Major and Career Research Project

When I was young I wanted to become a teacher; however, that all changed throughout the years. What had motivated me to become a teacher was all the supplies they had like the whiteboards, the markers, and the construction paper. It seemed fun and interesting to me to have all the supplies. I no longer wish to become a teacher. As I grew older I realized that I wanted to do something that has me going to places, seeing new things, speaking with diverse individuals, and for that reason I chose to be involved in Real estate.

I want to be a nurse practitioner when I grow up. A nurse practitioner ,or commonly known as NP, can treat and diagnose illnesses and can also conduct lab tests.(“Welcome to Top Master’s In Healthcare Administration”)

The majority of aspiring neuropsychologists will need to earn more advanced degrees, such as a PsyD or PHD, to be able to secure employment in neuropsychology. To become a neuropsychologist, it must begin by earning a four year bachelor degree in psychology, pre-medicine, biology, or neuroscience. After earning a bachelor’s degree, the student must continue and earn a master’s degree, which is offered by many diverse colleges and universities. Master’s degree in psychology will include topics such as cognitive, behavioral, memory and learning the brain process. When the master’s degree is achieved, many students will continue their post-secondary education to a doctorate level. Addition to 10 years of schooling in college, rising neuropsychologist will also need to complete a 1 year psychological residency, complete a supervised internship, get a passing score on the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP), and apply for a neuropsychology

Going back to the gray matter, the outer layer of gray matter is the frontal cortex. This is where we make decisions and where we do much of our conscious and complicated thinking. Phineas Gage, a renowned neuroscience patient in the 1800, was hit with a iron rod to the head, yet minutes after he was still able to move and act normal (Fleischman 6). The only thing was that he could not make decisions. When given a $1000 for the pebbles he collected, he angrily refused the deal( 19). He was not able to make the decision of  getting the money or not. Neuroscientists have learned so much of the brain that has helped us understand our own brains and the people around us. From this scientist learned that the sections of the brain had parts and functions such as language and comprehension(65). Lastly they learned about germs and that you need to make sure to disinfect your tools(17). Without this our technology that is here would not be as progressed if we did not know this.  All of these components helped us understand the teen brain just a little bit

I am interested in researching about neuroscience because I have always found the brain to be a fascinating organ. No other organ controls the entire body in the way that the brain does, but there are still many discoveries yet to be made about it. The brain has always been of interest to me and I have spent extensive time learning about it, but I would like to get to research about the brain in a lab this summer through the OKSTARS

Prior to writing this essay, I sat down with my mom to come up with ideas on stories that have made me who I am today. That is when I realized I have made more personal growth in the past four years of my high school career that I have before this period of time. I am ending my high school career with more knowledge than I ever expected.

With such a large number of choices, the decision of a career major can appear overwhelming. Do you follow example of your parents? Do you take after the way your friends are taking? When you have a career major decision narrowed down, what do you think about that profession? Do you know what a designer, medical attendant, broker, welder, or agriculturist truly does? What salary will you be paid in this profession? The best approach to discover these responses is by asking individuals who know. Here are approaches to look into and increase encounter in diverse career fields.

My interest in the human brain really began my junior year of high school when I took AP Psychology. I could not get enough of learning about how and why we function on a day to day basis, which can be looked at from multiple perspectives including from a biological angle. It amazed me then, and still amazes me today, that a complex network of neurons which fire electrochemical signals is the basis of every action we do on a day to day basis. This idea sparked my passion for learning more about the nervous system and how it functions, and is an interest which remains with me to this day. This same year of high school I also fell in love with Chemistry and Anatomy/Physiology, both of which applied in some capacity to AP Psychology as well. Ultimately

A sit-down interview, in the interviewee’s classroom, on April 22, 2017, results in responses from Rachel, a female Elementary Education teacher at Deerfield Elementary School, in Deerfield, Wisconsin. I never thought anything like this would happen. How could it happen?Why did it have to be my best friend. I just didn’t understand or get why it was happening because there had never been any signs of it. Why cancer?

Thus, I firmly believe that an integration of various academic disciplines is the most accurate approach to psychopathologies. Likewise, neuroscience is a multidisciplinary science that is primarily concerned with the study of the structure and function of the nervous system. Hence, the Neuroscience major seems to fit my passions and ardor very well.

In my career research report, I am going to be trying to accomplish some of my goals. I feel like it’s time to start planning for my future and what I want to do with it, so a main goal is to find a suitable career for me. I have already seen some amazing career opportunities for me to think about. Though I really hope I can get at least an A on my research paper and make sure I enjoy the whole process of doing this project.

A lot of individuals as children, I believe, don’t think about things of that nature growing up. Most want to be doctors, lawyers, police officers, and etc. I honestly believe you really have to have a passion for something like this because you have to go through years and years of studying, and just because you’re an expertise in that filed don’t mean you know everything there is to know. A lot of theories still don’t give us a lot of knowledge on human behavior. Which keeps me wondering, will humans ever fully understand how the brain works, and how it affects our
