According to the textbook, Introduction to Leadership: Concepts and Practice, there are over 100 definitions of the word “leadership”, and all of them are unique in their own way (Northouse, 2015, p.1). There are so many different aspects to leadership that is it nearly impossible to have one definition that covers every area. Each and every person that is a considered a leader has his or her own way of leading because every situation, whether it be work, a team, at home, etc., calls for different and distinctive ways of leading people. Northouse states that there are six main aspects of leadership; it’s a trait, ability, skill, behavior, relationship, and an influential process (Northouse, p. 3-6). Giving a clear answer as to what leadership is defined as is very difficult, but this paper will talk about my specific leadership skills and what leadership means to me.
While the defendant is in the custody, Corrections is responsible for probation, prison and parole. When the defendant is found guilty and sent to prison, s/he will be housed away from society for a given period of time and while in prison, corrections is responsible for humane treatment of the defendant. See last page (court hierarchy). As a Chief P.O. I have administrative responsibilities including personnel evaluations/discipline/work schedules. We have a total of 13 probation officers. I 'm also the liaison to all the Judges, if they have concerns about anything, they tell me and I address it. In addition to administrative responsibilities, I also am in charge of our drug testing lab and the Domestic Assault Response Team. To address the increasing recidivism rate among offenders in the juvenile and adult criminal justice system, comprehensive restorative justice programs should expand to a much wider faction of the United States criminal justice system. Programs should be implemented on federal, state, and local levels to effectively and efficiently achieve this goal. The goals that should be strived for must be kept in mind so that adequate progress can be made and so that benchmarks will be met when required. Administrators must not let their restorative justice system fall behind to the point of no return, as many would argue that the current system of criminal justice has. This paper will focus on the requirements for proper management and administration of the proposed solution. The requirements include the skills needed for effective management of the proposal, identifying poor managerial skills and the ways to improve those skills, the necessity of benchmarks and milestones, and reasons that may delay proper implementation.
Not long ago, I obtained a paid position as a Service Provider for Adult Probations in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. As a service provider, my job is to ensure an adequate level of supervision, surveillance and control for offenders released to Community Corrections by the court or through the authorized absence process, and provide support and assistance to offenders as an alternative to incarceration. It is important to note that Corrections service providers are not to be confused with volunteer probation officers who are appointed to enhance service to individuals already deemed appropriate for a community-based sentence.

Strategies are formulated at the Top while implemented at the lower levels in any federal, state, or private level entities. In order to run all the operations and administrative tasks according to the mission and objectives of the entity, the Top level executives are expected to formulate effective strategies and plans. To accomplish the set objectives in a well-organized manner, they provide effective leadership in all the day to day operations. The same is also true for the leadership at any criminal justice agency. Such agencies or entities work at both federal and private levels and primarily work for the elimination of injustice and criminal acts from the society. Criminal justice agencies also require an effective leadership in order to perform their duties and responsibilities as per the Law enforcement work environment prevailing in their country.

The effectiveness of the intensive supervision programs is largely dependent upon how the enforcement is administered as well as which programs are utilized (Latessa & Smith, 2011). The caseload of probation and parole officers is often much higher than what can ideally be monitored effectively. This creates a strain on the officials overseeing the offenders as well as increases the risk to public safety if the offender is not receiving the supervision or treatments they need. There have been studies conducted into the use of various intensive supervision programs throughout the years (Lowenkamp et. al., 2010). The findings determined the effectiveness
