Not everyone can be asked “what is your favorite book?” and have an answer to say. Most people do not enjoy lounging around and reading a nice book. A lot of questions might start to surface and wonder “hmmm why so many people do not appreciate books?” Great authors like Niccolo Machiavelli a 20th century Italian writer, had no problem when it came to getting readers attention with his writing and keeping their attention in his story The Prince. Another great writer is Patti Mancini a 20th century speaker, with her amazing speech “The Politics of Power”, discussing women’s guide to success. The last author to discuss is Max Shulman a 20th century American writer, with his amazing short story Love Is a Fallacy which …show more content…

Mancini chose her target audience (women) right of the back. Because her primary audience is women, working class women to be exact. It limits her from getting the attention of the opposite sex. Not only because of her female audience, but also because the whole speech is about “beating men at their own game” (Crowne). Majority of the male would not care too much for Mancini’s speech. Cutting down your audience down to only women can be a little tricky, because the writer does not get as much feedback if the speech discusses men and women making it to the top. Authors sometimes use stories to make the reader seem like they can relate in some sort to make the reader understand the writing more.
Last, we come to Shulman with his interesting short story Love is a Fallacy. The story discusses about love and how different people view it differently. Whether it is true love, material love, or ownership love Shulman discussed it all. This story in particularly can easily be enjoyable to a numerous amount of people because everyone wants to learn about love and different type of love.
