Imagine waking up and knowing you don’t have to go to school. It would be nice right away but when you walk outside and see the damage done to your city and people scared of dying every day. That is what my hero went through. Malala Yousafzai a survivor of a Taliban assassination was able to survive while on the brink of death and was able to make a difference in many young girls lives. If it weren't for Malala Yousafzai 's strong feminism stance, various books of her traumatic assassination attempt and girls education rights , the issue of girls rights would be less known about and helpful.

Malala the strong 19-year-old after her assassination she speaks out about how horrific life was in Pakistan. Malala explains the attack and the affects when she says “when I survived the attack and when I woke in the hospital my mind was very clear that life is precious and we need to use it wisely” (Gidda 2). Because of her near death experience she has accomplished a lot, she has established a fund that’s raised over $8.4 million, won a variety of awards and has become an author. Malala talks about in her speech when receiving the Nobel prize how her story is no different from the others. According to Malala’s statement she says” there was a time where women asked women to speak up for their rights...but now we are stronger” she also talks about her past as well when she states “where was my youth and my childhood...it was destroyed” (Gidda 2,3). Her statement is showing how she may not be young anymore to fix more of her childhood but she can help the other kids in Pakistan get education. On October 9, 2012 on her way home from the store a young man following Malala came from behind her and asked for her name and after she stated who she was he attempted to assassinate her. The bullet (3 of them) had exited through her head and lodged in her shoulder. She was rushed to a hospital in Birmingham, England. Malala is known for being humble in most of her speeches and multiple television appearances. When Malala received the Noble Prize and many awards this is a phrase she repeated the most " how dare the Taliban take away my right to an education"( GIdda 3). This phrase she has repeated various times has put an imprint and opened the eyes of many that this is not just another issue is the kids of the futures education. Just because she has become more "important" from her accident and activism she tries to stay normal around people. Once Malala was fully recovered after her accident she tells about how she tries to not act more "important" but wants to still be normal. She states in an interview " I try not to be so serious with my friends or act differently before my accident, I want to still be normal'( GIdda 3). A lot of people can get caught up in the fame but Malala stayed humble and lived how she is and not through how the media perceived her as. When Malala was at the UN General Assembly she made a really good point on women and their strength present day compared to just years ago. " Today is the day of every woman, every boy and every girl who have raised their voiced for their right "(Satyarthi 709).
