common issues that are on the rise in the world today. Divorce affects more than just the married couple. Children often bear the brunt of divorce, which makes divorce a complicated decision for most parents. Something could be as small as an argument over money, children or one partner finally showing their true colors having a fight that ends in wanting a divorce.  Alternatively, sometimes it is something that happens over time. Such as, after living together for so long a couple could begin to feel the distance growing between them and as the marriage progresses they grow apart, eventually leading to a drawn out divorce. Divorce is a genuine tragedy. It often leaves the married couple embittered and financially poorer. When married couples have children, the children are the most affected when their parents separate. Divorce serves as a hindrance for the children to feel love and security of a complete family and deprive those good role models (parents) for their own future marriages. Children from families where there is conflict and/or divorce is more prone to depression, poor school performance, rebelliousness and law-abiding behaviors. These problems can continue until they become adults. Adult children who came from divorced parents tend to have a life that results to be miserable and unsuccessful because of the pain that cause them when their parents separate.

“DIVORCE” – Just the sound of such word in any married couple or children’s ear can cause great agony that can even become terminal. Research and personal experience, has proven that in today's society, divorce is more common amongst newlyweds. Since 2009 the rate of divorce has increased to approximately forty percent, There are three out of every ten marriage that ends up in divorce before it reaches the stage of maturity, and the most prevalent results are – lack of communication and infidelity.
